I've never reviewed a MacGyver episode, but I felt compelled to after watching this one. I loved it. It had the right amount of angst, joy and no too over the top, unrealistic stuff (as far as international spies go, that is). I loved that they paired Desi & Riley on one side, and Russ & Mac on the other. I know the love triangle we'll be getting at some point will be Mac/Desi/Riley, with Desi & Riley both pining after Mac, but think how interesting and refreshing it would be if they made Desi/Riley happen. That would put a new spin on that love triangle. You can see in this episode particularly how much chemistry they have together, even when they're arguing/giving each other the cold shoulder. But, it's CBS, and I doubt they will go that way, ever.

Considering the shoes that it had to fill it is absolutely fantastic, the fact that Magnum PI is still running and this show isn't because of lenkov's idiocy is a travesty. Pick the right battles people. Until they show became woke it was one of the best on TV. Losing it is a tragedy.

terrible writing started from the beginning

We really looked forward to this season with all the cancellations and pandemic and everything. But they started the season with bad writing and a copy paste episode. Seriously did the crew of the show really wanted to get the show to cancel? Why did they messed up this show this bad. Continuations of a toxic relationship, terrible storyline, trying to get one character which is not the main character to be liked, getting rid of the fan favorite characters and not paying attention to what fans really want to see and in result drop in the ratings.

BAD WRITING with a John wick hotel ripoff and a team building exercise. The wireless hack in the Zurich building has no rogue detection? Seriously a high tech bad guy facility has that turned off? Did anyone else catch the "under the weather" phrase? This show is so stupid for a MacGyver. Just all around bad writing. How many movies can they rip off to make this eps? I counted four. The hostage room is the a holiday room express room. -ha
