The last big trouble-maker!

"We Shall Remain" is a five-part series by Ric Burns (Ken's brother) on the history of the American Indians from "The American Experience". However, it should be understood that it is NOT a comprehensive history. There are many gaps, omissions and most tribes are not discussed in the shows. This is simply because with five parts, there just wasn't enough time to do the subject justice.

This fourth episode is all about Geronimo and his lengthy battle against Mexico and the United States. While not a chief of the Chiracahua Apache, he was a warrior who led a band of his people who resented the mistreatment of the American Indians so much that they became so-called 'renegades'--folks at war with practically everyone. It's a fascinating story about one man and a few followers who refused to accept the march of time...and how, in some ways, he got away with it. Fascinating throughout and yet another excellent episode of this wonderful short series from "The American Experience".
