Compared with last year, Fortissmo Films come packing with only a single title, but that doesn't mean their sales agent won't be spending pretty much the entire festival from their rented office balcony. They signed a fairly ambitious deal with Fox - first time I've heard of a major studio outputting their titles to a films sales company of this nature and they've got one receiving a world preem at the festival in Sergei Loznitsa's My Joy. - Compared with last year, Fortissmo Films come packing with only a single title, but that doesn't mean their sales agent won't be spending pretty much the entire festival from their rented office balcony. Among the hot titles on the sales side of things is Anh Hung Tran's Norwegian Wood – a pic that I was sure was going to land a spot in Cannes this year, but appears to still be in post prod.

A first, simply stunning (if short) teaser trailer has just dropped for The Warrior and the Wolf, the upcoming Chinese historical action film directed by veteran filmmaker Tian Zhuangzhuang. Joe Odagiri and Maggie Q head the cast in this epic drama with a supernatural twist. A co-production between Edko Films and Focus Features, the film is due to be unveiled at The Toronto Film Festival next week. Warrior and the Wolf is tipped to open in Hong Kong in December, and better yet, word is its heading for a release in the U.S next year.

As any regular rerader of this site will know, we are big fans of Japan’s Joe Odagiri around these parts and loyal followers of his career. And Odagiri has been on a bit of a world wide tour of late, taking on roles outside of his native Japan, one of the longest brewing and most interesting being Chinese epic The Warrior And The Wolf, in which he stars opposite Maggie Q. For a film with two such high profile stars, this one has been keeping a remarkably low profile on the market circuit and snuck in to the lineup of the Toronto International Film Festival so quietly that I honestly missed the initial announcement. But not now! We’ve just been passed our first look at stars Odagiri and Q in the film and the look is absolutely gorgeous. Hit the link below to see a much larger version...
