Brilliant Brigadier Brought Back Beautifully
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic21 January 2020
Review of both parts:

This has a few flaws and is not the most exceptional story but it is solidly entertaining and has a wonderful aspect in that it brings back the Brigadier.

Sarah Jane and the Brigadier teamed up in the 1970s in Doctor Who stories with the Third and Fourth Doctors and the Brigadier had featured since the Second Doctor's era. He is a very important character in the show's history and is rightly very much loved. To see Nicholas Courtney back as the Brigadier and working with Lis Sladen as Sarah Jane is nostalgic, lovely and brings the show's past to a new audience is a really nice way.

The Bane are represented brilliantly by Samantha Bond who is great as Mrs. Wormwood. Their full alien realisation is less impressive but is ok. The plot is nothing special but provides fun, humour and entertainment.

My ratings: Both Parts 7.5/10.

8.6/10 Perfectly entertaining

Acting

The acting was on point and really did love the whole episode mostly because of the acting. Sarah Jane performed really well like she normally does, her real name is Elisebeth Slayden who excels in acting sometimes

Plot

The plot is really good. The ideas are great and the themes and the music is perfect in every way.

Music

Murray Gold has done some great music for Doctor who, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane adventures, Class. So to be successful at doing the music in four TV shows just shows how good Murray Gold is. He has made some great music for the BBC down the years and what makes his music sound really good is because the tone of it is great.

Villains

The villains in the SJA are always really good and that's what makes this show really good. They have some really good moments and all of it is very Memmorable.

The Cast

The cast is absolutely great.

Sorry I haven't been reviewing this week, it's because I wanted to wait until it was a decent time to do one

UNIT Madness!

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed every second every scene of good old Brigadier! God, it's been a honor for him for acting as the Brigadier for like 40 bloody years, damn. He has been such an amazing character, I enjoy every scene with him, one of my personal top favorite characters of Doctor Who ever. Too bad that he didn't see The Tenth Doctor in The Wedding of Sarah Jane Sarah, I love reunites. Man but this isn't the actual last time where Nicholas Courtney acted as the Brigadier, he later was in a home video which is named "Liberty Hall" something about an in-universe interview with him at some public school, the home video was released in August 10, 2009.

As for the plot, eh, it was alright. I didn't quite like the low-budget look for the real form of the Bane. I don't dig it, but hey, it was 2008 back then. Quite entertaining!

Friends old and new return for a big episode.
Sleepin_Dragon7 August 2022
Sarah Jane receives a cry for help from an unexpected visitor, Mrs Wormwood. To help, she needs the help of an old friend.

The story is good, there's a lot going on, the visuals are nice, and of course it's good to see the return of a couple of villains, however, this will always be notable for one thing, the return of The Brigadier.

I always wish Nick Courtney had appeared in new Who, he should have made a couple of guest appearances, this was the next best thing however, that chemistry between Sladen and Courtney was still there.

I liked seeing Mrs Wormwood back, and I'm keen to know if she is being hounded by The Bane, or if it was just a trick.

Well produced, it looks pretty good, I definitely think the special effects were more ambitious than normal, and they look decent.

This was good, 8/10.
