The Man Who Does not Meet the Code
claudio_carvalho5 January 2011
While in the supermarket, Dexter observes a weird stranger talking to Astor and he writes the number of the car plate in a piece of paper and identifies him as the child molester Nathan Marthen that has been recently released from prison. Vince Masuka is happy with his article published by the Forensics Quaterly. Miguel Prado tries to stop the investigation about Freebo and approaches to Dexter as an unwanted friend. When another victim apparently from Freebo is found by the police, only Dexter and Miguel know that Freebo could not have killed the man. Miguel questions Dexter whether Freebo is really dead and Dexter tells that he disposed the body in an unburied grave in the cemetery. Then Dexter redirects the investigation of the Miami Metro detectives to Teegan. When Dexter sees Nathan taking pictures of Cody on the beach, he decides to violate Harry's code to protect Astor.

In this episode, Dexter questions whether the Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado does really want his unwanted friendship. Further, despite the child molester does not meet the Code of Harry, Dexter becomes very protective with his children and visits the predator. The snoopy but efficient Debra arrests Quinn's confidential informant and has a friction with the detective. She also becomes very happy when she learns that Rita is pregnant. My vote is eight.

The Lion Awakes!
g-bodyl17 October 2014
This is the third episode of the third season of Dexter and it's a really good episode and is often interesting to watch. There isn't a whole lot of action, but the drama is worth the time to watch. I find it very interesting of Dexter imagining his life as a father. Like him, I just can't see it happening.

In this episode, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," after a another murder appears, the DA Miguel begins to suspect that Dexter did not kill Freebo after all and it becomes annoying to Dexter as Miguel tries to press his friendship. Meanwhile, Debra arrests her informant and Rita is trying to get Dexter to support her pregnancy. Also, a weird man in a grocery store begins to keep an eye on Astor which irks Dexter.

Overall, this is another great episode of Dexter and there is some excellent character development especially as we see how Dexter is going to deal with life as a father. I guess that only time will tell. I rate this episode 9/10.

Dexter: (In his head) I could probably kill her before anyone realized what happened.
antisocial125 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Deb: What do you think Dex? Dex: They all sound like good theories to me. Deb: Way to commit Dex. ;) Like he's committing to the baby.

Love the discussion between Deb, Quinn and Angel about Anton being locked up, Quinn starts off annoyed, but is satisfied with the reasoning.

Masuka: This is a deliberate insult against me and my people. Quinn: C'mon, c'mon... Masuka: Asswipe. Quinn: Who the f*** are his people? Angel: I don't know. Little scientists, I guess.

Very good ending scene, Dex lets Rita know he wants to be there for the baby by putting his hands on her stomach sending his good intentions to the baby.

Really Good [8.6/10]

My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 3 Episode 3 ''The Lion Sleeps Tonight'' (S3. E3): Episode 2 was awesome and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. It seems like Prado wants Dex to be his friend but it seems like Dex doesn't like the idea. So there is something going on with Dex's brain and that's why he is a killer? Prado thinks that Dex is a good and honest man, if he only knew... Im so glad that the se-x offender will get what he deserves, taking pictures of kids, so disgusting. Well done Dex. Lol Dex took his life and also took his milk, that's funny. Dex is going to be such a cool dad. Overall a great episode, my rating is 8.6/10.

Jennifer Carpenter

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I had never seen Dexter before so I started watching it recently. It's a little cringey to watch but overall I think it's good. The only real challenge I'm having with it is the role of Jennifer Carpenter as Deb. I don't know if it's her acting or the character but I find her to be really annoying and one dimensional. I'm not saying that all one dimensional characters are not worth watching, but for some reason, I'm just not jiving with her character. I'm currently on season three and so far this is the worst I've seen of her character. Since she's not able to pull off what I see as a one dimensional character, I hope that her character develops more over the later seasons.
