Gravitas Ventures released the film in 2010. Indie Rights re-released the film in 2017.
The climactic scene of the film, which involves a special camera that the crew is forced to use, was originally an online comedy sketch by director Jonathan Smith. He then repurposed the sketch for this film since it worked perfectly for the story.
Actors Joel Spence and Matt Walsh improvised the line "Balls-deep acting!" on set.
The film was shot in 14 days during October of 2008. Director Jonathan Smith personally funded nearly all of the shoestring budget.
Director Jonathan Smith was proud of the title Breast Picture when he first thought of it because it perfectly conveyed the entire idea of the film. Some cast and crew suggested other titles, but Jonathan simply smiled at their suggestions because he knew that no other title would ever top Breast Picture. Of course, when Jonathan arrived at the premiere for the film, he realized that people didn't bother to note the title's cleverness as much as its prurience when he saw that the theatre's sign simply read, "Breast Movie."
