"Batman: The Brave and the Bold" Day of the Dark Knight! (TV Episode 2009) Poster

James Arnold Taylor: Green Arrow, Guy Gardner

Quotes

  • Batman : We've just been teleported.

Green Arrow : [sarcastically]  Ladies and gentlemen, the world's greatest detective.

  • Green Arrow : Let's see. I've got 19, 22, 26...

[seeing Batman with a prisoner over his shoulder]

Green Arrow : And so have you. We're tied.

Batman : As if that really matters.

Green Arrow : Of course it doesn't.

Batman : [thinking]  So maybe Green Arrow and I are just a little competitive. It's not like we get carried away with it...

    [seeing another prisoner running away]

    Batman : ...much.

  • Merlin : King Arthur will be most grateful for all you have done. I have no doubt that he will knight you both.

Green Arrow : Whoa, whoa. Wait a minute. Why in the world would Arthur knight him? If it wasn't for me, you'd be a statue now.

Batman : And if it wasn't for me, you'd be dragon jerky.

Green Arrow : Just can't handle the fact that I showed you up again, can you?

Merlin : Dark Knight, archer, please.

    Batman : Again?

Green Arrow : As in always.

Merlin : This conduct is most unbecoming in candidates for knighthood.

Batman : As in, in your dreams.

[with a sigh, Merlin sends them back to their time]

  • Green Arrow : For the record, Bats, it was my arrow that nailed the demon.

Batman : Nope. Batgrenade took him down.

Green Arrow : Think your horse needs a rest from carrying that enormous ego?

  • Green Arrow : Come on, Bats. You're not gonna let her dance you around like a puppet, are you?

    [Batman jumps forward in attack]

Green Arrow : Okay, be that way.

  • Green Arrow : I guess we really do take this competitive thing way too far, huh?

Batman : Since we took Le Fay down together, when you think about, it, we're still tied, right?

Green Arrow : Right. And what's wrong with that?

Batman : [getting into the Batmobile]  Nothing.

    [getting an alert]

Batman : Break-in at Bank of Star City.

Green Arrow : I bet that this baby can get there before your bucket of bolts can.

Batman : [thinking]  I know, I know. Totally juvenile.

    [out loud]

    Batman : You're on.

  • Batman : If I turn out to be the one, you're not gonna take it personally, are you?

Green Arrow : Sounds like you're afraid I'm gonna top you again.

    Batman : Again?

Green Arrow : As in always.

Batman : As in, in your...

[seeing an ogre emerge from the water]

    Batman : ...dreams.

Merlin : Uh... did I forget to mention the ogres that protect the tower?

    Green Arrow : Ogres? Plural?

    Merlin : Brothers, I'm afraid.

  • Merlin : I turned to mystic runes to reveal the one person in all the universe, beside Arthur himself, fated to free the sword from the stone. Alas, they would only divulge that either of you might be the one who is worthy. Yet, now after seeing you in the flesh, it is clear that you, my Dark Knight, you are our shining hope.

Green Arrow : Oh, come on.

  • Merlin : You must forgive the suddenness with which I have brought you here. It was a desperate act by a desperate man. Not long ago, a student of mine, King Arthur's half-sister, Morgaine le Fay, seeking to wrest the throne from our beloved king, gathered her army and attacked Camelot. The Knights of the Round Table fought valiantly, but they were no match for Morgaine's enchantments. Nor, I'm sorry to say, was I. The student had surpassed the master. Camelot fell. All within the castle walls were enscorcelled, transformed into things of stone. And a terrible darkness fell over the land, but hope remains.

Batman : [seeing an image in the clouds]  The sword in the stone.

    Green Arrow : Excalibur.

Merlin : I hid it away years ago for just such a purpose. Only Excalibur's magic can defeat Le Fay and restore our king.

Batman : Then why haven't you used it?

Merlin : Only the one who is worthy can retrieve it.

Batman : And this is why you brought us here?

Green Arrow : Well, don't keep everyone in suspense, doc. Which one of us is the one who is worthy?

Merlin : The answer, I'm afraid, is not so clear.

  • Green Arrow : Okay, doc, where are we?

Merlin : Better to ask, "When are we?". It is the 5th century A.D., the place is Britain, and I...

[changing clothes in a puff of smoke]

    Merlin : ...am Merlin Ambrosius.

Green Arrow : No, really. Where are we?

Batman : [Merlin turns GA's arrow into a bird, which flies off]  I'm convinced.

  • Merlin : Yonder lies the tower of Excalibur, where the mystic sword is hidden. The time has come for the one who is worthy to enter the tower and pluck Excalibur from the stone. You alone can do this.

Green Arrow : You alone? Sorry, but the last time I checked, the mystic runes left this one up for debate.

Batman : [Arrow rides his horse forward]  He's so predictable.

  • Green Arrow : Well, that's 14 for me, Bats.

Batman : We're fighting for our lives against a horde of supernatural creatures. This isn't the time for infantile games.

    [taking down a two-headed Clayface-like monster]

    Batman : Fifteen.

  • Merlin : The spirits of the tower have borne witness to your victory, Dark Knight.

Green Arrow : [insulted]  *His* victory?

Merlin : You may now enter and retrieve Excalibur. Camelot is saved.

Morgaine le Fey : [appearing in a swirl of smoke]  Not just yet, Merlin.

Merlin : Excalibur's magic reigns here, Morgaine. No sorcery can prevent he who is worthy from reaching his destiny.

Morgaine le Fey : My dear teacher, I have no intention of stopping him at all.

[working her magic, a metallic suit of armor appears over the Batsuit]

Morgaine le Fey : In fact, I want the Dark Knight to reach his destiny, so he may gain Excalibur for his new master.

  • Batman : [stopping a prison break]  Really, Green Arrow. I can handle this myself.

Green Arrow : Afraid that I'll show you up again, Bats?

    Batman : Again?

Green Arrow : As in always.

Batman : As in, in your dreams.

  • Guy Gardner : Zip it, gruesome.

Batman : Don't agitate the prisoner, Gardner.

Guy Gardner : What, are you kidding? Agitating's the best part.

  • Guy Gardner : Watch it, lunkhead.

Kilowog : You watch it. You nearly stepped on my prisoner.

Guy Gardner : [laughing]  That's your prisoner? What'd you use to catch him, a mousetrap or a fly swatter?

Kilowog : Hey, this poozer's from the planet Kvell.

Guy Gardner : [in a baby voice, tickling it under its chin]  Ooh, does the mean little criminal need his diaper changed?

    [it spews out an insult]

Guy Gardner : [dumping his coffee cup on it]  Go soak your head.

Batman : Didn't you hear what Kilowog said? He's from Kvell.

    Guy Gardner : And?

Batman : And when Kvellians interact with any form of liquid, they get...

[the Kvellian grows to gigantic size]

    Batman : ...really, really big.

  • Batman : Need a hand, Guy?

    Guy Gardner : No.

[getting grabbed in the Kvellian's giant hand]

Guy Gardner : [in a strained voice]  Well, maybe.

  • Morgaine le Fey : You?

Green Arrow : I know, I know. I'm amazing, right?

Morgaine le Fey : You think your pathetic arrows can stop me?

Green Arrow : Maybe not, but I'm betting that this will.

Morgaine le Fey : [he struggles to pull Excalibur from the stone]  Only the one who is worthy can release Excalibur from the stone, and all you're worthy of is failure and death.

Batman : [moving to help him]  Maybe the one that was worthy is really two.
