it's okay
elliottcorum14 August 2009
This movie is okay. It's not a gore fest, and it's not a heart-pounding thriller. However, it has some blood and violence in the end. It's kind of slow moving, though, and the ending, while climatic, doesn't keep the viewer on the edge of his/her seat. But, the ending does have an interesting twist.

The two lead actresses are okay. I give them a six out of ten for acting skills, but they get a ten out of ten for being gorgeous, which is pretty much mandatory in a horror movie. Both characters build a decent story for themselves which certainly helps the movie progress. Supporting actors don't provide much for story development, with the exception of the youngest brother. His acting/character is actually the best of all of them, in my opinion.

Camera work, lighting and sound are all okay, except for a couple parts in the slaughterhouse, when the lighting could've been a little better. Scenery doesn't offer much to look at, but there aren't any wide shots of the land, either. All of the shots are done on the farm property, in the city or in a building somewhere. There are some errors in continuity, but they aren't bad enough to interrupt the story development.

All in all, it's not a waste of time to watch this movie, but it won't be the best one you've ever seen.

Is this what AfterDark Horror Fest 3 really has to offer??
p1u923 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Let me first start off by saying this is my first review of a movie ever posted on IMDb. I have been reading comments from movies off IMDb for years. But since I am a big fan of good horror films. I wanted to advise many people to stay away from this garbage! This is the second film I have watched in the After dark horror fest 3 series. The first one being "Autopsy" Which is much better done than this. I mean is this really what The After Dark horror fest has to offer? This movie was a complete waste of time. It's about a girl "Faith" who moves away from where she is currently living to get away from what it seems like her abusive boyfriend. She moves to a place on her family farm and meets a troubled girl named "Lola" at the bar. The movie drags and the story is just really not well written. When the director actually starts revealing more of the background of the farm and "Lola" you really just don't even care. There is no killing, no gore really at all. There is one scene where a guy is walking with his arm in his hand that was cut off. Woo Ho!! Yea right!! Then you actually think Faith's boyfriend is going to actually find her and save the day! But still no! I thought if that would have happened it would have at least been near "okay"....But I was wrong the movie keeps going and you come to find out that Lola's father is a really (sic) individual that kinda made "Lola" the killer she is. But all in all the ending is crap and I would totally pass on this one. If this is what The After Dark horror films have to offer then I'll Pass....

Slaughter
Scarecrow-886 August 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Stewart Hopewell's SLAUGHTER is one of those "the dark side of rural America" kind of flicks where the sins of the father create a monster. This has one of those kind of heroines who makes so many questionable decisions you want to wring her neck yourself. It concerns a troubled young woman, Faith(Amy Shiels), escaping the abusive boyfriend, befriending a nymphomaniac, Lola(Lucy Holt), whose father is a creepy pig farmer who operates a slaughterhouse. Faith decides to stay with Lola, helping with chores in exchange for rent, soon uncovering disturbing truths regarding the family, concerning molestation and the mysterious absence of the mother. Lola brings home men she meets in the nearby city, and Faith discovers that these random guys come up missing, certain valuables of theirs remaining. Pursuing what happens to them unveils a startling reality regarding Lola with Faith's very life in danger. The part regarding Faith's lowlife boyfriend isn't left dangling, and this will rear it's ugly head late into the film. There's this idea of "starting a new life" which symbolizes just why Lola forges a friendship with Faith to begin with. The aspect of the "inability to escape the past" which follows you unless everything is "wiped clean" also becomes an important part of Lola's "quest" to rid herself of the trauma that torments her. The disturbing subject matter is handled in an non-exploitive way, the film instead focusing on Lola's violent outburst serving as the outlet for her rage. Not as violent as it could've been, director Hopewell uses tricks with sound effects(..such as the teeth pulling scenes)and moves his camera away as characters are blown away by shot gun blasts. Faith is portrayed as such a weak character you have an awfully difficult time giving her sympathy.

Yep, it's a stinker.
bexandbarn13 April 2009
Make no mistake, this one is an absolute horror of a movie. And not even in a good way. I'm quite a fan of low budget horror flicks because if they are really bad I can get some kind of perverse enjoyment at picking them apart. But there wasn't even anything to find funny in this.

Firstly, the acting wasn't very good, but not laughably awful. Of course, even good actors would have struggled with such a witless and contrived script. The pace of this film was also all wrong. It took so long for anything slightly interesting to happen. And when it did happen (yes it was only slightly interesting) the film descended into a farce.

Perhaps the makers of this thought they were going for a crazy 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' family thing. But the lead protagonist's attempt at acting crazy was woefully under par. Lovers of gore will be disappointed, too, as the bits that were quite nasty were done with very poor effects.

I already think I've written enough about this although there are many more words which could be used to demonstrate its awfulness. The one thing I don't understand is why it was made in the first place. Surely the filmmakers new they were flogging a dead horse. I would have preferred watching a horse being flogged for 2 hours than watching this.

Wow, I haven't seen one this bad in a long time.
HectorDuvall24 March 2009
Really? This made it into the After Dark series? This really strikes me as odd. I won't go into plot details because it's already been talked about. I'll just state my opinion. See below if you wish to compare your taste to mine.

As a fan of the genre since I was 5 years old (I'm 35 now), and as a fan of the After Dark series, I do have to say that this is probably the worst movie I've seen in awhile. And I've seen some really bad stuff. I own about 3000 Horror movies and I've watched at least 200 in this past year alone. I've watched all of the ADH movies since 2006 and IMO it just keeps getting better every year. -Except for this one. Wow. It DRAGS. It's BORING. And not in the way that a decent psychological horror is slow. Nothing in this movie was done well and it wasn't even slightly entertaining to me. I found myself twirling my headphone cord and looking at the clock thinking, "What? There's still almost an hour left?!". This movie gave me the same feeling as I get sitting in the waiting room at a doctor's office. And again, not slow in a good way like Rosemary's Baby (with build up, character development, decent performances, good dialog, and an unraveling plot). This was quite the opposite actually. It tried to be a psychological thriller, but had absolutely no heart. It was very mechanical and redundant. Obviously, I was quite disappointed because I love this series.

Please do not judge the After Dark series (Especially the third series) by this one. It's nowhere near as good as the rest of them. All of the others had something to grab a hold of, and many of them went far beyond that. This felt more like a made for TV movie that was rejected or something (and not because of the lack of gore, there are plenty of dead and tortured pigs in it). Very amateur, and again, not in a good way. Not in the way that we B-Movie hounds love so much.

I feel bad writing this because whoever made it at least gave it a shot, but I really recommend skipping over this one and choosing something else from this series. I really hope this one doesn't turn people off to The After Dark Horrorfest, because most of the other movies in the series are extremely entertaining and fun! Examples of Horror That I Like: Phantasm, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, They Live, 28 Days Later, Night of the Living Dead, Eraserhead, Texas Chainsaw, The Shining, Sleepy Hollow, Alien, The Amittyville Horror, Creepshow, Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, The Ring, MBV3D, and all sorts of other classic, new, and/or low budget horror.

Fun movie!
jennifer-25-96523127 July 2011
Based on the title of this film I went into this thinking I was heading for a ride of blood and gore instead I ended up watching what would be my perfect chick flick.

This isn't a fast paced movie by far, the first hour really only focuses on the relationship of the two girls and slowly, but interesting you learn about their heart wrenching pasts. The two girls spend their days giggling, having fun and going out at night to party while you start to feel yourself get pulled into the story.

Before all the chickness gets to be too much the movie does a turn around and then starts the cringing moments that all us horror lovers love so much. There are some pretty nasty scenes which make up for the lack of gore all of which whirlwinds to a shocking end. This was a great flick.

Good acting bad ending
danieljknight10 April 2009
Disappointing ending, don't bother. 10 for the acting of the two mains, 1 for the cliché ending. The girls were pretty, acted well, and the movie was surprisingly entertaining despite the lack of action. It was a relax type movie with tension. I wouldn't watch it if you aren't into disappointments or silly endings like this one had.

Man, I can't post this comment without adding ten lines of text, come on, OK does this count? Ten lines ten lines. Reminds me of that nonsense from stupid teachers who tell you that you must put x amount of pages into your essay, as if there's always a lot to say and anything that's not rehash, and as if the more you say matters more than what you are saying.

What else... I wouldn't watch this movie with kids that's for sure, it was just gore and slaughter, it had other things that you wouldn't want your little kids dwelling on.

Slaughter: Pigshit
imagiking3 July 2010
Yet another low budget horror encountered by some strange mix of chance and curiosity, Slaughter is a film I happily put on with no knowledge of what to expect.

Following the young Faith as she flees the paranoid clutches of her apparently unstable ex-boyfriend, Slaughter sees her leave the big city to escape to the rural beauty of a farmhouse with friend Lola. The fear of the life she left behind catching up to her combines with the oddness of the neighbouring slaughterhouse farmer to create an uncomfortable strangeness...

This one decides to start us off with some hand-held dark jump cut shots of a girl being dragged across a farm and dumped in a lake before introducing us to our main character. And that's fine, for now. After some hideously clichéd caricatures are thrown at us, we move from the city to the farm: a farm where the ladies are sure to do some heavy work in skimpy clothing, of course. Already things are vacuous and ghastly. Cue a shady farmer, some slight mystery, and our main character's sudden development into the type of person who wanders repeatedly into areas she shouldn't go. Let's have some more vacuousness and ghastliness in the form of an utterly unnecessary lesbian kiss, pandering to the brigade of eager males we obviously should expect to find amidst our audience. The "slow building of tension" is really just a lack of decent plot, as evidenced by the film's apparent indecision in choosing its antagonist. Why not hold at least two in waiting, just in case? We get to see just about every over-used element of cheap horror cinema as the film drags on, provoking our slow slip from our chairs as the eyelids begin to droop, simultaneously welling with tears of despair and hope that this will all soon end. But no, the slow beginning appears not to have consumed enough of the running time to prevent a deliriously drawn out last act of "twists": silly turns in plot making little sense, and even less surprise. By the final resolution of the story, a painfully pathetic attempt at finishing a woeful piece of unending rubbish, I was almost weeping in agony. This was a truly testing experience; one which demanded a tremendous amount of resilience and restraint to keep my fingers separated from the eject button. Oh, and if the lack of tension, characterisation, fear, plot, dialogue, interest, emotion, or any form of artistic merit wasn't enough for you, the film flips daintily from looking like a television programme to a video game to something resembling a film, and back again and again and again.

With absolutely nothing, and I do mean nothing, to assuage the pain of wasting however long that apparent infinity actually lasted, Slaughter is, perhaps fittingly, pigshit. One of the very VERY worst films I've ever had to sit through, it's just angering in its awfulness.

Hints at Horror
loomis78-815-98903418 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Faith (Shiels) has gone into hiding due to an obsessive and abusive boyfriend (Daniels). She meets a Farm girl named Lola (Holt) in a club and takes her offer to stay with her on the family farm over the summer. Lola's creepy father (Sterne) Seems to be slaughtering things in one of the farms as Lola reveals her slutty side to Faith picking up guys at the bar and taking them home. Problem is that there is no sign of them in the morning. Lola was sexually abused by Dad while growing up and the two girls bond through the common ground of being damaged. A few late movie twists in the plot show Lola as quite unstable and dangerous as the truth is revealed all the way up to a controversial ending. This movie starts off on the wrong foot in its first scene by showing something that happens much later and giving away its impact. The developing friendship between Faith and Lola are handled well by leads Holt and Shiels and is the movies strongest attribute. There are a few hints at horror early on but it doesn't get nasty until towards the end. In many ways it plays like a thriller until it gets a bit gory in the climax. Writer/Director Stewart Hopewell keeps the story between the girls interesting enough to watch but that's about it. The horror borders on torture porn towards the end and the film manages a little suspense but no real scares.

Disappointing Conclusion with Successive Twists
claudio_carvalho9 January 2010
Faith (Amy Shiels) head to Atlanta with her friend Cathy (Antonia Bernath) fleeing from her abusive and violent boyfriend Jimmy (Vance Daniels). During the night, they go to a night-club to celebrate the beginning of a new life for the needy and vulnerable Faith, and she helps the girl Lola (Lucy Holt) that is harassed by her date. Faith and Lola become friends and Lola invites Faith to move to her house, in a farm nearby the city where she lives with her father that she is not close and two brothers. When Jimmy calls Faith, she accepts the invitation and moves to the farmhouse. Sooner she becomes curious with the slaughterhouse close to the barn that is always locked and realizes that Lola brings different men to spend the night with her, but they vanish in the morning. Faith decides to snoop the slaughterhouse disclosing a dark secret about Lola and her weird family.

"Slaughter" has a promising story but a disappointing conclusion with successive twists. The unusual attitudes of the characters in the mouse- and-cat game and coincidences in the plot ruin what could be a good movie. The police never comes while Faith has the chance to drive her trunk away from the evil farm and then she has the whole situation under control that reverts too many times for my taste. The unknown Lucy Holt and Amy Shiels are very beautiful and talented actresses and I look forward to see them again. My vote is six.

Amongst the worst Movies I have ever seen
overkillxx26 August 2009
1 1/2 hours of absolute dribble before one of the worst most depressing endings possible. The director deserves to be castrated for this utter crap of an excuse of a horror movie that isn't even what I would call a horror except for the plot which truly was horrific. If you truly hate someone I would recommend this movie to them for the thorough enjoyment in knowing that you will waist 1 1/2 hours of there life & they will hate you back without doubt..

In addition to the awful ending someone should tell the morons that wrote and directed this that a double barrel shotgun only holds 2 shots not 3!!

Avoid this movie at all costs, I literally feel nauseous after watching it and nearly pulled my hair out at the end in disbelief and anger. I cant say enough bad things about it to make myself feel better, hopefully the director, actors and all associated with it never work again!!

AfterDark Horrorfest 2009: Slaughter
kyleallen_918 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
If you want to see a psychological shocker, then Slaughter is the flick to see. I recently saw this movie during the after dark 2009 horror-fest and I really liked it. It doesn't have a whole lot of gore in it, but it is pretty violent. The reason that it gets its name, is because of the slaughter house on this farm, where unspeakable acts are being committed. It pretty much focuses on a young woman, who flees from a violent relationship and meets another lonely young woman, who lives on a farm and has a bad relationship with her father. when she arrives on the farm, she uncovers disturbing family secrets that are about to break out and destroy her. This movie is very suspenseful and diabolical. I cant wait for it's DVD release in March, it is definitely worth checking out!

solid movie
rivertam265 May 2009
This is a really solid entry in the after dark library inspired by a true story. The film centers on a young woman running from her abusive past and settles down with a new girl she meets on her family farm. But suspicious events begin to take place and disturbing family secrets are revealed culminating to a truly nightmarish outcome. Slaughter feels a little lifetime movieish at times but it really does excel the standard clichés of its storyline. The film feels intimate almost to the point that I'm not sure that I'd wanna meet Stewart Hopewell. It rides the same line of suspense as the strangers but delivering a little more bang for your buck. It's slightly slow moving but suspenseful and the performances are believable. It really is a little gem more of a psychological thriller than a straight out horror film the film will surely leave you creeped out when it's far over.

A little advice to the Creator's
ChrisMichael816 June 2010
First of all this movie is not a horror movie. Second of all I understand that this was a low budget film. But just because it is low budget does not mean the actors have to be beyond terrible and the writing can be this bad. Third and this is the most important advice you really need to follow. The score of a film is meant to create and enhance the flow of the images and dialogue on the screen. Using it to create tension in a horror movie works really well. Instead you choose to play one crappy obscure emo rock song after another. I got the feeling that this entire film was made to show us someones terrible choice in musical taste's. Lastly I implore you to go and watch some good horror films that had less of a budget than your film, trust me there are many and how they made film into art. Not blow money on mindless trash.

7 Films to Die For - 1 Film to Die From
dagonseve14 July 2010
The After Dark Horrorfest is an annual horror festival that's run independently here in the United States by After Dark Films - the event's chief organizer. Sometimes this gathering is also referred to as "8 Films to Die For" and judging by that phrase you can assume how many films are released with the introduction of each new festival. After Dark Films has been pretty successful in bringing fans some solid titles to add to their collection. Naturally, there are a few that are just plain awful, as with any independent or major-league release...so whether it's the big-time or not, a bad movie is a bad movie. Horrorfest 2007 brought us, in my opinion, probably the worst title yet with Crazy Eights. I honestly thought the low point existed with this film, that is, until I recently witnessed a cruel act upon humanity known as Slaughter; a smack in the face by an iron gauntlet, forcing us to lower the bar of standards so much that not even a rat could limbo under it.

The story hones in on a young woman named Faith who resides in Atlanta; having recently escaped an abusive relationship by the hands of her aggressive ex-boyfriend. Faith is then introduced to Lola at a nightclub and the two eventually agree to room together in the outskirts of the city at her father's farm. Faith notices a strange vibe after a short time on the premises when a shocking discovery surfaces during the height of the film's climax.

With a title like Slaughter you'd almost expect something drastic or chaotic to happen but you'll be so hard-pressed for a modicum of action you'd have better luck waiting near your bedside window in hopes of Peter Pan whisking you off to Neverland. In place of such whimsical thoughts, you're swept into an hour and 35 minute vacuum, that as you guessed, is comprised of nothing - but oh, maybe just some cheap dialogue, run-of-the-mill acting, and a musical score that centers around showcasing hipster radio hits (perhaps with the exception of one song, which remarkably doesn't fit in with the rest at all). The characters themselves stand around with blank and unintelligible stares on their faces, the plot slows to a crawl almost immediately, and well before anything exciting happens over an hour in, you're so fed up with the aspect of boredom that you could simply care less what happens next.

Slaughter emphasizes that it was based on true events, perhaps even as real as the Tooth Fairy or a Hobbit; ludicrously gesturing for us to believe that it holds any importance over the plot or outcome. Humans have experienced the atrocities of real-world serial killers like Richard Ramirez and Gary Heidnik - both of which were brought to justice and dealt with. Did the producers of Slaughter honestly think that some tame, mediocre endeavor would stun audiences compared to the horrors that exist in our society? Get real!

One scene depicts an instance where a pair of pliers are used to forcefully remove teeth but even this scene is done so borishly you can't help but wonder why they chose the title "Slaughter" to represent the film. I don't require brutality or a certain level of gore to fulfill my movie-watching needs but it seems that the writers or possibly even the director decided to mix both schools of thought when it comes to subtlety and shock value; what I mean by this is that some scenes have the potential to be extreme, the few that exist, but instead the camera turns away just in time to save us from having to view it. One could agree that if the acting is sub-standard, the screenplay a carbon copy of 500 other horror films, the cinematography and choice of lighting merely "ok", then why not move forward into an area that horror hounds would find favorable?

I don't expect a movie of my choosing to be original in its presentation because there are several titles I could list that were either inspired, or came as a result of, existing films; they turned out wonderfully. Slaughter is the reason why the phrase "money-making exercise" was coined...it's simply that, and nothing more; an indelible mark on canvas that cannot be blotted out or removed. I might be able to bend the validity of a film like this if I weren't such a die hard fan and just accepted that it was produced more for the casual viewer - but Slaughter was showcased at a HORROR FESTIVAL. Casual fans don't go to horror festivals, and if they do, they are in the minority. So what exactly where they thinking?!

The creators of this film need to remove The Texas Chainsaw Massacre DVD out of their units, tear down the posters of Gunner Hansen they have signed and autographed on their walls, and think up something that offers an air of refreshment - perhaps this will save them from being labeled hacks.

Let's agree at least that it's not a horror...
zfiany9 November 2009
If you like horror movies, then I will be doing you a favor by telling you before you buy it that it is not a horror.

The movie succeeds in raising your curiosity towards the slaughter in the farm. And this is the only good thing about the movie next to the little kid indeed as one of the viewers said.

The scene when she pulls her friend's teeth is good, to be fair it was really good. The big brother who gets killed later in the movie, I don't know why you expect him to have a different role.

Nothing really much to say about this movie but it's really not a good movie.

The only thing slaughtered here was the plot. Girl on the run ends up with a predator roommate out on a farm where her prey is fed to the pigs. The ending was laughable - allowing the villain to pull the trigger on them all.

Below average attempt at horror.
sanovabeech23 April 2022
A mediocre attempt at horror, that hints but doesn't really deliver on the promises.

The strange part is that I keep seeing the comment that it is "based on true events". But I've search for quite a while and can't find any information on any real event that remotely resembles this story. I would really like to know what event "inspired" this movie.

Why Does This Exist?
MisterSisterFister8 November 2018
Every copy of this should be in a landfill. Nothing happens in this movie. The story sucks, the characters are boring, nothing is worth caring about, the pacing is that of a snail - I felt like I wasn't even watching a horror movie, let alone one called "Slaughter."

The acting is atrocious and the two leading actresses look exactly the same, so its impossible to tell the difference sometimes, especially when one is just as bland as the other. Was it too much to have one of them dye her hair a different color so no one will confuse them?

I'm so glad they no longer do these stupid After Dark Horrorfest movies anymore. Every single one of them is terrible. They should've just called themselves the "After Dark Snoozefest."

Every character is incredibly stupid and it's evident in their nonsensical actions that no one would ever make. Nothing about this movie makes any sense - NOTHING AT ALL. This is one of the absolute worst this company of losers has made.

Gruesome, evil and mind-blowing.
nitzanhavoc17 January 2013
Slaughter is a film about lies, deceptions, misleads and throwing people off the right track. The very name is misleading, making one think they're about to see nothing more than gore, severed organs and blood. Instead - Slaughter pleasantly surprises the audience with some well thought of and executed ideas and screen writing.

Slaughter is what one would call a "slow pace" film. The first little under hour is nothing like the final 30 minutes or so. At first the audience is told a nice story about new beginnings, new friendship bonds and how people cope with their traumatic pasts. Almost an after-school special, with some occasional suspicions of foul play and murder. Then? All hell breaks loose.

The twist towards the 2nd part and ending is multiplied by the twist in the film's general mood. The reassuring sensation that once the scary part is over the ending will be comforting - is soon replaced by the gruesome and shocking reality.

This new kind of Slasher-murderer is innovative and intense, and the twist is very well thought of. Very nicely done by screenwriter and director Stewart Hopewell. The soundtrack is also very good and used very well during the film, especially in the end.

This film isn't one of those that one finishes watching with a good feeling. An excellent embodiment of Horror, as the opposite of "American Hollywood" films.

Horror fans will enjoy this, hopefully as much as I did!

Girl meets girl
ctomvelu113 June 2010
It is nigh to impossible to sit through this slow-moving, no-budget variation on THE Texas CHAINSAW MASSACRE. A troubled young woman joins up with another young woman she meets in the city and goes to stay with her at the family farm. Something unsavory is going on in the farm's barn, and curiosity soon gets the better of our heroine. What she discovers puts her life in jeopardy. The two gals are reasonably attractive but marginal when it comes to acting ability, and the ending is majorly disappointing. Essentially, this is a no-gore horror flick that depends more on sound effects than visceral visuals. I would say you may safely pass on this one, which drags badly. A typical TV show is better than this.

Very effective thriller
geddyleeisgod21 August 2011
This reminded me a lot of Haute Tension, the French thriller.

Miss Shiels is breathtakingly lovely and very understated in her role, which heightened the movie's believability for me. The villain was also superb, and there were a number of surprise twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. Slick writing, beautiful cinematography, great soundtrack.

Miss Holt is also fantastic, and Maxim Knight is wonderful, adding just the right touch of deep pathos to the movie.

I am astounded this movie didn't get better ratings from the viewers; I'd recommend it without hesitation to horror aficionados.

Hope to see much more of Miss Shiels; she's dizzingly gorgeous.

It's complicated
kosmasp8 May 2020
Two female leads, and interesting concept ... well it began so promising and I reckon some will liked it more after that strong beginning. But it feels it did not utilize everything it set out to do. Having said that, the ending shot is quite the "wtf" moment. There could have been a sound to make it even more of a shocker, but it works as it is too.

Having said that, this is about relationships, about the depravity of human nature and the lengths one troubled mind will go to ... well set things straight. No mater the cost. Is it the parents fault alone if kids turn out that way? There is something more to this than meets the eye and as I said, I think it could have aimed a bit higher in some regards - as it is, it is a solid thriller

Good idea, poorly executed.
brasco-631394 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After reading the description and watching the trailer, I thought to myself, "This sounds like a good idea for a movie." The plot seemed strong, the actresses were good looking with nice bods (of course for a horror movie), and I thought that blood and gore were in my future. NOPE! It moved very, very, very (repeating) slow. Not only did the plot drag forever, they didn't even make up for it by giving you the gratuitous nice rack shot. WTF! And all that blood and gore I was looking forward too, were nothing more than quick kills and tiny splatters (the only exception being the tooth pulling scene). In one scene the chick had blood splatter all over her face, and in the next scene it was completely gone, like nothing had happened. I also love how the 125 pound female can choke out the muscular dude like it's no big deal (not even a little fight). Good concept, decent acting, but overall, A COLOSSAL SWING AND MISS!!!

Way too many coincidences

(2008) Slaughter HORROR

Straight-to-rental horror film co-written and directed by Stewart Hopewell starts out promising, about a teenage girl, Faith (Amy Shiels) attempts to be independent again from an abusive and controlling boyfriend, finally settles to living on a farm with another teenage girl, Lola (Lucy Holt) and her eccentric family, holding with her some dark secrets of her own.

It says that it's inspired by actual events, but the film gets more convoluted as the film progresses! This is one of those films where the protagonist is nosy on one area without her being curious enough to checking other places, full of coincidences.
