One of the contestants was 4-year-old Carolyn Binkley of Nashville, Tennessee. Carolyn's secret was that she had a recording contract with Columbia Records and had recorded a holiday novelty song, ''I Want a Baby Brother for Christmas.'' Carolyn was unable to perform her own song on show due to a New York law that prohibited television performances by children under age seven. A portion of her record was played instead.
