Revealing that Riley was planted by Jesse to befriend John was sort of anti-climax and undermined the character of John. How come no girl is so many schools and so many neighborhood is at all interested in John, he seems to be perfect single, cute American teen. But, first Cameron and now Riley are the only one taking interest in John for their hidden agenda.
By revealing Riley's connection to future resistance, Sarah and Cameron and Derek's concern got vindicated about John should not trust strangers so quickly and should not have taken her to home on the first day of their meet. This shown John as impulsive, attention seeker, sex starved person that doesn't appear fit to lead the future resistance.
