The German TV version of this movie has a running time of 158 minutes. Added scenes include:
- a completely different opening scene, in which Sabine's father Klaus travels through West Papua on his own (i.e. without his family) and has an almost deadly encounter when he meets the Fayu people for the very first time;
- Klaus and his expedition companion have been captured by Fayu hunters, who go through his stuff, and Klaus shows them how his tape recorder works.
The opening scene of the regular version (showing adolescent Sabine in the snow) has been moved towards the ending in the TV version.
Another difference is that the regular version is divided into chapters, which are each introduced by a title card, whereas the TV version doesn't have chapters.
