Dawn Wells, who starred as “good girl” Mary Ann in popular 1960s sitcom “Gilligan’s Island,” died Wednesday of causes related to Covid-19 in Los Angeles. She was 82.
Pig-tailed and attired in her ubiquitous dungarees or gingham dress, which is on display at the Hollywood Museum, the Mary Ann character was the girl-next-door to Tina Louise’s suggestive evening dress-clad Ginger, who was often subjected to leering comments from the male stars they were shipwrecked with on a tropical island after becoming stranded during a “three-hour tour.”
Louise, the last remaining member of the crew, said in a statement, “I was sad to learn of Dawn’s passing, I will always remember her kindness to me. We shared in creating a cultural landmark that has continued to bring comfort and smiles to people during this difficult time. I hope that people will remember her the way that I do – always with a smile on her face.

Jason Mewes has been on the scene for a long time. It's hard to believe it was nearly 20 years ago that we first got a look at Jay and Silent Bob in the classic comedy Clerks. Dread Central recently had the chance to talk with this veteran actor about his new horror/comedy Silent But Deadly.
Mewes started by giving us a brief overview on the film. "It's about a dude who was misunderstood because he's not the smartest guy around and he sort of just loses his cool," Mewes said. "Also he loses his best friend. I won't give that away right now, but he loses his best friend, his only friend, and he loses it upon losing his friend and being mistreated and goes on a sort of killing spree. I know that doesn't make it unique, but…I never want to give away too much…when he's going around killing,...

Fango got the scoop from director Sean Cain that Jason Mewes has joined the cast of his latest feature, Breath Of Hate (which we last reported on here). “His character is a gamer nerd who falls for a escort,” Cain says; that escort is the film’s heroine, who is terrorized by three homicidal asylum escapees on her last job.
“It’s through his love that he brings her back from being a walking suicide,” Cain continues. “Audiences know Jason as the foul-mouthed Jay in the Kevin Smith movies, but he’s got a sweet side that’s the perfect counterpoint to the darkness in our story.” Mewes’ Jay also made an appearance in Scream 3, and the actor’s genre credits additionally include R.S.V.P., Feast, The Tripper, Netherbeast Incorporated, Bitten and the upcoming Silent But Deadly. Breath Of Hate, scripted by Wes Laurie and produced by him and Cain,...
