This is another one of those waste-my-time The Bill episodes.
Part two has armed gunman, Jake Quinn is played by Casualty actor Christopher Colquhoun has two teenage schoolgirls one he befriends and other is asthmatic her breathing annoys me.
Callum Stone volunteers as hostage negotiator even using Nicola Parry (the married woman Jake is obsessed with) even Jake isn't fooled: asking Stone why he's stringing her along, Quinn is in controlling things in his head. Plus, Nicola's husband Gerard victim of wrongful arrest in part 1, rightly say why they didn't arrest Quinn when they told them he's was an obsessive nutter!
Unwanted bigshot Smithers tries to play heroics again, he presumably got shot, and his overprotective colleagues assumed he's seriously injured or possibly dead. Us viewers didn't see him (as well as Quinn and girls) for about ten minutes at start of episode just after the gunshot rang out.
It's a bittersweet ending to see beloved character Gina Gold leaving, or rather resigning from the service after considering it her life, even though she knows times are tough especially after losing Emma, Callum and Sally nearly drowned at wharf few weeks ago.
