Disappointing
GenericID7 October 2009
I do love the usual nonsense that Family Guy extorts. It is fun, harmless, colorful and exactly what T.V. is meant for, a break from reality. But this episode, more than any other before, was truly disappointing. Not necessarily because there was no real laugh out loud moments which usually filled their earlier episodes but because they had a brilliant opportunity to revive the humor with a genius incident involving Quagmire not realizing there is such a thing as internet porn.

The entire episode, if not more, could have been based on this fact alone and would have been truly original in doing so but instead they stuck to boring religion crap. The writers should know by now that anyone who would have cared if they insulted Jews or Christians, would not be watching the show. Rather, any monkey could guess their target audience is the adolescent age group and college crowd and would have far more enjoyed seeing Quagmire discover the reams of porn, become addicted, have Peter and the gang help him and then have Quagmire (being a die-hard, a young Heff even) try to ban the stuff, wanting to stick to the original 'classic age of porn' with Playboy or something.

The entire lesson could have been based on how the internet has exploited the youth's boundaries and we don't get off on skin mags anymore. And even that bare outline took only five minutes of thinking.

Please put in a better effort and get rid of Brian and Stewie's gay little trips together. In case you don't know, FG is popular because of Peter, always Peter, and when Stewie is a vengeful genius. And for God's sake lose the song and dance numbers; utter annoying boredom. Know your audience!!

Complete waste of time that leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm not going to bore you with talk about how the episode insults all forms of religion and once again becomes far too preachy for its own good (even though I agree with the overall message that where one comes from doesn't matter). Family Guy was never supposed to be a preachy show, it was supposed to be a comedy. And there is the problem. This show was supposed to be hilarious but this episode just isn't funny. I don't think I laughed once. Now, I consider myself to be a pretty liberal person. But I don't see why family guy needs to be. The show was better when they made fun of everybody. Now they only make fun of republicans when they make political jokes but aren't above making terrible religion or race jokes. This just makes democrats look bad. Again, the problem is, that the jokes they tell aren't good. There, simple enough, I think. This episode was complete garbage.

Another Failure Episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Not 2 episodes into Family Guy, and they are already insulting religion, making fun of cancer, and so on. Normally I wouldn't mind, but it seems like the same old recycled writing as the other 7 seasons. Season 7 was a failure, and this one is turning out to be the same.

Basically it attacks Jews, Catholics, etc. They have the Jesus character show up, and then Peter asks what type of religion his family should be, in which Jesus replies "Stick with none, they're all a load of crap." Strong words for regular TV.

This season is going to be equally as bad to 7. Let's just hope they either get better writers, less opinionated bits, and back to the old, random Family Guy we all know and love. Otherwise, I can't see this series lasting for another season.
