Finally, Disney+’s Star Wars: The Bad Batch has its priorities sorted.
The first two seasons’ cameo-heavy Mission of the Week format quickly grew stale, but as creator Dave Filoni, supervising director Brad Rau and head writer Jennifer Corbett disappeared deeper into their Disney-sponsored sandbox, it became clear that this wasn’t merely a graveyard of shameless walk-backs or desperate reinforcements of messy canon. The Bad Batch was always about underdogs, about displaced war heroes struggling to survive in a galaxy that has no need for them.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 15, "The Cavalry Has Arrived."
"The Cavalry Has Arrived" is a fitting title for the end of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch," the animated series that was as much a continuation of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" as it was its own distinct show. Revolving around the genetically altered Clone Force 99, as first introduced in "The Clone Wars," "The Bad Batch" spent three seasons offering us a window into the plight of clones in the days and years following the creation of the Empire and how these particular clones were able to carve their niche in the galaxy. One of the key motivators for this group of former Republic special forces is Omega. She's a special clone and vital to the Emperor's plans to clone himself should something happen to him. Her blood seems to be the only sample...

After a rollercoaster journey of three seasons and 47 episodes, Star Wars: The Bad Batch has finally come to an end. The beloved Clone Force 99 have hung up their helmets in an epic 50-minute finale that rounds off their stories while also setting up the future of the galaxy far, far away. The third and final episodes of Star Wars: The Bad Batch will conclude the series, and as such, fans are eagerly awaiting its release on Disney+. Not too long after the conclusion of the second season, it was confirmed that the animated spin-off Star Wars: The Clone Wars would wind up with season 3.
Because of this, the third season’s plot was immensely considerable, involving The Bad Batch’s characters coping with Tech’s death’s aftermath, Omega’s imprisonment by the Empire, and Crosshair’s eventual redemption.

With the implications of the larger canon, it is hard to see Omega having a happy ending. Fans should be ready for a ‘bittersweet’ conclusion to Omega’s story, as voice actress Michelle Ang recently hinted.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch, debuted with an astonishing new storyline back in 2021. Thanks to the dynamic camaraderie of Clone Force 99, the series is a favorite of many among the plethora of other animated Star Wars series. Based on a squad of genetically enhanced soldiers in a galaxy torn by war and uncertainty, the saga of the Bad Batch is finally coming to an end.

Envisioned as a three-season story, the series’ last season finale is just hours away. The episodes so far have been as incredible as always, and the stakes for Clone Force 99 are as high as ever. With season 3 finale about to be aired, there is a possibility that we might see yet another character meeting their end, similar to Tech’s devastating death in season two of The Bad Batch.

It’s an exciting time for Disney+ subscribers. That’s because Disney’s agreement to stream new episodes of Doctor Who is about to start bearing fruit.
On May 10, Disney+ subscribers in the U.S. will be able to access to the two newest episodes of Who season 14: “Space Babies” and “Devil’s Chord.” Additionally, the 2023 Christmas special “The Church on Ruby Road” will be available to stream then as well.
For more traditional Disney-heads, May 2024 sees one Star Wars season premiere (Tales of the Empire on May 4), one Star Wars season finale (The Bad Batch on May 1), and one Marvel finale (X-Men ’97 on May 15). May 22 also sees the premiere of Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of X-Men ’97, which should be a fascinating look at the recent animated hit.

As the calendar flips from April to May, audiences may feel the affects of last year’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes bite deeply. May is the traditionally the first month for summer blockbusters to start making their way into theaters, and while titles like “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” and “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” will bow in cinemas this month, the release schedule is certainly lacking compared to years past.
The good news is, there are plenty of new streaming titles coming to various platforms this month to help you stay entertained! The Streamable has compiled our list of new titles coming to streaming this week, and we’ll be here each week in May to help you find something awesome to watch every day.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 14, "Flash Strike."
"Flash Strike," the penultimate episode of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch," features a thrilling infiltration of Mt. Tantiss. The Bad Batch finally located the Empire's top-secret facility at the very end of last week's episode, "Into the Breach," and is working to rescue Omega. For her part, Omega is trying to save all of the kids being experimented on by the Imperial scientists. Together, they're opposed by the full force of the Empire's might that Dr. Hemlock can bring to bear.
As Omega roams around Mt. Tantiss, however, she makes a startling discovery, giving her an idea for a plan to help her and the others escape. Elsewhere, the Bad Batch does their best to fight their way into the facility, while the former-Admiral Rampart does his best to sow division amongst the group, hoping...

Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" Season 3 Episode 12 "Juggernaut" follow.
The third and final season of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" moves on, this time bringing us back to the original status quo of the season. In the epic previous episode, Omega sacrificed herself to prevent the utter destruction of their paradise refuge of Pabu, and the Empire takes her right back to Mount Tantiss. Desperate to find Omega and stop the Empire's experiments once and for all, the Bad Batch looks for any lead they can in order to find the location of the secret facility.
That brings them back to Admiral Rampart, who was arrested in earlier seasons as a scapegoat for the genocidal destruction of Kamino. He was sent to an Imperial labor camp, which offers a pretty neat, direct tie to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 10, "Identity Crisis."
After last week's episode of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" saw Asajj Ventress return from the grave, the show took a pivot this week. Instead of visiting Clone Force 99 at all, "Identity Crisis" takes us back to Mount Tantiss and focuses on Emerie Karr.
Karr, who's voiced by "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" alum Keisha Castle-Hughes, is another female clone of Jango Fett, albeit much older than Omega. Introduced in previous seasons of "The Bad Batch," she's thus far been part of the crew on Mount Tantiss working alongside Dr. Hemlock on Operation Necromancer. She was also the one who gave Omega back her makeshift Lula doll at the beginning of season 3, sowing seeds that are paid off in this episode. Wednesdays are still great for fans of animated series on Disney+ this month as the final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch continues, along with season 1 of X-Men ’97. This Star Wars article contains spoilers.
The return of Asajj Ventress in Star Wars: The Bad Batch is an intriguing new mystery for fans, especially those who read of her death in the 2015 novel Dark Disciple by Christie Golden, which is set during the Clone Wars, right before the events of Revenge of the Sith. In that book, she sacrificed herself to save her lover, Jedi Master Quinlan Vos, from Count Dooku’s Force lightning, but just an in-universe year after her death, she’s somehow back and meeting up with Clone Force 99 on The Bad Batch.
So, what’s behind her resurrection? It’s a mystery with no answer from Star Wars. But plenty of theories…
How Is Asajj Ventress Back?
Unsurprisingly, the prevailing theory regarding her return from the grave goes back to a specific moment in Dark Disciple. In the book, she and Vos team up to try and kill Dooku.

Asajj Ventress is dead.
At least, that's what we all assumed right up until the trailer dropped for the final season of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch."
Like many characters on the animated "Clone Wars" TV series, Asajj Ventress -- the wicked Sith assassin turned morally ambiguous bounty hunter -- was a victim of the show's initial cancellation prior to its revival on Disney+. Her plotline was never quite finished, though there were episodes planned to wrap her story up. Those episodes were in pre-production and Lucasfilm even showed some of their unfinished story reels at conventions, but any hope of actually getting to see those episodes quickly fizzled.
Eventually, the scripts for those episodes were handed over to Lucasfilm's book division, and author Christie Golden was given the task of bringing them to life in novel form.
Asajj Ventress is dead.
At least, that's what we all assumed right up until the trailer dropped for the final season of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch."

Clone Trooper Echo may not have been created as a member of Clone Force 99, but that didn’t stop them from accepting him as one of their own after his rescue from the Separatists during the Clone Wars. But with the rise of the Empire and their growing mistreatment of clones, enhanced and otherwise, Echo decided to leave Clone Force 99 in season 2 of The Bad Batch to join Rex’s squad of resistance fighters. Of course, that didn’t stop fans from hoping he would eventually return to this motley found family, especially after the loss of Tech. Unfortunately, the official Star Wars website has finally confirmed that Echo’s leave of absence from the Bad Batch is permanent.
His character description now reads, “Echo, formerly of the 501st and the Bad Batch, has joined his old friend Captain Rex on...

This week's episode of "The Bad Batch" sees Hunter and Wrecker doing a job for no pay for Fennec Shand -- the bounty hunter played by Ming-Na Wen who was first introduced in season 1 of "The Mandalorian." She's holding information they need to understand why the Empire is after Omega hostage in order to compel them to help her with collecting a dangerous bounty. They're reluctant to do it, but they see little other choice. They need to know about M-Counts and why the Empire is so intent on finding Omega.
Fennec Shand is a bit dishonest about it, too. She implies she has the information they need, but when they finish the job, she reveals that she only knows the person who might have the information they need and she'll get them in contact. The...

Star Wars: The Bad Batch's leading heroine may be a kid, but she's also the oldest member of the Clone Force 99 team.
In Lucasfilm Animation's latest Disney+ series, Omega is a female clone of Jango Fett who lived most of her life on Kamino before joining Clone Force 99 in Season 1.
Past seasons and recent Star Wars episodes have alluded to Omega being older than Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, and Crosshair, but the question of just how old she is remains.

This week’s dual episode arc on Star Wars: The Bad Batch not only gave us a closer look at the mysterious clone assassins created by Dr. Hemlock, but also set up the future partnership between Captain Rex and Commander Wolffe we always knew was coming. Though they may initially be on opposite sides in these episodes, fans already know the two are destined to work together to fight the Empire on Star Wars Rebels, which is set a few years after The Bad Batch. But we’ve never actually seen the moment Rex and Wolffe decided to band together before their time on Rebels.
Before the Bad Batch episode “Extraction,” the last time that Wolffe appeared chronologically was in The Clone Wars serving alongside Jedi Master Plo Koon, and obviously a lot has happened since then. We learn in “Extraction...

We got two brand new episodes of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" this week, and they offered us some of the most dire situations Clone Force 99 has been in, forcing us to wonder how many "Batchers" are going to make it through this third and final season. They only get through "Infiltration" and "Extraction" by the skin of their teeth, but it's worth remembering that we haven't seen any hint of them in the future of the "Star Wars" galaxy. That's not to say they can't make it through; Ahsoka Tano and most of the crew from "Star Wars Rebels" certainly proved that a wide array of characters can remain off-screen for important events and have a compelling story to tell once they re-enter the universe. There's every chance the Bad Batch could fall into that category,...

This week brought two brand new episodes of "The Bad Batch," a larger story in the context of the season's overarching narrative. Though the Bad Batch features prominently in these two episodes, dozens of other Clones take center stage as we learn that Captain Rex has been building an entire cadre of Clones to fight the Empire. Rex has even managed to catch one of the mysterious Clone sleeper agents created by the Empire alive. Unable to get any information out of him, however, Rex and his crew have no idea there's a homing beacon inside the Clone, leading the Empire right to them.
Meanwhile, the Bad Batch answers Rex's call, unaware they're being hunted as well. As more and more Clones on both sides of the conflict arrive at Rex's secret hideout,...

Season 3 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch premiered without Tech, a core member of Clone Force 99, leaving audiences to question what happened and if he's truly dead.
True to his name, Tech (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) was the elite squad's computer and weapons specialist known for his practical, analytical approach and dry sense of humor.
While Hunter and Omega were typically at the forefront of the Star Wars Disney+ series, Tech proved to be the hero of Season 2, leaving the squad reeling from his loss.

It seems to be Karate Kid day out there as yet another piece of casting news for the upcoming sequel has been announced. Variety has reported that Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian) has joined the cast of the new Karate Kid movie.
While there are no details on who Ming-Na Wen will play in the Karate Kid movie, the actress is always a welcome addition to any project. The new Karate Kid movie will star Ben Wang (American Born Chinese) as a young teenager from China who finds identity and strength in martial arts. During his journey of self-discovery, Wang’s character meets a disciplined martial arts master. The coming-of-age drama will also find Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio reprising their roles of Mr. Han and Daniel Larusso. Joshua Jackson (Fatal Attraction) is also set to appear in the movie. The squad’s back together in the latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, suitably titled “The Return.” Well, most of Clone Force 99 is back. While Echo is back with the Batch, and Hunter is begrudgingly letting Crosshair back into the fold, they’ve still lost Tech. There are already plenty of theories out there suggesting Tech’s still out there, but for the moment, his apparent death has left a hole in the fabric of the team. At its best, this Star Wars series is about family and this one’s close to complete but not quite, especially as there are quite a few wounds left to heal between Crosshair and the rest of the squad.
Fortunately, “The Return” kicks off the healing process, from Crosshair helping his brothers locate the Empire’s top-secret Tantiss Base to Wrecker handing...

The latest episode of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" gives us our first adventure with the core surviving members of Clone Force 99 and Crosshair. Naturally, there is still a high level of mistrust between them. When they need to decode secret Imperial plans in the hopes of getting more information about the Empire's operation on Mount Tantiss, Crosshair volunteers information about a location he knows of where they might be able to decode it. Though Hunter is loathe to trust their comrade-turned-enemy-turned-comrade, they all decide to head to the abandoned Imperial Depot on the ice planet of Barton IV, which first appeared in "The Bad Batch" season 2, episode 12, "The Outpost" (itself one of the season's best episodes).

The new “(Taylor’s Version)” edit will feature the concert film in its entirety for the first time, plus the song “cardigan” and four additional acoustic songs.
Also premiering this month, “X-Men: The Animated Series” gets a long overdue revival with the new animated series “X-Men '97,” featuring the returns of original cast members Ray Chase, Alison Sealy-Smith, Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, and more. This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 4, "A Different Approach."
The original lineup of the Bad Batch consisted of four core members of "Experimental unit Clone Force 99": Hunter, the leader; Wrecker, the muscle; Tech, the brains; and Crosshair, the sharpshooter. They did several missions together throughout the Clone Wars and were a tight-knit team based on the planet Kamino. That all changed, though, when the newly-declared Emperor issued Order 66. Most folks familiar with "Star Wars" are also familiar with the order Palpatine gave the Clone Army to kill the Jedi. The Bad Batch was on the planet Kaller — as depicted in the first episode of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" — when the order came in, and it caused a rift in the group. Hunter, Tech, and Wrecker seemed virtually unaffected by the inhibitor chips that caused compliance with Order 66 and had no interest in...

The streaming service’s latest addition to its lineup, the sci-fi comedy “The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy,” is the brainchild of Cirocco Dunlap, whose résumé includes Netflix’s “Russian Doll” and “Big Mouth.” The show, which is now streaming, follows the adventures of two alien doctors, Klak and Sleech, as they treat a myriad of strange illnesses and maladies afflicting the brilliant and unique beings that populate the titular galaxy.
While the show’s writers are clearly having fun trying to stretch the limits of the imagination, the series also dedicates a significant amount of its runtime to telling relatable stories about universally understood medical conditions, too, like anxiety. The result is a well-rounded, enjoyable comedy that deserves your attention. When you toss in an impressive voice cast that also includes Kieran Culkin,...

This Star Wars article contains spoilers for The Bad Batch.
The end of The Bad Batch season 2 saw a beloved member of the team sacrifice himself so that the rest of Clone Force 99 could escape the Empire in one piece. Tech seemingly fell to his death on the planet Eriadu during a mission to learn more of the Empire’s Advanced Science Division, and has since been mourned by both his teammates and fans of the show. However, a mysterious new stormtrooper in the season 3 episode “Shadows of Tantiss” has fans wondering whether he might just be Tech back from the dead, now under the influence of the Empire.
According to eagle-eyed fans, this stormtrooper is too reminiscent of Tech to be pure coincidence. From the more slender body shape to the way the stormtrooper crosses their arms to the almost familiar way he hovers near Crosshair, many are convinced...

This article contains spoilers for the first three episodes of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3: "Confined," "Paths Unknown," and "Shadows of Tantiss."
In Billy Wilder's 1960 Best Picture winner "The Apartment," he was able to imbue a simple, cracked compact mirror with so much meaning that merely the sight of it at the right time told a story. I interviewed Rian Johnson once and we talked about how important it is to have symbols help tell the story. "I think the compact is the best example, and yes, that's solid gold whenever you can find that," said Johnson. "Whenever you can have a major emotional impact come from something that seems incidental when you first introduce it, that's the gold in the hills that you're digging for."
It's something that's very much on the mind of every writer, and the writers of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" are no different.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 2, "Paths Unknown."
The three-episode premiere of the third season of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" offers us two episodes focusing on Omega and Crosshair and their travails on Mount Tantiss, but the middle episode gives us a look at what Hunter and Wrecker are doing as they tear the galaxy apart searching for Omega. Naturally, they find themselves on the trail of the Imperial Scientists and make their way to an abandoned facility. It's bombed out and abandoned (much like Kenari was in "Andor"), so the pair hunt for clues about where Dr. Hemlock and his science team went next.
While they're on this mysterious planet, Hunter and Wrecker find a group of clone cadets who had been left behind. The whole situation gives off a bit of a vibe like "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome," although there are...
