I stumbled upon the 2020-2021 documentary about the roots of the Norwegian black metal scene. How it all began, whom were the key players, and how it evolved, and I must say that this documentary is definitely one that is well worth the time of day.
I found the documentary to be rather enlightening. Sure, there was a lot of information here that wasn't exactly new to me, as I have been around listening to black metal since my teenage years. So I know a thing or two about the genre. But there definitely were new things brought into the spotlight as well for me. And I must say that the various interviews they did with various musicians in the black metal scene were interesting and enlightening.
There is an abundance of great footage of various artists and some good concert outtakes as well. Of course, the main focus is on Mayhem, as this was the root of black metal.
If you have an interest in Norwegian black metal, and if you get the chance to sit down and watch this documentary, I can strongly suggest that you do so.
