Definitely Cheap, Not Sure About Charming

Warning: Spoilers
Sunday School came on the Pluto TV app I have for my FireStick and man, you can tell the movie only used a few thousand dollars as its budget. The movie is obviously a rip-off of the cliche Tyler Perry-esque plot: *Spoilers* A club-hopping woman is persuaded into attending Sunday school with her grandmother. She meets up with an old friend, yada-yada, and is introduced to the friend's fiance's brother named David. David is a church boy, pastor's son-type character and falls in love with Rachel (our club-hopper). The ex and fellow church members criticize David and Rachel is torn between wanting to be a Hollywood starlet and a pastor's wife. The movie is not terrible (the guy below talking about suicide and all that.. it is NOT that bad. Come on now, dramaqueen). However, it is very cringy and painful to watch at certain times and the acting is downright awful for the most part. But honestly, this is one of those movies that one does not expect to be "good". It is basic, cheap, silly, and reminds me of a film project in high school or college.

going to actual Sunday school would have been more entertaining

I really can't figure out what drove me to watch this horrid movie. Perhaps I was bored, perhaps I needed to kill an hour and a half, perhaps I actually thought it'd be a decent film, either way, it was wrong to go see this poop in film's clothing. Sunday School is kind of like getting in a plane crash or getting hit by a semi-truck, only more painful and you don't have a cool story to tell at the end. My hate for all things religion didn't even get the chance to affect my judgment on this one, the movie sucked so bad that I was too busy redying my noose to whine about the overtly Christian theme of the "movie", for lack of a better word. The only people I can imagine enjoying this movie is POSSIBLY Christians and even then it's iffy, perhaps the Jesus loving message will be enough for some to enjoy the movie but for the sane people out there, stay away from this movie, it WILL make you dumber and you WILL contemplate suicide before the end credits. I give this film a 1/10 only because 0 or negative numbers aren't an option, do not watch this movie unless somebody is holding a gun to your head demanding it, and even then consider your other options first. This movie should be used as torture, it's that bad. Do not watch this film, it's the worst film ever made.

Sunday School Attendee.

Warning: Spoilers
On the contrary to Mattmckoble, I think this movie was really good. It made me laugh a lot and I thought for a 10,000 budget in 2008 it looks fairly decent. The sound wasn't the best but again it's a 10,000 movie in 2008. I thought the acting was fairly good too. I mean you had some over the top moments but I feel it was done on purpose for laughs. I think it would have been more realistic if Rachel would have gotten raped...more dramatic but it seems most Christian movies can't go into issue that raw and deep. Which is why I am getting into Christian film myself so we can deal with the real issues (believe it or not, Christians have to go thru a lot of heart- wrenching, life-threatening things in life and need movies that will address these issues in a biblical way). Sunday School seemed very Tyler Perry-ish but I actually enjoyed this movie more than the last Madea movie I saw. Overall liked it and would like to see more like it.

Sunday School is charming

Sunday School was a refreshing break from the horror films that are hoping to become the next Saw. This film does have a message you might agree with or might not. Looking beyond the religious make up of the story is a touching tale of love. Overall the production quality is lacking. It falls below what one expect even from a low budget offering.

The story itself was interesting. A young woman who wants to pursue a Hollywood life while finding love and religion. Jerome Hawkins is the main highlight in the film. His charisma comes clearly across.

No pun intended. This is a good rent for a lazy Sunday afternoon with family.
