Stupid Flanders
Gerardrobertson6126 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I found this episode to be another one of those episodes where we learnt just abit more about Homer and Marges pre marriage relationship, although it also entwines with a story from 5 years ago.

Flanders is in this episode in what really is the first time Homer and Ned meet, and although Homer likes him at first, we do get the "stupid Flanders" later in the episode. The testing of Marge and Homer marriage is once again flogged and they could have left out the Spanish guy and the woman who seduces Homer, but the kids in the pedal car, and arguing like a married couple is a humorous touch

Eehh. An Okay Episode
e_daneva29 December 2023
Dangerous Curves is an okay episode. I have watched 7 other Season 20 episodes and there was 1 okay, 3 okay, 3 good, and 1 really good. This episode falls in the okay category. There is two stories in this flashback episode. One is okay and one is kinda bad. The stories are constantly rotating at unnecessary times. I just think that they should have tried to do the stories one at a time with no interruptions at all. I will give mini reviews for the two flashbacks.

Flashback #1. This was the kinda bad flashback. As another review pointed out, It ruins Simpsons history, but I guess this episode should be considered non-canon. But still. Also the episode just ends. That's what really annoys me. It feels like they just forgot about this flashback. In all, I give this a 5.6 out of 10.

Flashback #2. We have seen this happen to Marge and Homer a billion times. This flashback isn't good, but it isn't bad. An okay flashback. In all, I give this a 6.2 out of 10.

This episode experiences too much breaks in the action. This isn't the best of the season but this isn't the worst of the season. So far though, this aims at closer to the worst. In all, I give this a 6.1 out of 10.

Sweet Episode that Further Develops Homer and Marge's Relationship,
lesleyharris3016 September 2014
Dangerous Curves is a great Simpsons episode with a very well written storyline and loads of very funny scenes.I liked seeing more relationship issues from Homer and Marge, they are always filled with conflict but you know in the end they will always resolve their problems,I also really liked getting to see three different parts of their life, when they first met and were very in love, when they were recently married and the present day,I thought the middle one was certainly the most interesting and seeing it come back to bite them in the present day was also very good.Dangerous Curves is a sweet and funny Simpsons episode.

While visiting a cabin with their kids,Homer and Marge start to reminisce about the other two times they visited.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the other reviewer.

Warning: Spoilers
Oh look, another flashback episode! But wait - This time it's not just one but TWO flashbacks to the relationship of Marge & Homer. We go back to before they're married and another to when they've been married for a while with two kids. We also have the two stories link up to the present day as well.

In the oldest time-line we see the two hitch-hike with the newlywed Flanderses. Forget that the two families didn't meet until the Simpsons moved to their current home as seen in "Lisa's First Word", maybe both groups had an unspoken agreement to never mention it? This is further proof that the modern writers either don't know about the classic years or simply don't care.

Ned is on full religious psycho mode here. It's in-character for him to give the two notly-weds separate rooms but to put a bear trap outside Homer's room? That crosses a line. Later he'll be turned on by Maude on honeymoon night by her covering up more and will have her spy on Homer and Marge the next morning with a water pistol aimed at his crotch. No really.

In the middle time-line we have both parties lie to the other as the two both nearly have an affair at the same motel where they were on the Flanderses honeymoon but get stopped when they find the other one there and forgive each other. Neither knows what the other was about to do and in the present at the SAME place we see their prospective partners have themselves got married. The Simpsons learn the truth and are shocked leaving them to fear for their marriage.

The plot REEKS of 'bad sitcom' throughout, especially in the middle time-line, and as mentioned, ignores the established history. I mentioned earlier in this review about the ignorance of the meeting of the Flanderses and Simpsons continuity in "Lisa's First Word" but it also tramples on the status of the Simpson parents' relationship during the events of "Lisa's Sax", an episode that must take place just after the middle time-line of this episode. It seems that these Zombie Simpsons flashback episodes want us to believe their relationship is a shambles no matter what stage of their relationship they're at. It's a wonder they're still married at all (Wait until later this season when we learn they're not).

This episode has a intriguing premise but it fails massively. The writers need to start paying more attention (that is any attention at all) to the show they're working on. And can someone explain the ending to the episode when various modes of transport start splitting in two for no apparent reason?
