Argonon, the super-indie behind “The Masked Singer U.K.” and “Hard Cell,” has launched a new U.S. production company that marks its first joint venture Stateside.
The new outfit, Rose Rock Entertainment, is a Jv with producer and former Spoke Studios executive Joe Weinstock, whose executive producer credits include reality hit “Duck Dynasty” for A&e and “Assembly Required” with “Home Improvement” star Tim Allen for History Channel.
Launching with offices on the West Coast and Oklahoma, Rose Rock will focus on delivering “cinematic Americana factual content” with an entertainment edge. The company will lean on Weinstock’s extensive track record finding talent in the heart of America, and build on his expertise of male-skewed factual.
The banner becomes the ninth global label in the group and underlines Argonon’s ambitions to boost its U.S. growth, build on its growing West Coast presence and long-term East Coast base,...

Joe Weinstock, Co-President of Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse Entertainment label Spoke Studios, has exited to launch a Jv with The Masked Singer UK and Netflix’s Hard Cell super-indie Argonon.
Rose Rock Entertainment will focus on delivering “cinematic American factual content” that is entertaining and edgy, building on Weinstock’s male-skewing factual expertise.
The indie will operate out of offices in Hollywood and Oklahoma and is Argonon’s first U.S. Jv, coming a few months after CEO James Burstall detailed a “strategic growth plan through international expansion and creative acquisition,” while shifting the U.S. development team from New York to LA. The Argonon West Coast office opened in 2020 and is overseen by Leopard USA Chief Creative Officer Lindsay Schwartz.
Weinstock joined Montgomery’s Wheelhouse-backed Spoke Studios four years ago and has since been responsible for the likes of Disney+’s Becoming, Discovery’s River of No Return...

Spoke Studios, the Wheelhouse-owned producer behind History’s Tim Allen show Assembly Required, is adapting a French comedy gameshow in the U.S.
The producer has optioned the rights to The Big Crazy Game Night (Le Morning Night) from France’s WeMake.
In each episode, two celebrity teams go head-to-head to compete in zany and irreverent challenges – from performing karaoke with alternate lyrics to screening, awkward or cringe-inducing videos without laughing. The winning entertainer of each episode will get some valuable airtime immediately after the show, while the losers will be amusingly punished.
The show was co-developed and co-produced by WeMake and Princesse Béli, the French company set up by Benjamin Morgaine and Lionel Dutemple. It aired in France on M6 in March 2020 and was the network’s biggest primetime launch of the year.

Less than two months after he reprised his role as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor on Last Man Standing, Tim Allen is revisiting his Home Improvement roots yet again, by way of History Channel’s Assembly Required.
Allen and former Tool Time sidekick Richard Karn (aka Al Borland) serve as hosts of the reality competition. Each episode pits three of the best and brightest makers from across the country against each other as they complete a series of mind-blowing builds. Tim Allen and Richard Karn are reuniting again 30 years after their “Home Improvement” days for the History Channel’s forthcoming unscripted competition series “Assembly Required,” but don’t expect sitcom shenanigans while watching. Instead, the duo will lean into their real-life friendship and tried-and-true on-screen chemistry for a “kind of a live version of ‘Tool Time,'” Allen explained, while spotlighting the best and brightest makers from across the country with a can-do attitude and a competitive streak.
During the network’s Television Critics Association winter press tour panel Thursday, star Allen and host Karn gave the rundown on the new hourly 10-episode reality show, joined by the series’ own resident expert April Wilkerson (known best for her DIY woodworking and metalworking videos on YouTube), and Brent Montgomery, executive producer.
“Assembly Required” pits three builders head-to-head as they hammer, chop, arrange and assemble mind-blowing creations out of everyday household items in desperate need of fixing.

What time is it? Well, it’s almost time for “Home Improvement” stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn to reunite for new History channel competition “Assembly Required,” a project that’s a perfect fit for two guys who hosted the fictional handyman show “Tool Time” for eight years.
But Allen says he “never even thought about” having Karn host this series, which he called “kind of a live version of ‘Tool Time.'”
“My only hesitation was I didn’t want to embarrass myself,” Allen told reporters during a virtual panel for “Assembly Required” at the Television Critics Association winter press tour Thursday, ahead of the show’s Tuesday, Feb. 23 premiere at 10/9c on the History channel.
“We’re very similar to the characters we play in that show,” Allen said.
We’re not sure if he meant “Tool Time,” the show within a show, or “Home Improvement” itself, which...
