Seriously, who gave this 6.8 stars? Did the person watch the movie at all? Very poor acting and predictable scenes. Don't waste your time.

This movie COULD have been good, but sorry, this movie is not even a 5!!! The acting by most characters is bad, Its barely watchable. I was doing other things while it was on and even then I was going to turn it off.
The one cop couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.. soooo bad. The story line was weak... I will give it a 2-3 score for a couple of the fighting scenes.
DO NOT watching this movie if you are actually planning on paying detailed attention to it... find a better movie, it shouldn't be hard.
Its a real shame that people will give high scores to a movie that is terrible and wastes our time.

Square to the bitter end, its an attempt , and with just a loose story and in my opinion wrong use of a 100% clear picture filming, instead of smoky and hazy environments you have almost a sterile and even a facemasked environment, a kitchen without damp and smoke. And the location settings so slick and free of anything that might disturb your attention, its just too nicely made , and leads me back to bbc.tv productions from the late 1970's, where the crystal is so clear...
but its an actioncomedy where the protagonist eats the opportunist and the antagonist plays high voltage snooker with the agonists, purely made for the fans of mockup movies, there are sections that are just brilliantly fun, but they are short and drowns in its badly made action scenes, dead men that cant stand still, and well groomed stallion-hudlum- actors that just waits and seeks the uppercuts and meatgrinding jackets made of solid lead, a script composed for the untrained part of the cast, and uses bruce dern for all he is worth just to make a poster with a name we all know.
So the grumpy old man delivers a weak 5 stars to this remnants of a supernova living its afterlife as a brown dwarf, its definately not a film that should be seen rather a could be seen movie along with a beer and your buddies, cause it has its moments of caricatour caracters that will make you smile, even though the superhero and revenge feeling fails to come.

Only reason I watched this was of Bruce Dern. IMDB gives a 7.9 rating must watch. Worst movie ever!! No plot, no acting, no nothing. Nothing in this movie is worth watching. Stupid, no action and fake moves. Main actor, and all other actors showed no talent. Big regrets for watching this flick. Doesn't even rate a "B" class. Who the hell gives it such a high rating? Sick!

If you've ever wanted to see Cenk Uygur pretend to be an ex-marine super assassin, this is the movie for you.
The fights are unconvincing, the fight sequences have many obvious plot gaps the size of Alaska (you literally see a guy cover a live grenade with his hat and the only thing to get shredded is his pants).
It wants to be Tarantino, but ends up an inept, poor copy of the genre. Entirely unrealistic, but not in the good Tarantino way, generic and bland. And the main protagonist... sorry, was Danny DeVito unavailable?

Fun, quirky, indie action

I thought this was a quirky fun little film. I love supporting these type of films. Is it a big film? No but you can tell the makers of the film knew what they were doing and did as much as they could with what they were working with.
I thought the fight scenes were put together really well. The fight in the hallway was really fun. I wish it was longer.
I thought the lead guy was pretty good. I haven't seen him before. I like that he looked like a regular guy and nit some muscle bound guy. Regular guys can still fight and look good doing it.
He kind of reminded me of a ethnic Jon Belushi with his expressions and movement.
I really thought the guys playing the idiot brothers were pretty funny.
Of you get these type of films you will really enjoy it. It doesn't take it self too serious.

I think the main actor has a lot of potential. Sure predictable. I just wish that the real bad dude . Was played by crispin glover . I think movies like this should just hire crispin glover. I always wonder what pulp fiction would have been like if crispin glover played travoltas part This movie is just ok. But in the words of Bruce Dickinson more crispin glover.

If you like your action with some outrageous characters, cheesy one liners and over the top fights then look no further. Most independent films take themselves too seriously, focusing on edgy plots or moral messages but this one just has fun. The story is simple and something we have see a million times, but where it stands out is its wit and humor. The characters are all extravagant and zany which just adds to the unique charm. The fights are cool and well done, considering this is an indie. If you want a fun flick with some cool fights and crazy characters give this a shot.

You know what you're in for from the very first scene: 'acting' actors, laughable dialogue, inept stunt coordination, obvious sound stage setting, impossible lighting. Incompetence on every level.
How Bruce Dern - who has been in professional movies - kept a straight face during the filming of the amateur travesty is beyond me. It must have been like watching the Three Stooges set to calliope music.
The plot is... don't worry about it. No one involved in the film did. Suffice it to say you've seen it done better.
This movie appears to exist solely to reap the money from the blatant cigarette placements that infest every scene of the film. Any review above three stars is overly generous, if not compensated. Two stars.

Quality Low Budget Action Flick

I checked this film out on a whim and it was a real treat. It's not the greatest movie of all time but it is for sure one of the best low budget films I've seen in awhile.
The story is very simple but that's also what makes it fun as it chooses a more stylistic approach over a heavy concept. It's less of a morality tale and more of a roller coaster ride, driving you from one scene to the next at break neck speed. Its characters are over the top and intriguing.
Speaking of characters the cast does a great job of bringing them to life. While some performances are definitely stronger than others, the ones that work really work. The stand out for me was the hacker, Auggie played by Jack Griffo. His wit and comedic timing stole every scene he was in. All the characters managed to pull me in and made me care about this over the top world that the filmmakers created.
The fights and the effects were extremely well done, especially for a film of this level. There were areas where you could tell they pushed the limits of their budget but nothing was so off that it took me out of the experience.
Overall it was a fun watch that kept me entertained as long as you're okay with a more "style over substance" type of film. If you're a fan of action and zany characters this give this a shot.

Ray Barren (Robert Miano) runs a casino and is a crime boss. Yuri, the son of the Russian mafia boss Arkadi Dubkova (Bruce Dern) owes Ray money. After being roughed up, Yuri tells Ray where "the case" is located. Ray calls upon former military extraction expert Marcus (Omid Zader) to obtain the case under the watchful eye of the Russians. Things become complicated as Marcus gets frame, his sister is taken, there is a bounty on Marcus, and a lot of crooked cops.
The story has many light moments. The bounty hunters were interesting, But not as zany as "Smokin' Aces." Entertaining film.

Dumb movie. Wooden acting from all but a few. Good fights. But if you view it as the comedy I think they intended - Smokin' Aces on a shoestring budget - it can be more entertaining than many apparently thought. And let's not overlook the performance by the suitcase, which proved to be an ideal Macguffin. Too bad there are no awards for that category. As to the rest of the cast not named Dern or Turturro, don't bother learning a lot of names. You won't be seeing most of them speaking in other films very often.
