After this episode aired, PBS initially decided not to renew Barney & Friends (1992). Larry Rifkin was told that the network felt the 30 episodes already produced were substantial enough to remain in reruns, though he attributed that decision to a change in management. Viewers and various PBS stations strongly objected to the cancellation, to the point that it became a major topic during the PBS Annual Meeting that June. In the end, PBS ultimately reversed their decision and a pledge drive was held to secure funding for the second season.
