Grows on you

I found this film to be both haunting and violent. It's definitely a horror film, a good one.

Very convincing acting and decent script. Perhaps there needed to be more to the film, with regards to the story, but then perhaps not.

I think I need to re-watch it a couple of times to 'get it'.

Very slow paced, but didn't find it boring as most other comments did.

Sylvie Mix was very, and I mean very easy on the eye.. her personalities really showed through.. Norks I mean she has great norks...

Sad to see the nice guy get done like that though...

Double Walker
BandSAboutMovies27 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Directed by Colin West, who was also the cinematographer and co-writer along with producer and star Sylvie Mix, Double Walker presents a unique take on the ghost mythos in that it has A Wonderful Life edited throughout and gives us a world where when young girls die, their ghosts eventually age into young women that hunt and kill predatory men with a spoon and then drink their blood and also try to solve their own murders.

The tagline says it all: She was given two choices: live one more day as a human, or live forever as a ghost. She chose the latter.

There's a moment in this movie that totally took me aback, as the Ohio-shot snow footage began to play backward. It's a disquieting and strange moment in the midst of a film that's split between bloody revenge and longing for a return to life. And it's perfect. It knocked me out and made me love everything that followed.

Interesting concept but that's about it
heather-bell-3972816 November 2021
Veeeeeeery slow. I kept checking how long was left and expecting something to happen. The idea of the film sounds interesting but I had trouble snot getting up and doing chores etc while it was on.

I thought I was going to like it but I ended up literally dying out of boredom to get to the end it could be much better sure it had it's good moments and the story was interesting but that doesn't change the fact that it's really boring and slow.

It's has some atmosphere. First half was better than the second. Could have done with the whole 90 mins. The leading actor is very easy on the eye. Highly recommend it his movie.

Moody, thoughtful ghost pic
tellstar15 November 2021
Intriguing supernatural story that follows a ghost who is offered a chance to settle some scores. Strong performances and cinematography underpin frequent jaunts through time and space, and a big nod to A Christmas Carol. The story provides no easy answers, as we're not even sure the Ghost is a reliable narrator. However, I don't believe the filmmakers are being deliberately obtuse here - too many rationalize lazy storytelling as artful. In this case, they're simply asking you to pay close attention before drawing your own conclusions.

Incredibly slow paced and pointless crime mystery...
paul_haakonsen15 November 2021
Wow, this movie was a swing and a miss.

Sure, when I stumbled upon the 2021 crime mystery titled "Double Walker", I must admit that the movie's cover/poster and its synopsis definitely had some appeal. I hadn't heard about "Double Walker" from writers Sylvie Mix and Colin West prior to sitting down to watch it. So I wasn't really sure what I was in for here. But the movie's synopsis and cover definitely had captured my interest.

But the narrative in "Double Walker" was insanely slow. And nothing interesting or worthwhile ever happened, so it was just feeling like director Colin West was prolonging the suffering that the audience was being dragged through. I kid you not, this movie was insanely slow paced and uneventful. In fact, it was so boring that I managed to suffer through 40 minutes of the ordeal, and then I just gave up out of sheer and utter boredom with just 30 minutes left. And let me just be the first to tell you that I am not returning to watch the rest of "Double Walker". It just isn't worth the effort.

The acting performances in the movie were adequate, I am sure of it. But it was hard to really get a clue here, because the actors and actresses virtually had nothing to work with in terms of an interesting script and storyline, properly fleshed out characters or compelling dialogue. I didn't care one ounce about the storyline, because it was so slow and pointless. And with no storyline to submerge myself into, then I just couldn't take a liking to the characters, especially so since they were all flatlining and bland.

Sadly, the movie's cover/poster was actually the best thing about the entire ordeal.

My rating of "Double Walker" lands on a generous two out of ten stars. The production value is what salvages the movie and rescues it from a landing a flat bottom-scraping one star.

Novel and interesting
drjacobgrayson8 January 2022
A mystery/horror with overlapping layers out of chronological sequence make it intriguing to the end. Its in the man-bashing revenge genre, just fyi, and the men in this film have no redeeming qualities of course.

Good Actress Bad Storyline
billcr123 February 2022
Sylvie Mix is beautiful and sexy and needed a better script. The atmosphere reminded me of Carnival of Souls. The ghost with no name wanders around and kills people for no apparent reason. He flashbacks are maddening and the ending silly. I hope for better things in the future for the actress. The four points are for her.

Must see it twice!
joshjordan-5981017 November 2021
I went into this movie not knowing what to expect. When I left the theater I was scratching my head. I went back the next night to see it again and OMG. It all clicked for me. This is an amazing indie film, with great acting, Ralph Scott was a personal stand out for me, commanding screen presence. You really must see it twice, at least if your brain is as slow as mine. Going to watch it again tonight to see what else I pick up, can't wait.

Momma trouble
begob9 September 2022
A mysterious woman walking barefoot in the Ohio winter attracts the attention of a series of men, who get more than they expected from the encounters.

Interesting story of a ghost within a dream. The opening shot is a closeup on a human face - always a good start - and the narrative is broken up by flashbacks, filling in the details as the mystery unfolds.

The lead performance is sensual, the editing keeps up a decent pace, and there are many lingering shots to fill out the sense of place in this dour little town. The music opens with nervous, tinkling piano, but largely relies on winsome unplugged grunge. Is that a thing? Whatever, it's a good choice.

Cleverly, the key to the plot is in the retelling of another dream by the ghost within the first dream, and the critical reversal is signaled by a short sequence of snow and a passing train. The problem, though, is that this is not the story of the ghost, but of the woman we meet in the first shot - and we are told nothing of her inner life. A category error. Instead of a weird reflection of her grief and guilt, we end up with a flat revenge tale plus redemption tagged on before the final reveal.

A further problem is that I didn't see the connection between the ghost and her victims. Maybe I missed something obvious, or mistook an implication, but what did they do to her to merit this treatment? The closet scene in the climax seemed to leave us with only one baddie.

Still, I enjoyed the mood, and there was enough intrigue to keep me engaged.

A bit mystery, but overall too slow, and full of annoying overuse scene! Avoid at all cost!

Warning: Spoilers
This film start with a woman waking up, and she cleaning the floor scene! As turnout, this film is about a ghost need find out who actually killing the younger self of her! We found out is her father at the end! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the walking scene, overuse of the searching scene, overuse of the staring scene, overuse of the drinking scene, overuse of the long angle scenery scene, overuse of the lying down scene, overuse of the driving scene, overuse of the peeking scene, overuse of the narration scene, overuse of the song playing at the background scene, overuse of the flashbacks scene, and overuse of the watching movie scene! Make the film unwatchable! At the end, the ghost killing the father to save the younger self of her! That's it! Wasting time to watch!

Very unique story with a wonderful ending. Had my circle debating the choice. Great young talented cast, particularly the little girl. Mix and Rice had great chemistry.

A very interesting story
deadgirlrising15 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ghost is gorgeous and tragic. She was killed as a child and seeks revenge on her abusers. Love her with the spoon. I found it to be a touching story of abuse and how that abuse plays out in making victims feel like shades that are only seen by their abusers. There is a redemption arch in the last act. The actors do a well enough job. I enjoyed the cinematography. Her story doesn't come all at once, but pay attention to who comes in the house of the little girl and who are at her funeral. Great concept, you have a choice to live one more day and put all your affairs in order or live forever but only sinners and believers can see you. Very interesting story. No, it is not a high budget hollywood blockbuster. It is a nice, independent, fairly low budget horror film.

ETA: I've watched it a few times more and like it even more. I like watching it.

Worth a second look !
ianclarke34023 November 2021
I watch many films and am constantly looking for something different, this is one of those rare moments !

Superb cinematography and a very intriguing storyline make this a very unique experience which is well worth taking the time to watch.

I love how it requires a little bit of patience to work out and nothing is too obvious. I also loved the performance of the lead actress Sylvie Mix who has very little to work with and almost no dialogue but does a superb job despite these restrictions !

Most people would benefit from a second viewing IMO !

Hauntingly beautiful
cailynandpeter18 November 2021
There are so many scenes in this movie that are visually inspiring and captivating. I can't get over the cinematography. The story and characters invite the audience to be introspective and ask themselves what they would do in this unique situation; determine the difference between an opportunity and a curse.
