Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Brittany Murphy's character is found by her husband in a bathtub in a completely disheveled and altered state. This scene is particularly disturbing given Brittany Murphy was found dead in a bathtub only months after the completion of this film, the official autopsy report initially declaring her cause of death as a lethal combination of pneumonia, anemia, and multiple drug intoxication.
  • A juvenile is groomed to participate in violent crimes.
  • Ongoing themes of mental illness and cognitive dissonance including substance abuse, post-traumatic stress, dissociation, identity, trauma, intermarital conflict, and infertility.
  • Theme of perceived hauntings.
  • A crying baby is shown turning blue.
  • Brittany Murphy's character's psychological turmoil caused by trouble with conception are exacerbated by the fact of the actress's death mere months after completion of the film, unable to have a child in the following year as she had stated in an interview with Access Hollywood that she intended to do.
