Jackie Jormp-Jomp was another hilarious episode of "30 Rock"
tavm10 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
With Liz off work for the next two weeks because of what she did the previous episode, the "TGS" staff have a sexual harassment manual given to each of them. Kenneth reads it and finds out any interoffice relationships have to be reported to the superior. So he tells Jack about Daphne, one of the show's dancers, that he has a crush on but hasn't even talked to yet. He then finds out Dot Com is dating her so Tracy decides to fire her which has the other dancers going on strike. Back to Liz, she now has time to talk to various door greeters and meets a woman, a retiree, who offers her to join her social group which has cocktails and other relaxing activities. Oh, and to get publicity for her Jackie Jormp-Jomp flick, Jenna-after seeing her picture accidentally in the "In Memoriam" segment of the "Kids Show Awards"-lets Jack fake her death. I'll stop there and say the the funniest part of this episode was the revelation of what Liz' group actually turns out to be. Also funny was the revelation of how that sexual harassment counselor's last name was pronounced. "I'm back, Nerds!" Liz says triumphantly at the end. On to the next episode...

30 Rock Meets Fight Club!
g-bodyl10 December 2014
This is the eighteenth episode of the third season of 30 Rock and it was yet another delightful episode. For once, we get to see how Liz can be while out of work and the cultural references are fun. The main spoof of this episode was 1999's Fight Club, with was a surprising spoof but nonetheless a delightful one.

In this episode, "Jackie Jormp-Jomp," Jack finds out that Jenna's Janis Joplin movie is in serious trouble and in order to find publicity for the film, Jack decides to make an obituary for Jenna. Meanwhile, Liz is struggling with boredom while on leave for sexual harassment. She makes some new friends and decides that life without work is better than she thought.

Overall, this is a good, funny episode. It's a slight increase from the previous episode. I really liked the subplot where Jack tries to make everyone believe that Jenna is dead. The episode features a great screenplay and some effective jokes. I rate this episode 9/10.

Jackie Jormp-Jomp (#3.18)

Warning: Spoilers
When being on the leave from work because of her sexual harassment Liz meets some women who seem to really enjoy their free time and wants to be part of their group. Kenneth has problems with Dot Com because of a girl. And Jenna is accidentally pronounced dead which Jack uses to market her movie.

This is a very refreshing and great episode. The twist with the ladies who hang out drinking wine was totally unexpected. A fight club, really would have never guessed that! Liz sexually harassing the guy to get a longer absence was also very funny.

Also liked the idea about the false message of Jenna's death.

they hit a lick

From the very first joke (it's pronounced "weiner-slave"), jackie jormp-jomp emerges as one of the strongest episodes in one of, if not the best, seasons of a great, great show.

It is wall to wall zingers, one-liners, call backs, running gags, and story development.

Jenna's dies. Liz's adventures in sex trafficking get vibe checked. And tracy learns what it means to be a father.

Everything that the writers were working towards pays off in this episode. Its ridiculousness reaches a fever pitch when tracy fires Daphne and replaces the TGS dancers with a group he found fighting in a parking lot. It's asinine but within the confines of the show, it works which paves the way for the "punch"line of the episode.

Things return to normal ONLY because the story reached a natural conclusion. Jenna's character couldnt stand for her "actual" age to be known, lemon "knew" she belonged at TGS, and.we learn that working class immigrants are not always amused by our american antics.

This episode stands out as a culmination of storylines that pave the way for the jessup saga while not losing momentum through the plateau. In a season with "kidney now", "gavin volure", "generalissimo", "apollo apollo", and "larry king", jackie jormp-jomp shows of the strength of its everyday players doing what they do best (brief shoutout to rusty the bear from the magicals tho)

Parts greater than the sum
safenoe24 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had lots of powerful themes (Fight Club, sexual harassment, fake deaths), but somehow the sum of which didn't quite add up I'm sorry to say for a big 30 Rock fan like me. Still, any 30 Rock is better than none.

It's easy to forget that 30 Rock and Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset debut both debuted on NBC at the same time. The conventional wisdom was that Sorkin's powerhouse TV series would be the one to survive after one season. Not to be, and the rest is history.
