A perfect setup episode, but brought down by a loose grasp on social issues
riyakataria-146631 September 2021
This episode felt like the quintessential Supergirl episode, but a little better in a few ways.

Let me start with the good parts.

First of all, the Kelly/Dansen storyline was PERFECT. Their support and love for each other shines through the screen, and Leigh & Tesfai do a fantastic job of making sure that the audience sees how much their characters love each other. All throughout the episode, Alex is constantly supportive of Kelly, and it shows especially in the last scene of the episode. The promo stills for Episode 10 look like there's going to be a lot more of them to look forward to.

Tesfai is a particular delight in this episode, acting with grace and purpose. She brings character to Kelly through the smallest decisions that make the biggest impacts. Kelly's patience and kindness are a landmark of the show, and Tesfai's acting in the foster home solidify her skill at making her character shine. I won't spoil anything, but the way she treats the kids at the foster home gives a LOT to look forward to.

It's also wonderful to have Melissa Benoist back. Supergirl isn't really Supergirl without its titular character, and Benoist's return proves that. Kara's scenes with Kelly especially are fantastic, but her new friendly dynamic with William is also excellent, especially with the lack of a forced romance. Kara's decisions with Andrea are... not my favorite, but they're understandable. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of her.

Now onto my less favorite parts.

Social justice with this show is a hit or a miss. Often, they do try to shed light on important issues, but approach it from a watered-down and oversimplified view. It almost feels as if they believe every problem can be solved with a Supergirl hope speech--including racial incarceration problems in this episode. The way they allude alien discrimination to racism makes sense, but it's irresponsible of them to say that Kara faces as much discrimination as, say, an alien who presents as a Black man. Once again, I won't spoil anything, but I will say I'm disappointed with the way these issues were handles in this episode.

In addition, Lena's absence is really felt hard during this episode. I appreciate that they refer to her to at least show they haven't forgotten about her, but her interactions with Kara are quite a big part of what makes this show great, and there's definitely something missing from this episode. And after what happened with her and Kara in the last season, you would expect her to stick around a little more and spend time with her best friend (or... possibly more than a friend?). Hoping she's not gone for too long, since the audience should be looking forward to seeing her soon.

Lastly, though the episode is called Dream Weaver, there really isn't much Nia in there, aside from a messy C-plot thrown in about her and Nyxly. In general, her plot feels randomly thrown in, which is not at all how it should be. Hoping she gets more time next week.

All in all, quite a decent episode. It definitely has its flaws, but compared to especially last season, it does sit above the rest, particularly because of Tesfai's fantastic performance. They've laid the ground for some really great storylines, if they're able to follow through properly. I'm cautiously looking forward to next week's episode.

Not so good like the rating

Warning: Spoilers
It's the style of episode what I don't really like, it's not very interesting for me, the part of Nia and Mixly is cool but not amazing and the part of Alex and Kelly is yes but not amazing too and the part of Supergirl and the prisonners, Kara and Catco, I don't very like. It's the last seasons, we need an amazing and interesting things, there are no death or emotional moment since a very longtime, Supergirl who fight with human in the final fight, is bad and again Supergirl speech again and again. He miss a real vilain like reign who destroy every thing and badass, because if mxsly it's the vilain of season 6, i' don't very like. We're not afraid about her.

It's the episode like this in Supergirl that I don't care.

This episode is why the show got the axe.
hasansevik4 September 2021
Opening: Something mysterious is happening.

Discovery: Bad guys are doing bad things for... Who knows why. But who cares, they're bad guys.

Guilt: "It's all my fault. Everything's my fault." "No it's not, you're strong and smart and valuable to the team." Twist: Someone is being manipulated, but the strong, smart superheroes are too dumb to realise.

End: Everyone wins. Or do they? (Spoiler: they don't, but they will. Why? Because they're American and Americans always win.)

If real life Americans were as 'caring' as some of these shows will have you believe, they wouldn't be bombing the snot out of every other country out of fear and bigotry. But nooooo... Everyone with an accent that isn't American is evil.

Looking forward to the next episode because I'm sure it'll be completely different.

Not fun anymore
GomezAddams6661 September 2021
This series has lost all meaning to exist, is not a superhero show anymore, but a passive-aggresive ultra left wing propaganda machine.

They are not subtle about it, the episodes are boring, the writing is abysmal, it is a shame this series will end in such a dire note.

Supergirl Is a Criminal Now?!

Do DC heroes just break the law to get what they want? And Supergirl for that matter. This show has really gone of the rails.

Season 6 is horrible so far
perrycs-4915212 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed S1-S3 and it's been going downhill so fast especially in S6. The endless PTSD, the endless whining, the endless platitudes, the endless chopped discussions... who is writing this nonsense?

The stupid storyline about restricting kids with powers... typical garbage. What should you do? Let the kids have free reign with their powers? Or when they get out of control, suppress their powers.

Poor writing... like something written by a spoiled brat. Also, this season just crams so much into it ... it could be good, but the way it's written is horrible.

How can seasons 1 - 2'ish be so good, and the last season written so poorly.

How many times does someone disobey advice, then get in trouble, and then repent. Same old message, over and over and over.

"Don't do that" (someone does it anyways) "I'm so sorry for doing that".

Ugh...

I miss intelligent story telling...

Load of old rubbish
jamiekressinger2 September 2021
Who do you think you are writers. Opening sentence from a know nothing American writer saying "Meghan marker should be queen". No, she shouldn't and whoever wrote that line needs to keep there stupid dumb a55 opinion about my countries queen out of what is now a ultra rubbish show. Learn to write something worth watching and keep your ideals and opinions off the TV.

Over you idiots and your woke generation of total garbage.
