Writer and Director Justin Smother's short film THE GREY TOWN presents a modern day re-telling of true events in which Smother's grandparents drove through a "sunset town" after dark and were held hostage by local police. However, Smother's alternative version of his family's history brings this story to present day as a young black couple travel through one of these towns after dark and become police hostages themselves. With an outstanding performance from Christian Campbell as Willy Smith, the young couple manage to adjust history in a way that is both surprising and satisfying. For Smother's, THE GREY TOWN stands as artistic revenge for his grandparents but, most importantly, this film also stands as a reminder that these towns have no place in our world and racial injustice like this will no longer be tolerated. A MUST WATCH for all!
