The project sported authentic period uniforms, weaponry, and armored vehicles. The main battle sequences involved 300 reenactors, and was shot on a United States National Guard base.
The project was developed by Background Productions, co-founded in 2007 by Benjamin Samuels ('09) and Nicholas Jandl ('07) as a means for Tufts University alumni and students to work together on film projects.
"A Year and a Day" was made entirely by 18 to 23 year olds, who set out with the intention of accurately capturing the age and psychology of those young men and women who served in World War II.
