Not appearing at an ice-rink near you this Christmas.
BA_Harrison28 November 2010
The title of this film puts me in mind of those figure-skating shows they put on at Christmas—only in this case, instead of Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty On Ice, it would be hot babes in itsy-bitsy bikinis performing the choctaws, camel spins, and triple salchows with a twist to the strains of Bolero (sadly, I imagine such an event is unlikely to happen due to the high risk of hypothermia).

Anyway, enough of these flights of fantasy... in reality, Bikini Girls On Ice is a routine slasher the likes of which we have seen many times before, only this time around the helpless female victims are a bunch of hot college girls in sexy swim-wear hoping to raise some cash by holding a bikini car-wash. En route to the location of the event, their bus breaks down outside an abandoned gas station, home to a hulking, wheezing, sweaty, lank-haired maniac called Moe who puts his prey into freezers packed with ice (hence the title!).

Exactly who Moe is, why he does what he does, and how come no-one has ever called in the cops to investigate is never explained, and that's just a few of the reasons why this movie sucks, even with the ever present sight of curvaceous cuties jiggling their bits in front of the camera. Other reasons why this films bites: only one pair of bare breasts; virtually no gore; extremely dumb characters; a killer who is able to pop up wherever he likes—the list goes on...

What I fail to understand is how anyone can make such a dreary film from such a simple set-up. You got a drooling inbred psycho and half a dozen sexy girls wearing nothing but scraps of material (the sort of garments that can be removed with one easy tug)—how hard can it really be to turn that into a reasonably entertaining movie?

3.5 out of 10, very generously rounded up to 4 for all the pretty ladies.

Pointless teen slasher.
poolandrews24 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Bikini Girls on Ice starts as a group of several teenage college friends prepare to raise some funds by holding a bikini car wash where several hot teenage girls wearing very revealing bikini's will wash your car, for money. Brother's Blake (Tarek Gader) & Tommy (Ivan Peric) have laid on the transport, an old school bus that breaks down on the way to wherever they are going. Stuck at an old, seemingly abandoned gas station the girls decide to hold their bikini car wash there to make the best out of a bad situation. However all is not well as a psycho mechanic gas station attendant named Moe (William Jarand) start to kill them all one by one...

This Canadian production was co-written, co-produced & directed by Geoff Klein & is really scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of entertainment value, basically Bikini Girls on Ice is one of the most simplistic & pointless films I can remember seeing. Even as a teen slasher Bikini Girls on Ice is shallow, a group of good looking teens, most of whom are virtually naked save for some skimpy bikini's, break down in an isolated area & then start getting killed by some psycho. Character background is none existent, we know the girls are friends but other than that they are cardboard cutouts, the killer is just a guy who doesn't say anything & whenever he kills someone he puts their body in ice for no apparent reason, we never discover who he is or why he is a psycho killer or even how he manages to keep a job as a mechanic down & the ending which suggest a sequel is baffling, I mean didn't one of the girls make it out alive? Didn't she like tell the police that some psycho killed all her friends? At only 80 minutes long Bikini Girls on Ice still drags badly, nothing & I repeat nothing happens between the killing & once the gimmick of seeing the female cast walking around in bikini's becomes boring there is zero else here to enjoy. There's no plot, there's no explanations, no reasoning & dumb character's you don't care about along with several groan inducing moments like the girls opening the car trunk at the end (how did Moe get inside the trunk, close it & return the keys to the gas station for the girls to find?), why when Moe attacks them don't the girls get back in the car & drive off after they injure him?

The gore & kill scenes fail to impress & are pretty poor too, almost all of the murders are Moe hitting someone with something but the way the murders are shot it's filmed from the perspective of the victim so it just looks like Moe is hitting the camera lens & while there's a bit of blood splatter there's nothing graphic here apart from a gory slit throat which gushes blood is the films only proper special effect. Despite the title & obvious exploitation roots there's no real nudity, I think only one girl gets nude while the other's manage to keep their bikini's on. I will say that Bikini Girls on Ice is well made though, it has a certain slick look that isn't going to win any awards for style but looks polished.

Filmed in Montréal in Québec in Canada the production values are better than expected but the film still sucks. The acting isn't great, the girls look nice enough but that's the best thing I can say about them.

Bikini Girls on Ice has a great sounding title (the sort of title Troma would have dreamed up) but as a film it's the pits, the plot is as bare bones as they come, even for a teen slasher & it's nowhere near exploitative enough with little or no gore & not much in the way of proper nudity either.

the title says it, bikini's
trashgang22 December 2010
If you are a horror geek you can't get a better title than Bikini Girls On Ice. One reason to give Geoff Klein (director and writer) a big cheer. Secondly, they knew how to promote their slasher, put a girl on the cover of the DVD wearing a revealing bikini, another cheer. So far the good points, sadly it's down hill from here on. It's really a slasher but one we have seen a thousand times. Nothing is explained about the killer, not who he is or why he's killing or why he use ice. Of course, once the girls have a break down with their bus on the way to a bikini car wash they've been warned by a local that something is terrible wrong with the abandoned gas station. The killer itself is believable but there is no gore in it. It's all filmed from the view of the victim so you only see him hitting and smashing heads. Now and then you see a bit of blood spurting on the lens. Just at the end it is enjoyable due the suspense given. And then there are of course the girls. Admit it, you not only watched it for the horror but also for the juggs. And it's a bit flat (no pun intended) on that way too. With a title like that you expect that the bikini's will be removed, well I have to disappoint you freaks, just one girl show her titties. And talking about their boobs, I guess the Americans will be disappointed by the 'natural' breasts by the girls. For the other geeks worldwide, there are no two-a penny fake tits wannabees. Maybe Suzi Lorraine has fake ones, she's the most loaded of them all. And have a look, the title really worked, I'm talking more about that than about the horror.

Interesting, but not for the right reasons
neil-47612 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I found this film - which is a great deal less titillating than the salacious title would have you believe - interesting. Not good, but interesting.

It is an absolutely generic slasher movie in which, for reasons which do not matter in the slightest, a bunch of bikini-clad girls are stranded at a deserted petrol station following which they are killed, one by one, by a pump attendant who communicates solely in snarls.

On the plus side - and this is what I found interesting - the film is well photographed. Night lighting is good, camera placement and shot selection is all thoughtful, and a moderate amount of technical proficiency seems to have gone into the mechanics of making the film. And the girls are a) cute, b) in bikinis (as advertised), and c) entirely without the aid of surgical enhancement.

However, the film is trite and derivative, the killer is without motive or sense, and while there may be moderate suspense at times, there are no surprises whatsoever: the whole thing is predictable from start to finish. Therefore, on a creative level, the film must be considered a failure.

Fails to deliver
Ravnehjerte937 January 2017
This review have also been uploaded to my user page, Bml93, at Listal.com

Well, what can you actually expect from a title with the name of Bikini Girls on Ice? It's not really a film you put on if you want to see top- notch quality. But is it a crime to put on a film like this, in hope for it to be entertaining? No, it's not. Bikini Girls on Ice is exactly what it sounds like in one way, and it's far from what one would expect in another, more crucial way. It's what you would expect in that the title delivers exactly what it says. Girls walking around in bikinis, only to be put on ice later. Unfortunately, the film doesn't deliver where it should deliver. It fails to fulfill the number one rule of slasher films. It's not entertaining.

When you seek out films like this, there's only two things you need in order to be entertained. Some well-placed nudity (these are films for guys after all) and some cheap, imaginative and gory kills. This is supposed to be cheap entertainment in almost a "so bad it's good" way. If those two things are delivered, it's very easy to forgive things as atrocious actors portraying not particularly likable characters and an idiotic plot. But when the film fails to deliver those two things, you're left with a real turd.

It's really hard to see what the director of this film was actually thinking? What creative reason did he have for choosing the decision that ruined the little hope this film had to come off as passable entertainment? You see, instead of filming stupid, hot and naked teenagers getting brutally murdered in the most unthinkable ways, writer/director Geoff Klein decided for a completely different approach to the material. He decided to have every kill offscreen. Instead of seeing people getting unmercifully maimed, Klein decided to show blood sprouting over the wall or the killer's face instead. Aside from one kill (who is painfully generic), every kill in this film is happening offscreen. It's beyond my belief how a 2009 film ended up by doing that.

It doesn't even have that many kills in it. We're early in the film introduced to a bus load of bikini clothed females, but after some minutes of tame, supposedly erotic, car washing, half of the females just walks(!) away. We're cheated for four-five more kills in the most illogical and stupid manner possible. So Klein obviously thinks that seeing a few girls getting murdered offscreen in their bikins is enough to entertain. It's not. It's not nearly enough.

It's quite simply a film that doesn't manage to compensate for it's awful script and acting. The film delivers girls dressed in bikins as the title promises, but it doesn't deliver any of the actual good things one would expect from a title like that. We're shown one set of boobs and actually shown one kill. The rest is offscreen, and that makes for really bad film.

It's a miss.
McQualude29 May 2015
Bikini Girls on Ice tries to be a throwback to 80's slashers but lacks atmosphere, nudity, gore or a credible killer. I can live with the girls being terrible actors, clearly they were hired for their ability to wear a bikini but their characters were unlikable and dumb. Likewise, all the male characters except one are unlikable and dumb. The story, thin as it is, doesn't make any sense. The killer, played by William Jarand, kept making weird grunting sounds and was just not menacing. Maybe if this were edited down to 60 minutes it would be watchable, maybe slightly enjoyable, but there is just too much fluff. Slashers were a genre of their time, difficult to replicate these days.

Don't Watch. Waste Of Time
One_slice_of_pizza2 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Why do we watch slashers? To see beautiful girls and original killings. Unfortunately this movie lacks in the second department. Leave aside the originality, you can't even see the killings properly. Because the shots are done from the victim's perspective so all you see is some sweaty mad man bashing people with several tools, without a clear reason or back story. And that's pretty much it. No gore, no blood, nothing! Just some stupid half naked characters running around like a headless chicken and getting offed one by one by this mad mechanic.

Lol at the genius writer/director, why did you even bother shooting a slasher if you are not going to show us the killings, eh? This Geoff should just flip burgers instead of shooting movies, for the sake of the genre and our sanity. Please Geoff, stay 10 miles away from the camera and go write children's books if you have an itch to scratch. Apparently shooting a horror/slasher is way beyond your skills and imagination.

Dull and very generic...
paul_haakonsen20 December 2015
Actually the title itself is a sufficient enough reason to stay clear of this movie. I watched it, though, in the slight hope that it might actually turn out to be a decent slasher movie. But no, it was quite the opposite.

The story is very simple and generic; a group of young women get trapped in the middle of nowhere with a deviant killer on the rampage.

"Bikini Girls On Ice" was an entertaining as it was original, enough said. The murderer is no next Jason, Freddy or Michael that is fore sure. In fact you will have forgotten about him immediately when the movie ends. And as for the actual killings, well nothing out of the ordinary, a shame because it could have been what salvaged the movie.

All throughout the movie the girls were in bikinis, hence the title. Yeah, I know that it might appeal to a large group of guys, but it was just idiotic. Why would people run around in bikinis during night time? So these women could bring mobile phones but not clothes? It was just so pathetically lame.

If you, like me, enjoy a good and entertaining slasher movie, then do yourself a favor and stay well clear of "Bikini Girls On Ice". I suffered through it so you don't have to.

An Honest Review
generationofswine15 January 2019
Meh....That's about all you need to know.

When I see a movie with a title like "Bikini Girls on Ice" there are a few things that I expect. Bikinis are certainly one of them, as is nudity, poor acting, sex, and most importantly camp and silliness.

And it was the last two that the film was really lacking (though it wasn't exactly as advertised). It did need to be more salacious, but it also needed to be campy and silly with horribly low production values, a lot of skin, and a script, cast, and director that understood that they were just making a silly fun movie.

This film took itself far too seriously and it suffered from it.

Let's be honest, it's supposed to be a trashy fun totally inappropriate film, if you miss the FUN all you have is trash. And in this case, it's trash that isn't totally inappropriate.

Managed To Sneak In UNDER My Expectations
dukevega23 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Some movies you just know are going to be bad, and normally I'm able to resist their siren call; but with this one, like a car wreck you have to rubberneck, it just has to be looked at. I think it was the title (I admit it, I'm a movie snob, but I'm still superficial at times).

This is a by-the-numbers slasher flick, with all the usual elements: Good Girl Protagonist, Morally Corrupt Associates, The Cute Guy She Really Likes, Abandoned Setting, Warning By Kooky Local Which Goes Ignored, People Going Off Alone So They Can Be Easily Killed, Killer With Vanishing Skills That Would Make A Ninja Green With Envy, and the Indestructible Killer (did I miss any? I tend to avoid slasher movies, so I may have missed a few).

However, there were two important points the makers missed, the Killer's Backstory and the Virgin's Revenge. Now, with the Killer's Backstory, I'm sure that had there been one it would have made little difference in the overall quality of the film, but it would've been nice to have some reason why he did what he did.

My degree in Armchair Psychology tells me this guy grew up in an abusive home by a single parent (I'm not sure which). Given his penchant for cutting off his victims' bikini tops, either he watched as his father brought home women and focused on their breasts or his mother liked going around the house topless. As for his apparent sexual thrusting during his kills, he was probably caught masturbating and beaten within an inch of his life and now has severe performance anxiety.

As for the Virgin's Revenge, missing this one is practically a cardinal sin. You've seen it once, you've seen it a million times. The morally pure protagonist, having spent the first 90% of the movie trying to escape the killer, now faces down the deranged killer all by herself and only by casting aside her puritanical values is she able to defeat him.

But in this, aside from throwing a knife into his neck, the protagonist keeps running around screaming and asking him why he's doing what he's doing. Only a timely arrival by the Kooky Local (now armed with a shotgun) saves her. What's more, we don't even see this final battle, instead we are treated to a close up of her eyes. Granted, in real life this is exactly what would happen, but this isn't real life, this is a slasher flick.

Usually, when I go into a movie with low expectations, there is always something that keeps it from being a complete waste of my time, but this one actually managed to come in under my expectations. I think I'm going to watch "Scream" now to see a slasher movie done right.

Enjoyable enough for the most part
kannibalcorpsegrinder15 December 2022
Heading out for a team exercise, members of a cheerleading squad holding a bikini carwash are forced to use the seemingly abandoned gas station where they breakdown for their fundraiser only to find it home to a maniacal killer hunting them one-by-one.

This was a pretty solid slasher effort. Among its more intriguing aspects is the chilling slasher setup that works the formula quite effectively. The manner of acquiring the necessary bodies at the remote location, having the bus break down at the location forcing them to perform their duties there causes this to feel quite familiar for old-school slasher fanatics. With the familiar formula of the clueless kids wandering around the area and getting into surprise confrontations with the killer, it generates a likable and immersible setup. There's also a lot to like here with the actual slashing scenes throughout here. From the opening stalking and ambush of the lone traveler to the quick disposal of the tourists and in incredibly tense stalking in the darkened office building, this one manages to work an extremely effective mixture of suspense and brutality. The attacks are unrelenting and over-the-top in how much punishment is doled out to victims have a spectacular air to it, and with the high-energy finale as the relentless stalking and chasing which highlights his personality really well, there's quite a lot to like about it. There are a couple of flaws found here. The biggest issue here is the film's rather confusing and somewhat irritating main group of girls who are completely oblivious to everything around them and stay there far longer than they should. Staying there the entire day into the night in their bikinis is one thing but failing to recognize when others have left, leaving tasks to investigate unnatural noises that aren't human, or dealing with personal issues instead of staying together to put themselves in his path make them out to be far too stupid at times merely to prolong this one for no reason. The other issue that holds this back is the wholly confusing nature of the killer who's brutal but a complete unknown. The only clue to his name comes from a throwaway remark about the name tag on his uniform when they notice it near the end of the film, there's nothing about what he's doing the packed-in-ice thing for or what it means, and the entire thing with him is a blur. As well, the film somewhat suffers from some typical low-budget issues in terms of the effects work or other issues that denote its low-budget appeal, but overall, these aren't as detrimental.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language, Graphic Violence, Nudity, and a sex scene.

Very disappointing.
TaxFries23 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The slasher genre is now over 30 years old (over 50 years old if dated to Hitchcock's Psycho), and like those indestructible bogeymen it just keeps going and going. BGOI is a truly awful testament to its longevity. The writer-director of BGOI should have spent just five minutes considering what Hitchcock (a director of suspenseful films) might have made of the truly dull opening scene - which was a portent of what was to come.

After the credits, we are treated to an amusing quarter-of-an-hour of bikini-girl-comedy before the tone changes and the maniac resumes his 'Leatherface' impersonation in scenes which are totally out of kilter with the comedy-horror premise. One character after another walks into the shadows and, with predictable certainty, is bludgeoned with a mallet.

The youthful cast do all that is asked of them and cannot be faulted for their efforts to make the most of what they are given.
