Describing the warm, fuzzy optimism of an Idles record requires only the most pretentious adjectives — ebullience, exultation, jubilation — words that Idles frontman Joe Talbot would likely laugh at heartily before offering a pint to anyone who said them. This is a band who once titled an album, Joy as an Act of Resistance, and whose 2020 album Ultra Mono brightened the darkest moments of peak Covid lockdown with uplifting punk-rock mantras like, “Let’s seize the day … You can do it,” on “Mr. Motivator” and the chorus to “Kill Them With Kindness.

The next chapter of Ed and Lorraine Warren's paranormal adventures continue in The Conjuring 2, the new film from James Wan that's teased in its first trailer and new set of photos.
Press Release: New Line Cinema’s supernatural thriller “The Conjuring 2,” with James Wan (“Furious 7”) once again at the helm following the record-breaking success of “The Conjuring,” brings to the screen another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up In the Air,” TV’s “Bates Motel”) and Patrick Wilson (the “Insidious” films), star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.
The film follows the phenomenal worldwide reception of Wan’s “The Conjuring,” which marked the largest opening ever for an original horror movie.

With principal photography underway in Los Angeles, highly anticipated horror sequel The Conjuring 2 has announced its full cast list, and joining the returning Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, once again playing real life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren, are Ireland’s own Simon Delaney (Roy, Bachelor’s Walk, The Delivery Man) and Maria Doyle Kennedy (Orphan Black) in a tale that sees The Warren’s travel to North London to help a single mother raising four children alone in house plagued by malicious spirits, echoing the real life Enfield Poltergeist case that captured Britain’s attention from 1977 to 1979. Rounding out the cast are Frances O’Connor (The Missing), Madison Wolfe (Zoo), Franka Poente (The Bridge), Simon McBurney (Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation), and newcomers Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley, and Benjamin Haigh. Written by Wan, Carey & Chad Hayes, and David Leslie Johnson, The Conjuring 2 is set for release June 10th 2016.

It has been confirmed that disaster-prone assistant manager Fran Costello and his beloved St. Peter's Football Club will be back for another series. 'Fran' co-creators, Richie Conroy (Up for Air) and Mark Hodkinson (Roy) will shoot the new Emu Productions/ Snowluke Pictures series of the mockumentary in August. The first series of the mockumentary, that was funded by Setanta Sports/Bci, saw cameras follow Fran (played by Darragh Humphreys), the assistant-manager whose club hadn't been in the first division in nine long years and Richie tells Iftn that things are not likely to change in the second series. Other cast members involved with the series are Robert Byrne, John Kelly, Dermod Lynskey (Colour Blind) and Don Conroy (Draw with Don). It is written and directed by Richie and Mark Hodkinson and produced by Eimear O'Kane (Corduroy) for Snowluke Productions.

'Hotel Darklight' is to receive an Ifi screening on December 13th. The feature film is the result of a Diy project that ran as part of this year's Darklight Festival where filmmakers were asked to submit ideas for a 3 - 7 minute short film set in a mysterious Dublin hotel with a twilight zone-esque atmosphere. 80 submissions were received by the project's producer Declan Lynch (producer, Agoraphobia) and co-producer Alan Keane (writer, Roy) and these were whittled down to the ten projects which were all filmed over six days and which will now be screened together in the form of a feature film in the Irish Film Institute on Sunday, December 13th at 1.00pm.
