It is a little better then the very first episode of the second series but it is sad. It is a very sad story it's a lot to take in. But it is brilliantly executed and well deserved to. It was a great start and a couple of new actors on Sarah Jane that is what makes it good, still not as good as Doctor Who in my opinion. Which most people prefer Doctor Who as well. and I really like Russel T Davies who does Sarah jane and Doctor who.

The Last for Maria

Review of both parts:

This marks the last adventure for Maria as her father Alan gets a job offer in America. The young actress who plays Maria, Yasmin Paige, and the actor who plays the father, Joseph Millson both did a great job throughout their time and thank goodness RTD and the team managed to create a new family who replace them and are equally good in terms of writing and acting.

The storyline involves a Sontaran whose entire fleet was destroyed leaving him as a lone warrior on Earth intent to restore his honour. It is a decent storyline and is handled in an entertaining way. It is worth noting Sarah Jane (Lis Sladen) had her debut in Doctor Who in the same story and same episode as we first met a Sontaran and had another encounter in a later adventure too. So they have some history as adversaries.

The solid dialogue, acting and plot make this a lot of fun and the Sontaran himself is done so well that it actually strengthens the Sontarans as a threatening, impressive race. Far from the way they would be handled as an amusing comedic sideshow in Steven Moffatt's era of Doctor Who. There is humour of course but this Sontaran is also menacing and convincing as a force to be reckoned with. The only downside was when he was unable to get through closed metal doors when I would have thought his weaponry could have been used.

There is a sad farewell to Maria and Alan but the series continues as strong as ever.

My ratings: Parts 1 & 2 - 8/10.

Farewell Maria and Alan.

With Kaagh on control, Sarah Jane and the team need to rely on help from an unlikely source.

Talk about spoilers, I'm glad the writer of the synopsis didn't write the description to Agatha Christie's And then there were none, we'd have known the killer straight off........joke.

It's been a very strong start to the second series, and it's nice to see a monster from Doctor Who's history return, nice also that it wasn't a Slitheen. It's fast paced, it has some action, and it's sweetly sentimental.

That scene where Maria tells Like about America was lovely, but you do question her timing, how on Earth that boy managed to concentrate at any point is beyond me.

I love the way that Chrissie finally gets to learn what's happening, well at least for a short spell, not only are we losing Alan and Maria, but we're losing Juliet Cowan and her Sally Jane jokes. Maybe they'd misjudged her all along.

Let's hope series 2 continues like this, 8/10.
