Quotes

  • Davis Bloome : I want this to end. I can't live with myself.

Clark Kent : But it's not your fault. Everything's that happened to you, is because of me, all right. We should have been brothers. Davis, you didn't have a home. If that would have happened to me... I've always wondered what it have been like if the Luthors had found me in that field. I could have turned out differently.

Davis Bloome : But you didn't. You were destined to have the better life. No matter how hard we try to fight it, we will always return to our true nature. Chloe, pull the lever! Let me end this!

Clark Kent : No, Chloe, you have to give this another chance. This is not set in stone.

Davis Bloome : Enough, Clark. You know that you should let me die.

Clark Kent : Davis, there has to be something in your life - something that is worth giving it one more try.

Davis Bloome : It isn't always about where your heart is. It's about what you've done and what you're going to do. I was sent here to destroy you, Clark.

  • Tess Mercer : There is a savior among us. You are here to betray him.

    Davis Bloome : I haven't betrayed anyone.

Tess Mercer : I finally realized that until you fulfill your destiny, he won't have his great challenge to overcome. He cannot become the world's savior without triumphing over the world's destroyer.

Davis Bloome : What savior? What you are talking about?

Tess Mercer : Clark. There's a reason you two don't get along. You were destined to kill each other.

  • Chloe Sullivan : [Davis wipes tears out of his eyes]  A man who's not afraid to cry.

Davis Bloome : A man who's not afraid to cut onions.

  • Davis Bloome : So, have you heard from Jimmy lately?

Chloe Sullivan : His last tirade of e-mails included every single unflattering word in the dictionary, including some that, uh, didn't get past the censors.

Davis Bloome : I thought he'd be dying to get back together with you.

Chloe Sullivan : No. I believe that, um, the last phrase he used was "don't call me, don't come by, and if you e-mail me, I won't open it."

    Davis Bloome : Ouch.

  • Chloe Sullivan : What did the LuthorCorp diva have to say?

[seeing it's Davis instead of Clark]

Chloe Sullivan : I know what you've done. Jimmy was right.

Davis Bloome : Uh... that guy... that I killed... h-he was a drunk driver, he was a three-time offender.

Chloe Sullivan : And what about all the others? Are you gonna try and justify killing them, too?

Davis Bloome : [catching her as she tries to escape]  No, I didn't know what else to do! I'm sorry.

Chloe Sullivan : You lied to me!

Davis Bloome : I had to! I didn't want to drag you into all this.

Chloe Sullivan : Then why are you here?

Davis Bloome : I love you. And I need to know if you care about me.

Chloe Sullivan : How can you ask me that? I thought I did.

Davis Bloome : Then I need you to do something for me.

Chloe Sullivan : I won't do anything for you.

Davis Bloome : I need you to help me die.

  • Davis Bloome : You think you can keep me here?

Tess Mercer : I know, there's nothing that can restrain you.

Davis Bloome : Then what are you gonna do?

Tess Mercer : I've been asking myself that question for the last few hours. What do you do when you find Judas in your midst? Who would Christ have been if Judas had not betrayed him? Maybe we would remember Jesus only as a teacher roaming the desert.

Davis Bloome : I don't quite understand what you're getting at.

Tess Mercer : Without Judas, Jesus would have never risen from the dead to come back and face his greatest challenge: saving humankind.

  • Tess Mercer : [opening the curtains and seeing Davis wince]  Were you expecting a chorus on angels? I'm sorry to disappoint you. I wanted to be here when you woke up. I apologize, for the state that you're in. I didn't expect you to end up like this. I was trying to kill you. But... that seems to be harder than I thought.

Davis Bloome : [weakly]  Why am I here? Who are you...

Tess Mercer : Shh. You're safe with me. Safer than out there. If the world knew you were a serial killer, you'd be running from torches for the rest of your life.

Davis Bloome : You got the wrong idea about me, lady.

Tess Mercer : It's not your fault that you were born with a killer instinct. I even admire your altruistic selection of victims. It's like keeping bats around to wipe out the parasites that prey on the city.

    Davis Bloome : I can't control myself.

Tess Mercer : I know you've tried to absolve yourself, but... even suicide wouldn't really work for a guy who can't die, would it?

Davis Bloome : I am not who you think I am.

Tess Mercer : No. You're not who you think you are. And today... you proved my theory.

  • Davis Bloome : [answering his ringing phone]  Hello?

[turning on his car lights, he sees Tess in front of him]

Tess Mercer : I forget. What's the prayer for dismembering a body?

[holding up a detonator, she presses the trigger and his car explodes]

  • Chloe Sullivan : You know, you still didn't have to cook me dinner, even though I did manage to override your settings, retrieve all of you addresses, and change your applications. So the next time you go fishing for your phone in your glove compartment, you won't erase your whole world with the touch of one button.

Davis Bloome : Well, well, well. Ain't you the most overachieving teacher's pet know-it-all in the room?

Chloe Sullivan : Ah, he's got a sense of humor and he can cook.

Davis Bloome : Well, the one thing that was on the menu with the foster homes I grew up at, mac and cheese.
