It's actually not that bad.
Dottsylove14 June 2021
I see the ratings and I can figure why it would get a low score but really doesn't deserve it. They kept the movie interesting enough to keep my attention until the end. The actors weren't horrible so that's always a plus. There are a few comedic moments throughout -- a couple of which got me smiling. The Story is a possession story so nothing new there. But, they did put a little twist on it which you might find enjoyable. Movie was done all on Zoom, which I personally find interesting -- even before the pandemic. Although at that time the movies used Face-time as their medium. All in all not bad. If you like possession films and "social media" films then give it a go. It will at least keep you busy for a while.

Not the Best
OneKat18 October 2021
With the tag line "You'll die laughing" and the movie labelled as a horror-comedy, you would think that I would have laughed, even once. I mean, maybe that's the point, if you laugh you die? So the movie goes out of its way not to make you laugh? Not sure. If you're thinking maybe it's just me, ask yourself just how funny the title "Untitled Horror Movie" is, and then ask yourself how funny the producers, or whoever, thought the movie title would be.

Essentially, a group of actors find out their tv show is being cancelled. They decide to make a horror movie instead, and read some sort of summoning they found on reddit. Of course, this actually summons a dark spirit which tries to kill them. Or at least freak them out. There is zero clarity on what the spirit really wants, whether the pendant is actually important, why it is attacking them, etc. This movie is just a bunch of scenes thrown together on purpose, by someone who thought that their laziness would be a good idea. Take, for example, how rather than each character getting their own scene in their horror movie, all the actors just perform the same scene. Did anyone think it would not be boring to watch the same scene performed by 5 different actors? The more and more I think about this movie, the more convinced I am that it was trying not to be funny on purpose. Surely.

Anyway, there are two Aussie actors in this movie, which is cool. It would have been nice if they were in a better movie, but whatever. It is what it is.

The title says it all - it doesn't know what it wants to be
deeparbusiness19 June 2021
What a pleasant surprise, but the movie has fundamental issues.

There was no background given whatsoever to the spell. There could have been 20-30 minutes allotted towards the spell's origins in Hollywood (perhaps a death of some other actor?), some other cities in the USA, or the entire world. There was so much room to use the spell for actual comedy instead of mashing comedy and tragedy and making tragedy look like comedy. With that being said, a huge lack of empathy for the unexpected death of Chrissy ruined it for me. I get that this is a horror comedy, but it's also a horror dramedy at the same time. Some of the actors knew Chrissy throughout their entire career. How do they go from showing so much emotion and fear when she was walking around her apartment to "she died due to an accident, let's go meet Bobbie?" - this was NOT funny.

Weak.
misterbricks-211346 February 2022
The story is weak. The split screen movies have done often before and often better. The acting is quit decent. But for a horror comedy it was never scary nor comical.

The making of....
sahlgoode14 June 2021
All the nauseating camera motion of a found footage film in the making of a found footage film. Top that off with a reminder of all the Zoom meetings I've been forced to sit through during a pandemic, and I just couldn't like this film.

The character build up was thin, but that was a godsend because the characters were shallow. I didn't want to know any more about them than what was presented early on.

The concept is something everyone who owns a phone has thought of. It's only the most narcissistic of us that would even try to pull it off. It dates back to 2008 when "SMS Sugar Man" was shot entirely on an iPhone.

I'm sure there's an audience for this film, but I found myself browsing Reddit half way through.

Its like oh my gawd like such a terrible movie

One of these movies of which you hope the characters die sooner so the movie is finished. Pure torture to watch. Terrible (mainly stolen) storyline, worse actors ever, it's junk and you should avoid it.

I liked it!
paradoxkinda16 June 2021
It was fun and there was just something about it that made me want to watch it till the end. I mean this was shot at home so don't bring up expectations that you would have from a movie typically shot on sets. They are just different wavelengths. But, the characters are stupid and i think that is on purpose, I get it. I really liked it especially Claire Holt and Darren Barnet... It had some parts that made me chuckle a little...and the fact it was shot on phone and zoom, well that's just great how it turned out to be...You should give it a try if you are looking for something light, not really serious...

Good Cast. Boring.
Rancid_Planet5 July 2021
This movie was a 1/10 idea with a 10/10 cast who did everything they could to pull it up. Nothing happens followed by no story followed by more nothing. Great cast though.

Don't Mime
nogodnomasters29 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When their show gets cancelled, 6 actors decide to do their own horror film with a partial script. They are encouraged to ad lib their lines and spells and then one of them contacts an evil spirit.

This was a low budget found footage type of film. We get to know the characters very well through their Zoom chats. The plot was simple. The characters and dialogue were enjoyable. I apologize. I liked a found footage film.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Untitled Horror Movie
JoBloTheMovieCritic23 June 2021
8/10 - between all the references that made me chuckle, the cool and fresh premise, and genuinely good acting, I was in a way surprised and very much delighted in this film that highlights some creativity in such a dark and unconventional time for the world.

Honest and decent
shefchenko28 July 2021
I like how they reveal some of the Holywood "secrets", which might be publicly known, but most of us never really thought about them deeply. The casual talking style was nice, as was the sudden mention of botox(which for some reason cracked me up). It all felt more natural than most conversations in movies, and I really appreciate it. They obviously were overreacting at times, but it seemed like they could contain it within reasonable limits. The real quality of the movie isn't the best, the plot is shaky and almost missing, but the acting is more than good. It was spooky, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The little jabs at the whole politicizing of the movie industry were on point, mostly. I can see why a lot of people were upset after watching it. Well, I am not, and it wasn't bad at all.

Warning: Spoilers
Like what the in the world did I watch! I felt like I was watching some really crappy scenes where they are trying to do horror movie. But they keep messing everytime! And then just went to talk about it little more and then do it all over again until they got something but really didn't. So if u all reading this! Sorry if I didn't explain this good cause I sure don't even know how to explain as well! Lmao. So whatever u do! Avoid this movie and people! They did nothing but goof around and stared at the computer screen instead of looking at the camera! So again beware!!!!!!!!!

Get In There And Be A Man! Declan!!!
wandernn1-81-6832745 December 2021
-1 Star... the entire movie is 5 to 6 people talking online / zoom or whatever -1 Star... the movie is too short to have much plot

Lots of stupid people in this one. The blond girl certainly epitomizes dumb blonds. Poor blonds.

And of course they're all content to just stay on a zoom call with each other once bad stuff starts happening. Derr.............

The end....was kinda funny tho, but the movie was pretty bad. 3/10.

Kal Penn is the only good actor. Every person besides him in this movie, is unbelievable and annoying at best. There are many other low budget "zoom" type movies out there, don't waste your time on this one. I.

I started to cry
yikax-314 April 2024
Such a horrible movie in my opinion should not exist, a comic horror movie for no horror and not comic at all, watching this movie is comparable to jumping into a tornado made of mandrill dung while swimming in it hoping to get out, such suffering of the kind should be illegal, the movie offers nothing but nothing is literally cosmic emptiness, the acting is non-existent the film's footage is barely mediocre, such a film makes one cry and not from laughter or fear or whatever the director meant by this garbage he calls a film, truly horrible, and unqualifiable or at least qualifying below 0, but unfortunately I can put one star, I am limited to it.

Surprisingly Enjoyable
kyleallencole910 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not sure if this was suppose to be a satire or not, but I had fun with it.

You can tell this was made on a limited budget during the pandemic because of the effects. I personally like the idea of this movie being filmed like actual Zoom meetings. Definitely appropriate for that time.

I wish they would of told a little backstory more behind the spirit or the evil curse.

Just goes to show you that you shouldn't mess around with incantations or spells you find online.

With limited effects, it would of been a little bit cooler to show the main cast kill themselves in bloody and violent ways when it is their turn to be possessed.

Other then that, I honestly enjoyed this one, good job to the cast and everyone involved!

Surprisingly fun webcam horror comedy - Not groundbreaking but definitely succeeds. Different from "Host" (2020)
PutneyTrope22 April 2022
This is a basic review for a basic film. If you have the patience to watch a talking head horror film...this one is a very good choice.

The actors were good and fairly believable. While I didn't quite die of laughter - there were some really amusing-to-funny bits, snarky lines, and reactions. The characters are supposed to be a little pretentious and over the top. I suspect that you aren't supposed to love any of them. Special effects? Please note this is a webcam movie...the special effects are the bare minimum and not the focus. A viewer should realize this going in. The special effects that were featured were good. It's not high art or remotely groundbreaking...but entertaining enough to recommend to horror fans. It gets compared to "Host" (2020). This film is much lighter and, honestly, more fun. Would be great as the second film of a double feature with Host. The highest praise I can give it is this: I may even watch it again.

Great Fun!
rwakw9 January 2022
I don't usually write reviews but as I'm watching this the second time, I'm entertained all over again. The cast was perfect together. This is a comedy and shouldn't be taken seriously although I adored all of the characters. The one who played Claire - how much "wine" did she drink? I kept chuckling as it completely made sense. The actress who played Chrissie was adorable. I hope the actors had as much fun making this as I had watching it...twice. Thank you!

Really enjoyed this!
eleelessie15 June 2021
This movie is right up my alley genre-wise, and it absolutely did not disappoint! The dialogue is golden and every single actor played their role to perfection! I can't even imagine how much time and effort went into filming this alone during quarantine, and infinite kudos to them and the production crew for putting it all together into something truly entertaining! I was very excited for this movie and it surpassed all of my expectations!

Pretty good especially under the circumstances
ageminismusings16 June 2021
I really only watched it because of Kat and Claire, but I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed it. Is it a little cliche? Yes. But it was still really fun to watch and had its funny moments. I almost didn't want to rent it because of so many bad reviews, but it really wasn't as bad as some of the reviews were saying. It's all shot by each actor in their own homes, so the camera work's not the best. But it also didn't make me dizzy. Keep in mind that this was filmed at the height of the pandemic last year. They did what they could. If you're looking for something spectacular with big budget cinematography, this is not your movie. But this was a fun, relatively short, movie to kill some time with.

An Under Appreciated Creative & Innovative Indie Gem
isantistao18 October 2021
I can't believe this is getting so many bad reviews. Some of which are exaggerated. One of them says there is nauseating camera motion of the found footage...and yet in 90% of the shots of this movie the camera is completely still, so I'm not sure where this hate is coming from. Though I have noticed that films that are shot and done differently than most often get bad reviews for one reason or another, simply because people do not like things that are different.

But in my professional opinion as a videographer I consider this film to be quite an artistic gem. I certainly appreciate it more than most because I have some experience with film making, so I can see the value of the creativity and innovation that went into making this film. And I think it is sad that so many other people cannot.

Artistically speaking I see nothing wrong with this film. In fact it has a lot more artistic integrity than most big productions. And again, a lot of people do not like budget films that are all about the art and not about the flashy big production value. So if you are one of those people who only likes those kinds of movies then don't watch indie films like this. But if you actually appreciate the art of film making then you should give this a watch.

This movie is unique and innovative in a couple of ways. First of all it is a movie about making a movie. Kind of like a documentary or mocumentary. However it is not, it is actually more like a found footage film, though it is not that either. It is a movie made up of both footage that is being made for the movie, but even more than that of the actors on camera talking to each other and doing things between filming. To portray this the film makers give the appearance of all the footage being recorded on phone cameras and web cams that the actors are recording themselves. However this it is only the appearance of that, as the film is of course shot on real cameras.

And of course while making a horror movie, they get caught in one themselves when they unleash a supernatural force that begins attacking them. This film is not primarily scary though, it is primarily a comedy. So it not only combines the mockumentary/found footage, but horror and comedy, which is always a real treat. Like most horror comedies this film is more funny than scary of course, so watch it if you want more of a comedy than a horror movie, if you are looking to be scared you probably won't be, but you certainly will laugh. I got quite a few laughs out of this film, which is very clever.

The writing and the acting are all very well done. I found myself remarking on how good they were a few times during the film. The dialogue is all so good, and the actors are as well. I had a lot of fun watching this film, it was so great to see something so different and creative. I give it a perfect ten.

Meta!
xalrap-8006824 June 2021
Meta: they say it multiple times in the movie. The low score must be from tightly puckered horror fans angry that it got tagged as a "horror" and not a "comedy-horror." It is not a horror.... it is a comedy with a few horror elements (most of which are, appropriately not scary at all). I especially loved the irony of the clearly intentional dialogue juxtaposed against the characters' complete obliviousness. Very self aware, great horror "stereotype" characters, fun over the top winks at found footage films ("Can you stop shaking the camera, please? You're making me nauseous!"), and the "clever and original" writing is more cliche than the initial drivel the actors didn't want to film in the first place. Kudos to this Covid film! I belly laughed multiple times.... a very fun accidental find on a Wednesday afternoon :)

A special situation professionally handled
lesob1 July 2021
This movie is a great creation for the time it was created in. I love the concept and execution, by a lot of actors I know and love from different other projects. It's witty, hilarious, ridiculous at times, creepy and interesting. I admire and give all the actors a lot of props for doing all the additional stuff, that they are usually not in charge of themselves. It's a nice movie, to support these actors and be entertained by a group that seems like real great friends - even though some of them had never even met in real life.
