An unoriginal story w/some strong acting & great chemistry between the leads...
toddsgraham27 November 2020
Some years ago, I saw the Hallmark movie The Irresistible Blueberry Farm, which starred both Alison Sweeney and Marc Blucas, the two leads in this film. I can still remember the chemistry they had on-screen. It is one of my favourite Hallmark movies. This time around, it was pretty good too. Though the story is not as strong, the chemistry between the two is. The plot is not that original, of course, but the movie did engage me; i.e., it pulled me. This was primarily due to the acting. As I alluded to above, the acting and chemistry between the two leads are excellent. Alison Sweeney, a Hallmark regular, had a strong performance. Marc Blucas too performed well in this one. It is their interaction, their dialogue, which I found so appealing. The supporting cast's performance was, for the most, pretty good too. Is it me or do some of these Hallmark Christmas traditions only exist on-screen (in the Hallmark universe)? A three-legged race? That seemed odd. Also, is building gingerbread houses that widespread, that popular of a Christmas tradition? I know it exists, of course, but it appears in so many of Hallmark Christmas movies (this year, as well). In my hometown, a small village in up-state NY, we never once built gingerbread houses, nor did I know of anyone who did. Our village of a couple thousand or so inhabitants did have some public Christmas traditions (e.g., the lighting of the tree) but none of them included the building of gingerbread houses. Nor am I aware of any other village, town or (small) city in my county that had a gingerbread tradition. Hmmm...maybe it is a regional thing. The tradition that seems to be getting popular is the wishing tree; it has appeared in at least two Hallmark movies this year thus far. I am not sure if this is grounded in reality or Hallmark reality. Finally, the scenery and props in this movie were beautiful. For example, the decorations at the Mistletoe Inn were stunning (though maybe a bit too much for some). Overall, this was a pretty good Christmas movie: an unoriginal story with some really good acting and some great chemistry between the leads.

A very wholesome Hallmark Christmas movie...
paul_haakonsen16 December 2021
Well, somehow I wish I could just wrap this up by saying: another year, another sappy Hallmark Christmas movie.

But I can't. No. "Good Morning Christmas!" was actually a rather enjoyable and surprisingly nice Christmas movie. Sure, it had the traditional and archetypical sappy Hallmark romance that you have in just about every one of their holiday movies, but actually "Good Morning Christmas!" was more than just your run-of-the-mill romantic Christmas cheese.

The storyline told in "Good Morning Christmas!", as written by Riley Weston, was actually rather well-written and definitely captured that feeling of Christmas spirit and that romance that Hallmark tends to always make use of. But it worked. Oh yes, it worked so well in "Good Morning Christmas!".

Aside from having a greatly written storyline, then director Paul Ziller definitely had a good cast ensemble to work with here in bringing the characters to life on the screen. The movie starred Alison Sweeney and Marc Blucas, both of whom carried the movie quite well with their performances. And the two lead performers had a nice chemistry on the screen.

I was genuinely entertained by "Good Morning Christmas!", and it is certainly a movie that I can warmly recommend you sit down to watch if you enjoy Christmas movies.

My rating of "Good Morning Christmas!" lands on a seven out of ten stars.

Worth saying good morning to
TheLittleSongbird14 June 2022
Alison Sweeney and Marc Blucas are both Hallmark regulars, with more familiarity with Sweeney. Both of them have been in some good Hallmark films, such as Sweeney in one of the best Hallmark Christmas films last year and Blucas in a couple of Christmas films with a military theme. They were my main reason for seeing 'Good Morning Christmas'. Also because the premise sounded intriguing with a setting not seen a lot with Hallmark pre-2020 (has been used a number of times since though) and because Hallmark's 2020 Christmas batch has surprised me in a good way.

'Good Morning Christmas' on the whole did surprise me and in a good way. It is not always easy making a premise like this interesting, fun and heart-warming and generally all three are achieved. The film was seen for the leads and they and their chemistry do not disappoint. As far as the 2020 Hallmark Christmas films go, 'Good Morning Christmas' is in the high middle, close to best, category, and if asked as to whether it is worth watching the answer would be yes.

Did feel that it was a bit of a slow starter, with it taking a bit of time to get going and to connect with the characters.

Will agree too that the bickering was a bit too over the top and veered on mean spirited and the ending is on the too neat and easily foreseeable side.

However, there is a lot that works incredibly well. Sweeney and Blucas are very charming leads, playing their roles with a lot of gusto and heart while not taking them too seriously. Their chemistry is natural and genuine and the characters are not stereotypical ciphers, too perfect or overly-negative. The supporting cast is solid across the board.

Furthermore, the film pleases visually, lovely festive locations attractively and never drably or garishly shot. The music isn't as intrusive as it tends to be with Hallmark while the direction gets the job done well. The script doesn't get too cheesy or sentimental and does have a more natural flow when it becomes more settled. The story is not too heavy while taking itself seriously and is both warm-hearted and has a light touch when necessary. The conflict is not as forced or as predictable as it tends to be. Very interesting to see the festive traditions.

Overall, good but not great. 7/10.

charming

A charming Hallmark film. It is the simple, fair definition about this film It is charming for the smart construction of chemistry between lead characters.

For the inspired remind of importance of supporting actors work, basic gift of this genre of films.

For the air of old fashion romance films in which, yesterday , Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy are brilliant.

For nice flavour of TV show and small duels between presenter.

For encouragement from consacrated names to ordinary people and for the luge .

And for relation between siblings, contests, the poor childhood sketch and gentle fall of sentimental relation.

So, just charming.

Good actors, Story okay

Standard, but well done Hallmark Christmas Fare. G-rated for the entire family leaves a few gaps for the mature audience to fill on its own. But, enjoyed it just the same. Lots of smiles and great , interesting townspeople in Mistletoe township. All good. All masters of their craft.

Best of course is the Blucas/ Sweeney combo as leads. Lots of caring/ chemistry between them. Not even a hint of them as a perfect pair with a great script as in the awesome movie "The Irresistible Blueberry Farm". If you liked this one, try a great one like "Blueberry".

A Great One
fandomfatale10 December 2020
This has to be one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies ever. I check out quite a few of them but don't finish most of them. This one had my attention from start to finish. The sets were some of the most beautiful I've ever seen and the dialogue/script was a step above as well. Brian's transformation from "grinchy" to Christmas enthusiast felt realistic, as did the progression of Melanie and Brian's relationship.

Everyone has their own tastes, but for me, a lot of these movies have the two leads romantically interested in each other too early on. Good Morning Christmas! and Christmas by Starlight this year both distinguish themselves by not making that mistake. The burn is a little slower and the conflict keeping the characters from being attracted to each other is more substantial. I recommend both.

Very cute. I will watch it again another year for sure.

Love everything Alison is in. Didn't care for the male lead, it's not his fault but all I kept seeing is Ron DeSantis. He looks so much like him. And no way would the lady director/producer film them live without their permission. Bad idea!

Sweeney and Blucas
Jackbv12328 November 2020
While the story line of a pair of cohosts doing a live show in a "Christmas town" is not unique, it also isn't the most common premise. Having one or both leads participate in all the usual Christmas activities is very common. Misunderstandings causing a conflict, especially when a rival is involved is maybe universal in this type movie. While the ultimate outcome is inevitable, there is a nice twist that helped get it there.

The real attraction is the leads Allison Sweeney and Marc Blucas. I have loved both of these stars in several movies and they even did one together before. Blucas has hit home runs in 3 previous Christmas movies and Sweeney was great last year in one and good in one two years before. The two eventually developed great chemistry in this one after Blucas' character, Brian, stopped acting like a stuck-up jock. It took a little time for me to stop seeing Brian that way.

Can Allison Sweeney convince her co-host Marc Blucas that Christmas isn't so bad.
cgvsluis19 November 2023
I love both Alison Sweeney (Hannah Swensen's Murder She Baked...my favorite Hsllmark mystery series) and Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). It was fun to see them paired as two squabbling morning show hosts, Melissa Merry and Brian Bright for their show "Bright and Merry". Brian announces he is leaving the show at the end of the Christmas season, even though they are number one in the ratings. The two go on location for Christmas week to a town who won their show's decorating contest.

Filled with fun Christmas decorations, Jay Brazeau and Barbara Pollard who make a great Mr. And Mrs. Claus and Christmas activities...the real reason to see this show is Marc and Alison, separately they are wonderful but together they are fantastic. They look like they are made for one another.

If humor and Christmas cheer is what you're after, you may just enjoy this Hallmark holiday story that ends with a magical moment of truth.

Just wrong
deliabattie13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Why does Hallmark think it's romantic for people to fall in love with each other while one is already in a relationship? It is not aspirational or romantic! Also, the TV producer should be fired for broadcasting two people live without their knowledge or consent. That is also a terrible thing to do.

Don't miss this one
hmstargazer6 January 2021
Alison and Marc are my top character couple on Hallmark. They have chemistry, tension and both are very talented actors.

When I watch a Hallmark movie I look for reality and romance. So far I have found three movies that did that for me. This is one of those movies. When an actor can make me believe they are the character, they have won me over.

I watch this movie every time it airs. Some movies just win my heart and this one did.

Don't miss it, it is a great Christmas movie.

More romantic than you'd think
HotToastyRag16 December 2022
A Hallmark movie about bickering news anchors who have to finish out their contracts while finding their Christmas spirit in a tiny festive town - it doesn't sound like a winner, does it? Give it a chance, folks, because it is a lot better than it sounds.

Alison Sweeney and Marc Blucas have a very different style while on the air. Alison likes to rehearse; Marc likes to ad-lib. She's a planner who resents Marc's seemingly carefree attitude and thinks his career came easy to him because he transitioned from professional football to anchorman in the blink of an eye. (For those of you who don't know, Marc was also an athlete in real life before he became an actor.) Her callousness is sometimes hurtful, though, and Marc takes the time to tell her that he's worked just as hard as she has. As they get to know each other during the last week of their talk show, they might find respect and affection can take the place of a year's worth of hostility.

I just love Marc Blucas. He's so romantic! Every time I see him in a movie, he sweeps the girl off her feet with his teary love confessions and grand romantic gestures. The subplot of Good Morning Christmas may have tried my patience a bit (why do millennials think every pie-in-the-sky dream is inevitable if they find the 'courage' to 'go for it'?), but I very willingly stuck in there to see what Marc had in store for Allison later on in the movie. It was worth the wait, and I wasn't the only one who gave a little swoon during our movie night.

This would have been a pretty good Christmas movie had we not been watching a guy fall in love with a woman, but only during the times when his GIRLFRIEND wasn't around. Every character in the script is actively aiding, encouraging or cheering on the breakup of a relationship. Is it just me? Naughty List!

Opposites meet in the middle for Christmas
MickyG33323 November 2022
Compared to all movies: 6.7. Compared to Hallmark Movies: 8.4.

What a nice Christmas feeling from this movie. I must admit this is the first one of many the last two days that actually bursts with genuine holiday flavor. I can't put a finger on it, maybe it's the spontaneous and carefree acting style of Sweeney and Blucas. Yes, maybe they are a bit cheesy and dorky at times, but I feel this is authentic. You should see this just for that aspect alone. It's as if the director gave them freedom to go off script several times. Funny, but that's kinda the theme of this movie - life doesn't go by script, you gotta wing it.

There is a great symbiotic relationship that forms, she needs his spontaneity and he needs her stability. He helps her relax, she helps him focus, and together they meet in the middle. Brilliant.

This film conveys the message of what the Christmas spirit truly is: it's about simply loving it for what it is, not for what you get from it, and magically you will get so much more.

For entertainment value, and good feelings, acting, vision, and theme, I would give this an 8. Unfortunately, the pacing, and maybe the writing, side stories, and supporting characters are a bit off. There are some great lines, but something is lacking from the "it" factor. Remove the girlfriend, assistant mayor, and the chef wannabe girl, but keep the news producer-boss lady, she was good.

Ali and Marc team up again! Love it!
capital-332032 December 2020
For friends out there that enjoy your Hallmark movies, this one doesn't disappoint. Ali Sweeney and Marc Blucas have been in another movie together and were amazing. Its exciting to see another one with them. The storyline is interesting and the rivalry Of the two main characters is well done. The plot is interesting. It's been a rough 2020. This is a feel good movie that helps get us all into the Christmas spirit. Thank you Hallmark!!

A good one to watch
rochellehendrix13 December 2020
Although it follows the formula of other Hallmark movies, this was a pretty good one. I think it was because of the two actors playing the lead. I also loved the scenery which made this movie more enchanting than most. The only problem I had with the movie was how easily the girlfriend takes Brian's break up news but I understand that in the interest of time that's the way it was written. All in All, a very enjoyable movie.

A story that built around the actors
drippan-3928626 November 2020
I normally like Allison and Marc but this movie seemed to be written with them in mind vice telling a story. Well Hallmark did their job because I watched it for the actors thinking it would be good at least. Look, I understand the premise of opposites attracting but there was no pull to each other. It seemed like one minute they disliked each other, they flipped a switch and 'poof' they are attracted to each other.

Alison and Marc had great chemistry in this movie. It flowed nicely and didn't have any slow or awkward spots.

Would love to see a sequel with their same characters.

The story is unremarkable, and the protagonists don't really have a tangible chemistry. The acting's OK, the script's OK. It just didn't give me the feels.

Marc Blucas and Alison Sweeney bring the Christmas spirit
LMM2727 November 2021
Marc Blucas and Alison Sweeney make one of my favourite Hallmark couples, and I look forward to them teaming up again. They were so believable in The irresistible Blueberry Farm and have great chemistry here too in a different type of pairing. The look in their eyes, the smiles, the prickliness between them giving way to real feelings once they got to know each other. The magic of Christmas and the beautiful carriage ride at the end was perfect.

My two favorite actors but.....
smithduke11 February 2022
Normally I love Marc Blucas and Alison Sweeney together and separate! They are two of my favorite Hallmark actors! This movie was just okay. The director made Brian (Blucas) act goofy and and Melissa (Sweeney) angry. Blucas in much better as a rough around the edges, blue collar type of character. The other issue I had was with the character of Lexi. She seemed like she was almost stalking Melissa and just walked into her room without knocking or calling first. This movie was not even close to the chemistry Blucas and Sweeney had in The Irresistible Blueberry Farm.

The hairspray and highlights on a male leads hair was so ridiculous I just couldn't get past it and turned it off.

Outstanding Couple
deedee05 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Cons: Lexi is a pointless character. It is unbelievable that Marc's girlfriend and the deputy sheriff would be happy about being dumped. Yet again, another Hallmark movie set in a frigid climate where hats, scarves, and gloves are unnecessary. Diversity is great but are we to believe that rural Maine is as diverse as downtown NYC? The Pros: the acting and chemistry of the two main leads, Alison and Marc. Wow! They might be the best Hallmark couple. Their chemistry is amazing. I hope they do a sequel or another movie together. If the rest of the story was somewhat believable, then I would have rated the movie a 10.

Meanness and sarcasm between the leads; I had to turn it off
jaimepfeffer28 December 2020
I love Hallmark movies. I have seen 99.9% of the ones that have been released in the past 5 years, and I rarely stop watching a Hallmark movie because I just love them so much. Unfortunately, that was not the case with this one. I love the lead actors - they're two of my favorites - but I really didn't like the way they treated each other in this movie. Of course there is always something going on between the two lead characters, but this movie took it too far for me. There was so much cruelty and sarcasm between the two of them, that I had to turn the movie off about 30 minutes in. Disappointing, but thankfully most Hallmark movies are not like this. I hope this is not the way Hallmark movies will be going in the future.
