Having over the years watched American Housewife for Julia Butters and her character Anna-Kat I wasn't surprised to hear that she had left the show to pursue other opportunities as her PR stated so it was undertandabl;e that she would be re-cast and I also understand why Giselle Eisenberg was cast having seen her in Life In Pieces.However that character worked in the dynamic of that show with everyone whereas Anna Kat seems to be the one in the family with a common sense with a hyper mother a sedate father a sister with her mind obviously somewhere else and a brother obsessed with money.Whereas Sophia was a bit more energetic Anna Kat was more low key.I'm not quite sure Giselle Eisenberg pulls that off and actually maybe a little bit old for the role but I will watch a few more episodes to give it a chance.I just hope Julia Butters managers and agents didn't do damage to her career by taking her out of the thing that brought her these new opportunities.

It's not that the new Anna Kat is a bad actress. But the first girl defined the role in a way that can't be replaced by another actress.
I tried watching the show but it was hard. My family kept chanting how they don't want to watch anymore because of the swap. As for myself, I couldn't stop but blank in the new replacement and imagine how the original actress would do it. She was a favorite character that no longer has that funny attitude that defined the role

I understand why everyone's upset, but after only one episode it's more than a little unfair to say she ruins the show. Besides, she's a 12-year-old kid, give her a break! There are so many other problems with the show, such as continually weaker writing; if it fails it won't be the new girl's fault.

Almost every time an actor is replaced by another it creates a big problem for the audience. The bigger the role, the bigger the problem. It's understandable because the more we watch the more invested we are. We all loved the old Anna Kat so it doesn't matter how good or cute the new Anna Kat is, it's going to be a hard adjustment. Truth of the matter is that the new Anna Kat is fine. The actress is doing a good job! It's not her fault, she just can't fill in the hole the old Anna Kat created when she left the show. Unfortunately for the writers there was no other way to go about it but to replace the actress. It's impossible to kill off the character or send her away (like they did with Angela) so this is the only solution. I kept on watching season five and I think she did a good enough job.
Unfortunately this is the last season so if you are binge watching the show (like I just did) you can keep on watching it to the end. Just be aware that season five isn't as good as the previous seasons. Old Anna Kat is gone, Angela is gone, Doris is mostly gone, the writing isn't as good as before and the show ends abruptly on the 13th episode. On the plus side, we see a lot more of Cooper (I love him), there are still enough laughs to enjoy and some new characters to like. If you loved the show and watched to this point then I suggest you finish the season.

I was so disappointed to see there is a new Anna-Kat. She honestly is one of the main reasons I have continued to watched the show. She just had this way to pull of her character with a twist, a character that she molded and perfected. The new Anna-Kat seems like a great actress, she just isn't Anna-Kat. It's just one of those roles that you just can't replace. At least for me that is how I feel but I continue to watch and hopefully fall in love with our new Anna-Kat.

I was obsessed with this show until they changed Ana Kat and now it just annoys me that they didn't even attempt to get a kid that looks like her. In addition, this new girls acting doesn't even compare to the original as an actress. Bad replacement guys, you should keep looking.

I love this show, but she just does not work well. I agree with another reviewer, should have just Judith Winslow's her. Or wrote it so that the actress could Pursue other work while filming one episode a year having her win a scholarship to some school. If this becomes the mail in the coffin it would be very upsetting.
The new Anna-Kat doesn't work.

While I understand Julia Butters supposed decision to seek out other opportunities, I feel it would have been best to just remove her character entirely from the show. Giselle Eisenberg gives it her best but she is just not Anna-Kat. Completely changes the dynamic of the show for the worse which is a real shame. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up sealing the fate of the show this season. Extremely disappointed.

Sooooooo this is my favourite show, especially when looking for a pick me up. I'm watching all the way from South Africa and it reminds me of my own relationship I had with my mom.
It's such a fun, honest show that has you laughing all the time.
The new Anna Kat just doesn't work, she tries to hard ( actually annoying ). I loved the show with Julia butters, she had a natural flair and everything came naturally and effortlessly. Giselle looks totally different from the original. I love the show and actually skip the scenes now if Anna Kat as it's not the same at all.
Please do better casting.
