Not the funniest, but worth your time
violentjkd15 November 2020
This was not the funniest show I've ever seen. In fact, some of it was downright bad. But the funny isn't why I loved it, the unfiltered honesty is.

You spend 49 minutes with a group of comics-most of which you probably have no familiarity with-discussing their issues and fears about the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected them professionally. They're nervous about material, settings, rustiness from being offstage so long and what the future of standup holds.

I recommend it, but almost more as a documentary than a standup special.

Don't Watch

At about 48 minutes, this is just about the perfect running time before bed for a little comedy and then read a book and turn off the lights. Sadly, there's no comedy here. The stand-up acts are so weak and lane that Quinn feels compelled to insert reaction cutaways with other comedians during the acts. This is very distracting and the wirse thing is neither the snide comments or the act themselves are remotely funny.

oof

As someone who enjoyed Colin Quinn on SNL and Tough Crowd, this is really painful to watch. he brings in Rich Vos in an attempt to get cred for the remainder of the fake woke, depressingly unfunny comics in the show. it's laughless, soulless, and sad. if this is the, "future of comedy," then comedy is already dead and we're beating a dead horse. there are more chuckles watching someone slowly die from alcoholism that rips their family apart than you'll find, desperately searching, in this comedy special. just terrible.

big mistake

Somehow all the bombing he did last 20 years didn't finish. but this one will finish him for sure. that was horrible. bad idea, poor material that obviously wasn't tested at all, performers felt uncomfortable. just painful to watch

An honest film that portrays the struggles comedians are facing as a result of COVID-19
mallorymire10 July 2021
I think some of the few reviewers have somewhat missed the point of this film. I don't believe this was created to wow an audience, it was more so providing a glance into the current situations that comedians are facing. I felt that this special was created to emphasize how necessary social interaction is in order for stand-up to be successful and how the lack of it affects the comedic community. This film shows their struggles and how much of an impact it has had on their careers. This special was not made to be a knock out, it was made to reveal the ugly, honest side of comedy that we don't often get to see. These people were doing performances in front of cars, communicating to VEHICLES... How awkward and intimidating must have been. That's what this special captures. Anyone who has the audacity to criticize these comedians must really be out of touch with our reality. Comedians are human! The ones who participated in Collin Quinn & Friends were brave enough to allow their failures to be documented and shared just to provide us with some insights and perspectives that we don't see otherwise and that is what was amazing about the special. I enjoyed it and found it be worth the time investment!

Concept Funnier than the Movie
arfdawg-130 November 2020
Firstly, none of the comics wear masks when they are interacting with one another.

Then you can't hear the laughter cuz people are in cars.

Doesn't matter, tho. They aren't funny. The days of stand up are over. Let's face it. The people working today are just facsimiles of comics of yesteryear.
