‘Better Call Saul’ Review: Bob Odenkirk and Michael McKean Spar in an Ultimate Clash of the Brothers
Last Week’S Review: ‘Better Call Saul’ Review: It’s Strategy Versus Will in an Episode of Showdowns
Case Summary
It’s the trial we’ve been waiting for, because Chuck (Michael McKean) is on a mission: To get Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) disbarred. Not suspended, but disbarred. The episode is, therefore, largely devoted to Jimmy’s hearing before the New Mexico Bar Association — the testimony of Howard Hamlin, followed by the playing of the fateful tape, and then Chuck’s own turn on the stand.
This has a number of repercussions, because Jimmy’s got a plan that (like so many of his plans) involve factors outside of the legal system. First off, it’s the arrival of Rebecca (Ann Cusack) to throw Chuck off his game — then there’s hiring Huell (yes, “Breaking Bad’s” Huell!) to plant a secret battery on Chuck’s body (something to which Jimmy...

Early Sunday afternoon, Will Forte made one last plea to his fans — and the internet at large — to catch up on “The Last Man on Earth” before it’s too late.
Tonight! 9pm! The 1 hour season (series?) finale of The Last Man on Earth. Why’d I include this vid? Some kind of hint?Plz spread word, Yft pic.twitter.com/KtqHq1exND
— Will Forte (@OrvilleIV) May 7, 2017
The video was as goofy, unpredictable, and ebullient as the series itself. It wasn’t as funny, but that’s because the efforts put into every facet of “Last Man” can’t possibly be duplicated by just two people and a cameraman. It’s a group effort, brought to beautiful fruition from each member of the cast, writers’ room, and production staff. Unfiltered joy can be felt emanating from the screen from the sets alone, making the aesthetics as enjoyable as the last minute twists.

[Editor’s note: The following review contains spoilers for the “The Leftovers” Season 3, Episode 4, “G’Day Melbourne.”]
Immediate Reaction
I doubt there’s a more telling shot for “The Leftovers” than the close-up of Nora sitting on the hotel bed, post-fight, as water from the sprinklers streams over her eyelid, masking the tears rolling down her cheek. Not only does it sum up the episode (and the pivotal final scene, which began with her putting tin foil over the smoke detector so she could have a cigarette), but it reflects the series’ predominant themes of grief and the misleading expressions of that grief.
Nora was crying, but anyone who walked in the room would just see water on her face — not tears. Anyone who walked in on her getting shot in the chest during Season 1 would see just that: a shocking act, not a woman trapped in a permanent cycle of mourning. If someone found out Kevin was talking to dead people, they’d see a man...

Last Episode’S Review: Live In Every Time Zone, It’s Jimmy Fallon
Last night, for just the second time in series history, “Saturday Night Live” went live in all U.S./Canadian time zones. First-time host and card-carrying member of the Hunky Chris Squad Chris Pine anchored the broadcast, which makes him the only “SNL” novice NBC tapped for the season’s fully live gigs. (Veteran hosts Melissa McCarthy and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are due up next.) Whether it’s for novelty, timing or ratings, there’s something undeniably magical about the live-live show, so does it really matter how Chris Pine and his sweet baby blues fared? Well, yes, actually. But we’re in luck: He crushed it.
Host: Chris Pine
Chris Pine has done everything from romantic comedies to major franchises, but remains just shy of a household name. So, how did he do off-book? Can...

Acclaimed out of SXSW, the beautiful and very twisted horror romance Nina Forever has a full trailer to writhe around with. From directors Ben Blaine & Chris Blaine, Nina Forever is an utterly macabre, and very darkly funny affair about a blooming romance and the very dead girlfriend that comes between. In the film, Rob (Cian Barry)…
