Warning: Spoilers
Thrillseeker Sweet Johnny (David Arquette) has plans to fly a lawn chair high over the town, powered by only 3 hot air balloons. Then an accident happens and in his mind, his life is frozen. Every time he goes to sleep, he wakes up thinking that its the day before his big balloon adventure and he has no memory that he's already lived that day. As a entry on the list, Earl is determined to help.

There's a lot of funny in this episode and Arquette makes a welcome new towns person. It's been years since he's left his place, so Earl takes him around town to show him how much its changed--including his girlfriend (who Earl cheated with years ago) who now has hips the size of Wisconsin. Joy and Crabman have an amusing B story about her gun ownership which ends up tying in nicely to the A story.

This season of shows has a much warmer feeling than the "prison" shows and finally feels like the series is going in the right direction again.

Johnny, you hardly knew ya

Sweet Johnny!

The contrast between Johnny's sunny personality and the darkness of his situation makes this episode particularly bittersweet.

That Earl can accept that there are things he never will be able to make up for is a sign of maturation, if only slight maturation.

Imaginative story-telling and meaningful comedy-writing.

Too bad the series was canceled.

Sweet Johnny!

The 10-line minimum for a review seems arbitrary, as if bloated reviews are preferred.

How ironic Katy Mixon lived up to her character in this episode.

Warning: Spoilers
It is extremely distressing to see how gorgeous and fit Katy used to be in 2008. But what's ironic is that in this episode her hot character gets extremely... bottom heavy over a ten-year period. Fast forward to 2018 and Katy is the star of her own sitcom: American Housewife - and she is GINORMOUS, though more proportionately than she was in the Earl episode. And in 2018 it wasn't a padded suit; Katy just got huge along with her success.
