Faith-shaking
kbtoys10020 March 2021
One Monday at Universal: Studio exec- That lego movie is making big bucks! We need to cash in. What you property can we get? *silence* The Intern - My cousin matched with a girl on Tinder with someone that works at Bobbleheads?

And so the first trumpet of the apocalypse sounded. That is, if one can believe in the lord anymore. How could a loving God allow such a blasphemy to be created? Were we not punished enough with Food Fight??

If you're the kind of person that watched Cats just because they wanted to see an utter failure, you're next movie has arrived, quietly dumped to Netflix.

Why?
alexyp9 December 2020
Why was this made? Who green-lit this? Who wrote this awful dialogue? The animation is bad, even by tv standards, and that the bobble-heads...well, bobble all the time is nausea-inducing. Not only that, in the "extended preview", I've already counted at least one continuity error. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

No but seriously, what a genius concept
TheVictoriousV20 December 2020
You thought we were at a loss for hope with the movie year of 2020, didn't you? You thought that huge comic-book movie openings were a thing of the past, and that grandiose premieres complete with red carpets and limousines were but a memory.

And while we've had the insurmountably layered I'm Thinking of Ending Things, the cleverly horrifying Relic, the magical Wolfwalkers, and late releases like Waves and Little Women in some areas, they all pale in comparison to the real savior of the year. The real masterpiece we all needed.

It is no surprise that Bobbleheads: The Movie was brought forth by one of the geniuses behind Disney's Beauty and the Beast, nor that it shares an art director with 2012's Foodfight. It defies such genre predecessors as The Emoji Movie by saying "What if we made a marketably cute, factory-made comedy based around an even less relevant product placement?"

I gather that director Kirk Wise isn't the only crewmember to have worked during the Disney Renaissance. Therefore, the true genius of Bobbleheads is how eye-opening it is, showing what the masters of old must resort to when the Animated Canon is dominated by Frozen look-alikes (and their sequels) whilst the older works are only permitted to exist in their "updated" forms - with more realistic graphics, less color, less expression, less thoughtfully directed song numbers, and other things that make the children-at-heart feel more adult and "serious" for watching the same sh-t over and over.

The defiance of Bobbleheads gets even better! Instead of focusing on FunkoPop figurines - an idea for a film you all know is coming - Bobbleheads does the less obvious, less predictable thing. These Bobbleheads are so important, in fact, that failing to respect them is what causes the family drama we behold in the movie. Each member of said family has their own favorite 'head; when nobody's home, the figurines come to life. I can't work out why that sounds familiar.

The cast is particularly rich, which makes sense when you realize the painstaking process behind matching these voices with the right figures. According to IMDb, this film was made "after 35 years of workshoping (sic) the concept with Cher on how to lend her voice to a character, before they finally settled on Bobbleheads". NOTE: In the movie, Cher literally just plays Cher. Bravo.

Bobbleheads expertly elucidates the pointlessness of it all. It says a great deal about the modern state of animation that not only are the old masters working on cash-grabs about pre-existing products, but they've seemingly also run out of relevant ones. Even fidget spinners would be a safer bet, if cashing in on popular toys was the idea. But that wouldn't have strengthened the film's masterful message. It doesn't even want to be hip. And yet it will be seen, because we must consume something. Anything.

This picture urges us to look at ourselves, and the role that products play in our life - a role that might have once been occupied by enriching art that inspires, entertains, and astounds. Bobbleheads: The Movie does none of those things and it's our fault. Well done, Universal. You have set us all straight!

Pointless
MB-reviewer18519 May 2021
The first thing I want to say is that I am going to have nightmares from how disturbing the bobbleheads are.

There was no need to make this movie, the animation is hard to look at and the voice acting is really weird and hard to listen to.

Pointless songs about bobbleheads and making up words with the word bobble.

And bobblehead Cher was frighteningly disturbing giving me nightmares especially with the heads always moving making you dizzy and nauseated.

princessmomothecatllama17 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Theres so much wrong with this movie starting with the phyisics like gravity literally doesnt work like that not to mention the trajectory of the bobbleheads was off by like a billion how could it tip the seesaw but like not bounce the trampoline i really dont get it the animation was also bad i feel bad for the guy who had to animated every frame of the bobbling heads the only thing that looked good was the water not even the house which btw looked like sf in an earthquake when a single bobblehead skateboarded theres so many mistakes but the most notible one was the plastic fur in the cantalope the gosh darn cat is a bobblehead he has no fur it was lazy and makes no sense not even the small love story between the skater chick and cyborg from teen titans could save this movie also why was chær there its a kids movie in 2020 guarentee kids dont know who that is it wouldve been better if they got like billion eyelash or like jojos bizare seeweed as the cameo there are so many continuity errors most notibly the shirt peanut butter im not even gonna start on how this movie clearly ripped off not just toy story but also Mobile Game Of The Year among us so blatenly its embaressing like how they just hid in the vents like it was their own original idea and then how Rei from Evangelion started to fix wires i cant beleive they would do this also i understand adoption is a thing but the dad from inside out and his so called brother dont even look related or the same like it wouldve been better if they just recycled the model the only redeeming quality was the end credit song not dance the song and only the song the only thing that would make it better was if it was sung by alvin n the chimpmunks or possibly hATSUNE mIKU nightcore or even the nicolas richard richard 2 and dawn of the final day (main characters) theme song

Soda can in the microwave...terrible example.
jennkeese9 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie started off cute but hen you find that the parents are not able to care for their own child and rely on their 13 year to do most of the child care of their infant. When the baby gets loose from the crib and nearly falls off the table the parents yell at the 13years for " not paying attention " even after she said she needed some "time off". If that was not bad enough there are small cuss words and name calling throughout the movie, topped with annoying head bobbling. The thing that got me upset was at the end, the bobbleheads are battling the bad guy and decide to put a can of soda in the microwave. As most adult know metal can easily start a fire in the microwave and cause serious damage. Children however don't know that and might follow the lead of their favorite characters in this movie.

Extremely poor decision to use that in a children's movie.

Do not watch. PLEASE.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is entirely abysmal. Why make a movie about "bobbleheads"?? They didn't even try to make this movie good at all. Don't watch this. It's for the best.

It's an animated movie
dino-donatelli15 February 2021
Any other semblance of coherence is lost. Dialogue is muddy, plot non-existent and the CG is at least 15 years out of date. Also having the characters "bobble" while talking makes me nauseous. This concept should have been thrown out immediately. My kid made me watch it . Great kids movie has layers of plot and something for the adults to laugh at. No layers here. No laughs. Just pain and this review. Avoid.

What
george_sano15 December 2020
At the time of writing, there are four reviews, plus this one making a total of five.

I think two of them are from Chinese review farms, the other two are 1-star.

This movie makes me feel high af
pressftopayrespectsimsad22 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
My little brothers made me watch this horrible movie. The brother of the owner just breaks in and eats his food. His girlfriend is a stealer and lightly abuses the dog, Dumpster. The awful animation, and the uncomfortable lovestory between the skater girl with low self esteem, and the baseball guy who looks like cyborg from teen titan knock off is definitely a turn off. It makes me nauseous watching the bobbles bobble when they talk. The stupid bobble head jokes are awful. I've heard that dumb bobble head creed over 2000 times in the movie. The parents are bad too for not having cameras in their house. The animation is so 2011 and the Japanese robot girl looks like a rejected power ranger. Please don't watch this, unless you want to feel high like I do. This makes me want to smoke pencil lead while doing handstands. Better off watching Cats: The Movie (2019).

So bad it's good.
exploringtiger15 February 2021
It's an ADHD slow burn for sure. I definitely wouldn't have watched or stayed with it myself but for the sake of the kids. Halfway through it gets better but not by much. It's almost like they were trying to make something bad. By the end I was laughing because the jokes get better and because of the campy sense of humor. Also enjoyed how poorly written it was. I want to watch it again only high AF with grownups.

boring and terrifying
wissmannsophia6 June 2021
Tried to watch it, but the plot was incredibly boring. Don't waste your time watching it. Also the character designs are god awful. Pure nightmare fuel. I'll give props to the voice acting because that was the only decent part about the movie.

Why?
emilyt-6705319 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what to say about this disaster film. That animation is okay but it looks like it came out of a Jehovah's witness cartoon. There's a lot of misinterpretation of cultures like the Hatsune Evangelion Miku referencing the dog as Godzilla, the mispronouncing of french words, and the 2009 skater lingo, and the stereotypes. The romance between the skater chick and baseball player was uneeded and uncomfortable to watch. I like Cher and don't think children are going to know who she is. I had gotten second-hand embarrassment for her for appearing in the film. They also never explain what the CREED is or the "high council", they just expect the audience to know. I don't recommend watching this for the cash grabbing nauseating bobble movie about a collectors item that died in the 70's

Why???
joshuakittelson13 August 2021
The best why to put this..... O don't know how to make movies therefore I do not. The people that put out this movie should admit the same thing. The animation and dialogue is terrible!!! I do get that the key demographic for this movie is children. With that being said, my 4 and 6 yr old lasted half the movie before losing complete interest.

My 6 year old son love loves this movie. Yes they bobble the whole time but its a fun kids movie and me and my son both hate all the singing in kids movies so this was a nice change.
