The gas station Charlie stops at is within a few miles of the gas station from the The Terminator (1984) where Sarah fills up and has her picture taken. It is even closer to the gas station in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) where Sarah, John and the T101 hide for the night and remove bullets from the T101. It is even closer the gas station in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) where John and the T101 fill up and open the rear of Kate's truck to check on Kate. All of these gas stations are real gas stations except for the one Charlie stopped at; that one is a studio lot in the area.
The fruit stand that Charley Dixon visits is next to the Church used in the wedding of the film Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
The TV announcer says "Beast Wizard 7 The low budget film nobody saw When it was released direct to video two years ago...". There is no single hit on google for "Beast Wizard 7", so it seems, such a movie was never made or at least released.
At the magazine stand where John Connor and Riley are looking at magazines, there's a fake magazine with Brian Austin Green's (Derek Reese) photo on the cover of it.
