The Definition of a Paradox!
g-bodyl20 October 2014
This is the fifth episode of the third season of Dexter and once again, it's another fine episode. This episode clearly defines the nature of a paradox and coming from Dexter's mouth himself, it's about creating and taking life. This episode further explains the conflict between Dexter's family life and his "dark passenger" life. Also, this episode has us wondering if anyone else knows about Dexter's dark secrets.

In this episode, "Turning Biminese," Dexter and Rita argue about finding a house and moving in with each other which Dexter clearly doesn't want. While on a golfing trip, Miguel tells Dexter about this killer who keeps on getting off and Dexter decides to make him his next victim. But while away, Rita has an emergency health problem and Dexter is nowhere to be found. Also, Debra seems to be getting a bit fond of her informant.

Overall, this is a great episode and it explores the relationship between Dexter and Rita even more. I think we must ask ourselves whether it's even logistically possible for the two to get married. I guess we will find out soon enough. I rate this episode 9/10.

Masuka: Not one person read my paper. Not one f***ing person showed up at the conference I spoke at.
antisocial131 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Through Miguel, Dexter learns of a wife-killer who has gone free - the perfect person for his next kill.

Masuka changes his ways, because he feels that no-one is his friend and lets Angel and Deb know about it. They later back him up and cheer him back to him old self.

Miguel works out that Dex went to kill the bloke he had mentioned to him instead of going fishing. That's also why he was unreachable during Rita's hospital emergency. Miguel tells Dex he is proud and very pleased that he killed Turner. He tells Dexter that he understands him, and has nothing to worry about. That he is on his side and that he respects him.

Paradox Personified – Taking and Creating Life
claudio_carvalho19 January 2011
Dexter and Miguel go to a golf club and the ADA tells Dexter that his hands are tied by the law in a case of Ethan Turner, a killer that has murdered his wife to get her money and disposed her body in international waters while sailing. The criminal has escaped from justice for lack of evidence. Dexter concludes that Ethan meets his code and targets him as his next victim. Meanwhile, Rita and Syl begin a house hunting and Dexter argues with Rita. Debra is investigating the disappearance of Freebo with the confidential informant Anton and they meet the junky Tilly that tells about the boy Wendell, Freebo's watchman that saw Dexter. Ramon becomes the liaison between his department and Miami Metro in the investigation of a murder case and Masuka wins the respect of his team with his observations about the crime. Dexter tells that will go fishing in Mercy Reef but heads to Bimini in a Caribbean cruise instead hunting down Ethan Turner. When Rita has a medical emergency, Miguel can not reach him and sends the US Coast Guard to seek him out in Mercy Reef. When Miguel is informed that Ethan Turner, he connects the dots and concludes that Dexter is a vigilante.

"Turning Biminese" is another great episode of Dexter, where he concludes that he is a paradox personified, taking and creating life. Masuka's feelings are hurt with his colleagues in the Miami Metro, but he wins respect with his efficient expertise and attitude against the arrogant Ramon. Debra seems to have a crush on Anton and the needy Miguel has a weird encounter with the undercover detective. But the best part of the show is the conclusion of Miguel about Dexter's double life. My vote is nine.

Friends and Family ***mild spoilers for unfamiliar viewers***
itssosublime27 October 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Episode five of Dexter's third magnificent campaign was possibly the most important of the entire series. There isn't an overwhelming amount of suspense, nor is it particularly graphic, but this episode does tell you more about many of the characters, Dexter included, than you have ever seen from an emotional and human standpoint. Early on, Dexter is shown as a man who is clearly still reeling from the notions of fatherhood, friendship and marriage. Rita is introducing the idea of shopping for a home, the kid whom Dexter encountered when looking for Freebo is brought to the station for questioning and Miguel is making every effort to get closer to his new friend and confidant. Dex is feeling squeezed, but this time, rather than panicking and pushing away from these emotions, he takes a different route and confronts these issues, with just a little bit of help from Harry.

After the first four episodes of this season, I was beginning to wonder when the "breakthrough", so to speak, would finally come. Well, my question was certainly answered here. It appears that our protagonist may finally be ready to take some giant strides from the confines of his dark shell. After season one I couldn't have imagined a Dexter who would one day marry, have children and find true camaraderie. He may not be there quite yet, but our favorite TV vigilante definitely seems determined to change....to a certain extent of course.

Who knew "Dexter" could actually be inspiring? I'm continually amazed by it's brilliance. Enjoy!

Warning: Spoilers
1. Dex doesn't want to move in 2. Masuka's feelings are hurt 3. Dex misses ritas emergency 4. Miguel knows Dexter now

It sounds fitting the ADA might appreciate Dexter's deeds - people who see injustice every day and are hungry for a better outcome. I expected him to find out Dexter's identity but I'm not sure if he's going to remain an ally forever.

Deciding to stick with Rita and their baby is a major decision for Dex as it symbolizes him breaking off from the father-son chain and building his own (I somehow expect their kid to be a son). This episode was really good in pushing the characters forward. Love it!

Compromise?
jason-leonidas198410 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was yet another great episode, well done. This is more of a philosophical review. Being an independent guy, the thought of Dexter giving up his apartment to live the family life really saddened me. The man has an apartment on the water, an awesome boat, a great job and a full time hobby that makes the time fly by!! Giving all that up to be a family man sounds like a mistake. "Let's compromise, " says all women ever, "Do it my way." This is the way women control men, it's not very hard to do. Between Deb and Rita, the man has no hope to continue living the MGTOW lifestyle. Ironically, I'd bet if he actually just stuck to what he wanted and not got pulled and tugged in directions he didn't see fit, that half the good characters in the show wouldn't have died. But, it is a show and comparing it to real life is silly, I just wanted to point out how women should learn how to actually compromise.

I just wanted to say something that bothered me
bosimmons-703761 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm rewatching dexter like I do every year and dexter is a great serial killer always a step ahead to not get caught and was taught to never get caught. Well when Migal asks him one time where he was he quickly tells him what he is without hesitation. He has done everything to not get caught but instead of simply just saying he went somewhere else instead of mercy reef like "I was going to go there but changed my mind" he was like yup you got me. Kinda bothered me. I still love this episode because of the cruise ship aspect but him just spilling his guts to migal basically is weird.

Prado Knows! [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 3 Episode 5 ''Turning Biminese'' (S3. E5): Episode 4 was great and I gave it a rating of 8.7/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Im happy Anton is in more episodes because I always like David Ramsey's acting. Seems like Dex found his new victim, good cause I wanna watch some sweet Dex action. I get why Masuka is upset and it makes sense to me. I hope that Angel will get the girl eventually. I love the scenes with Harry, I wish we had more of them. Wow, is Rita about to lose the baby? Watching Dexter ending a life again was satisfying. It sucks that Dex wasnt there for Rita, she could have lost the baby. Wow, Prado knows that Dex is lying, he was on that cruise ship and Prado knows and he likes it. Could Prado be a real friend to Dex? We'll have to wait to know for sure. Amazing episode overall, my rating is 9/10.

What deb said
yunyy9 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Rewatching it. What Deb said in the hospital hugging Dexter is so sad. Dexter answered it's never gonna happen. But at this point in new dexter world, it really happened. He was absent from Harrison's life.
