The Connors go to a funeral
Tweekums6 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
After the events at the end of the previous episode there were inevitably going to be a lot of funerals so Sarah and her family decide to attend to try to find out what was going on at the warehouse. While there Sarah gets chatting to a widow while John befriends her daughter. They don't appear to know anything although eventually notices something rather strange; the daughter hasn't shed a tear sine they met her; not what you'd expect on the day of her father's funeral. Also there is a man working for Catherine Weaver; she is certain that one of those listed as dead has in fact survived and she wants him found. Back in Los Angeles Ellison learns that it is the anniversary of Catherine's husband's death but she acts perfectly normally; as if it was just another day; until he comments on her behaviour.

This episode may be fairly low on action compared to last week's but it was still enjoyable; there was a mystery about what the family was hiding and the drama of them learning some shocking truths about the man they thought they knew. The scenes at the town dominated the episode however I preferred those in LA as Catherine Weaver is the most interesting character at the moment; we know she is really a machine but her motives remain a mystery. Shirley Manson continues to impress in the role; acting almost human but not quite.

Perhaps the weakest episode so far

Warning: Spoilers
"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" is an extremely well-made series that's faithful both to the letter and to the spirit of the original films, but the second 22-episode season does feel dragged-out at times; "Desert Cantos" may be the episode most representative of that problem. There is practically no action, and the only thing that somewhat advances the plot happens in the last 5 minutes, and something similar has already happened in an earlier episode anyway. It wouldn't be inaccurate to say that nothing much of any consequence happens in this episode at all. The "John Henry"-Ellison-Weaver portion of the show has been more interesting than the four "official" leads for a while now, but in this episode Henry is absent and the other two make token appearances. The show needs to picks up its pace at this point. **1/2 out of 4.

The Machine From the Black Lagoon...

There's a wake for the living but he's dead, bit of an insurance scam, he's fled, there's a tunnel underground, nothing very profound, and a flying thing rises up and fills with dread.
