A Parent's Worst Nightmare
ccthemovieman-11 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Here's yet another good episode, one that starts off with a mystery of where it's going but we find out this is all about kidnapping girls ("human trafficking") for slave (sex) purposes. Despite the premise, it's not a sordid story but a typical CSI mystery for most of it as the gang tries to figure out who got stabbed to death at the beginning of the show.

It turns out he's from the Ukraine and he's here in New York to find his missing daughter. As usual, one clue leads to another and another, etc., until we figure out what the main crime happens to be, and who's in on it. There is a real sadness to some of this as desperate parents are worried sick over their missing daughters, not just the man who was killed.

On a lighter note, it's interesting to see Julia Ormand enter this CSI spin off as "Deputy Inspector Gillian Whitford." Her character was introduced a few episodes ago. I'll always remember Ormand as the beautiful heroine "Guinevere" in the 1995 film, "First Knight," starring her and Richard Gere. A British actress, shoe does a fine American accent in here. She's a 46-year-old now and lost the youthful beauty but she's still a pretty woman and a good addition. (Note: after looking up her profile here on IMDb I was sorry to discover she only was in one more CSI: New York episode. Too bad; I'd like to have seen her become a regular on this program.)

CSI NY hits a very real, very painful nerve

This is surely one of the finest episodes of CSI:NY, as well as one of the darkest. A excellent look in at the world of human trafficking, this episode is both demoralizing and expertly crafted. The emotions are real and the images riveting. The opening 30 seconds is one of the best I've seen, the ending is just as good. Although the plot was forced to unwind quickly, it really didn't pose any problems. It was nothing short of heart-wrenching and mind numbing to watch the story unfold. As usual, the visual were superb. Fabulous performances and a great script combine to create this unforgettable and unmissable episode, one of the best I've seen in a while.

Hard Episode to Watch
tracielszakal3 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a hard, emotional, one to watch. Especially at the end, when the Ukrainian girl said goodbye to her Dad in the morgue. I cried! I can't understand sex traffickers and how they force these young, innocent, beautiful girls to torture and unspeakable things. I know most of these cases do not end up good or wrapped up like this. I wish we can eradicate these people from our world, these soulless traffickers. I do not trust anyone and watching CSI, any of them, makes it harder to trust people and all the monstrous things people do to each other. Very very sad indeed!!! I hope anyone stuck in this situation can get out, safely.
