Great Show

WWE has always been great at making documentaries, and this series is groundbreaking for them. As soon as the first episode ended I immediately restarted it, it was that good.

So heartfelt, it moved me to tears! #ThankYouTaker [+90%]

It's just wonderful to see the legend up close and personal, telling the story that we never got to hear until now. The lesser known details about his career are brought to light in this extremely well-done documentary. The first episode highlights the build to his Wrestlemania match against Roman Reigns in 2017 - a time Mark Calaway started to feel the pinch (of reality) regarding when he should hang up his boots. Getting intricate insights into The Undertaker's impossible-to-replicate wrestling career spanning three decades, is what this documentary is all about. You get to hear from pretty much everyone Taker's ever worked with in the WWE - about his professionalism, his work etiquette, his never-say-die attitude, and what truly makes him the G.O.A.T. It's a must-see for every wrestling fan, no question about it.

A must watch for every fan of Professional wrestling
gaurishkohli24 May 2020
This docu-series is a muct watch for every WWF/WWE fan, who has watched professional wrestling for decades. This series provides a real and up close persepective of one of the cornerstones of the industry. For somebody like Undertaker who was private and little was known about him this something which is a breath of fresh air and provides the viewers with a sense of excitement which is better than the things which are broadcasted by WWE network.

My childhood superstar left me in tears with this show

One couldn't have ever thought that a documentary show could be made on the life of a Wrestler and that too so fascinating, just like "The Undertaker". It has covered every aspect so beautifully that you can watch it again and again. I literally laughed, cried and towards the end it made me smile. Its a perfect documentary one could ever make on The Undertaker.

This show is all about his injury, aging body, struggle to get back. They showed the real side of the Undertaker. Honestly he is over, but he is trying to perform for the sake of the company. Its a treat for all the Undertaker fans.

A rare behind the scenes look at the one and only undertaker how could it not be amazing right. However amazing doesn't do it justice I've been a fan since his debut I've been a fan and that was 30 years ago he made his infamous entry at survivor series 1990. This is an inside look at an icon every week fan needs to see.

It's kind of boring really
migarsenio18 July 2020
As much as I think that the Undertaker really was one of the best wrestlers of all time, this series shows a very slow-paced and not that interesting portrait of his last years as a performer. It has some good moments, but it also keeps on sweetening the pill concerning WWE. After watching two seasons of "Dark side of the ring", I found it kind of boring and rather long for something that could have been easily told in just one full feature. But they have to create contents for the network, so there it is: 5 hours of a man thinking about wether he should or not go on with his much loved role as a legendary wrestler. Oh, and the Undertaker is for sure the phenom as a performer, but not that interesting as a talker. Let's just face that.

Brilliant from start to finish
Barry_Norman24 June 2020
With all the rave reviews about The Last Dance how about shining some light on The Last Ride.

Just like with Last dance you don't have to be a wrestling fan to appreciate this story about a man who wants to continue in his career but who's battered and broken body wont let him. It's universal in sports and life. and this from a man who has stayed in character for 30 years. Now Mark Calaway speaks and it's an absolute treasure.

The ending is just perfect, it gave me the chills.

This is everything I wanted and more. I love to see Mark happy with his family and to know that he went out on his feet, not his back as is the "thing" in wrestling. He truly made my childhood a happier one and for that, what else can you say? Absolute respect and admiration and I wish him and his family all the best 🖤

Emotional and brilliant
Nerrad8027 June 2020
As a fan of the undertaker since his debut this was amazing to watch! Undertaker has always been a man of mystery, to keep that gimmick and persona going strong for so many years he never really done social media and interviews beyond WWE so to see the man behind the gimmick was an absolute treat. People used to laugh and say "hey WWE is all fake and a soap drama" but what those people don't understand is that guys like the undertaker worked their arses off and sacrificed so much as you will see for yourself in this brilliant documentary. the injuries this guy has suffered over his 30 year career with WWE is shocking! And so much respect for the fact his love for the business kept bringing him back. Was really nice to see behind the scenes and all the WWE stars and staff coming together and respecting each other. You could also see how much love and respect undertakers wife has for him... Just being by his side throughout the entire documentary.

Best documentary made by WWE
kunalnarang1926 June 2020
The undertaker is the best wrestler of all time. There is no doubt about that. This series explores his life, family, struggles, the wrestling business and what goes on behind the scenes. Each and every episode is emotional, riveting and awe-inspiring. Watch out for the last episode, you might just tear up at the end of that one.

A peek behind the curtain
malcolmjohnston27 June 2020
Whether you like wrestling or don't this superb series shows the toll the business takes out of these huge guys physically and mentally No one more than the corner stone of the wwe for nearly 30 years The Undertaker The 5 shows pan across several years showing the pain caused by work and the mental wrenching of being near the end of a glittering career A near obsession with want to give the paying public there pound of flesh Truly classic documentary like it or not and to see sons of billionaire's and giants break down in tears of how much this man has meant to the business

Fake wresters, real steroids
varkeersdh2 March 2022
So sick of wrestling ruining people, all these drug adicts, like Chris Benoit, Hulk Hogan, Dwayne Johnson, take tons of steroids, hgh, testosterone. Losers all of the like most of the losers in Hollywood like Arnold Swarenegher, Marvel losers.

The Dark Side of McMahon
zaid-adham24 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
There's hardly any kid who grew up in the 80s and 90s who wasn't completely immersed in the world of the WWF/E, letting it engage every one of their senses every night it was on TV and every night it wasn't...playing matches on the bed with their pillows as opponents, practicing faces in the mirror and picking out costumes, having school yard debates about the best wrestler or tag team. Building fantasies about kicking every one of the heels' asses.

And watching above all of that was The Undertaker.

I think I was made aware of the kayfabe in the worst way possible. In 1994 the WWF/E made a one-off two-night visit to Dubai, where I used to live, and my cousins and I went to watch as our heroes came out one by one. At the end of the night, I snuck into their hotel and bumped into them all sat on one table having dinner. Ref Earl Hebner saw me, and immediately started screaming and kicking me out. On that night, wrestling died for me.

When the announcement that The Undertaker was to retire I think the first thing that came to mind was "Holy! This guy is still going?!" And the highlight reel of my wrestling-obsessed years immediately started playing in my head. Night after night of watching the scariest man in sports entertainment suddenly came back to memory, and I let that reverie take over.

This documentary isn't easy to watch if you're in your late thirties. Not only does it remind you of days when everything was an exciting exploration, it also fills you with a sense of absolute sadness: your heroes of the past have aged, they're nowhere near the bright, shining faces you left. Shawn Michaels seems to have gone a bit cross-eyed, Triple H sounds like his throat is sponsored by a cigarette company, Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall has plumped up and turned grey.

And watching above all of that was the Undertaker...and that's the saddest part.

You saw in this documentary the frightening giant in his heyday, the fear theatrics he played that made every ten-year-old like me lose sleep at night. Between the Undertakers undertakings...heh...Mark Calaway sits in obvious pain on his seat, the gentlest soul you will ever see. It's heart warming the way he narrates his own life amidst the jolting edits, interjected every now and then by his peers. And yet, as the episodes keep going, you notice yourself observing his fraying emotions and paying more attention to how much his body aged: the receding hairline, the beer belly, the sagging pecs, and the exaggerated eye rolls and tongue flicks that once spelled true fear...now just playing for gimmicks. That last one hurts the most, because Calaway at the beginning of the series dreads the day he becomes a parody of himself, not realizing some people long-since detached from the wrestling universe already see it.

And between the goosebumps and the shivers down your spine, you're overwhelmed with sadness. In your head, you've got one hand over your mouth in shock, pleading for him to quit damaging himself. You realize how dedicated he is, how loyal he is to his passion, how much his work means to him....means enough to destroy his body several times over, approximately 17 major surgeries worth. And throughout the entire series there's one word that resonates above all to a nauseating point...

"Business."

Mark Calaway is the Undertaker is Mark Calaway. He is a man of passion, of action, of determination. He loves and is loved, respects and is respected. Fans and wrestlers both prostrate before him equally. He wants them just as much as they want him. Wrestling is his livelihood.

And watching above all of that was Vince McMahon. Because, after all said and done, this is a business.

McMahon is a bona fide business man: cunning, resourceful, experienced, and at once both caring and cruel. You can't help but notice how many times Undertaker wrestled with the voices in his own head about quitting and dedicating the rest of his time and health to himself and his family...only for him to say that his love for the game stops him..."then I get a call from Vince." And you feel even more sorry for the Undertaker, because there's that nagging feeling he's being used. McMahon knows just how loyal Mark Calaway is to the Undertaker, and so ensures that both Calaway and Undertaker are loyal to McMahon. A vicious cycle in more than one way. At some point in time during this series, once you hear the words "got a call from Vince" I guarantee you you'll be equally sad and angry. They say they're friends, but Undertaker to an objective audience will feel like McMahon's lapdog, like Vader to Palpatine. It's just a testament to how Vince McMahon defines "human resources."

I would have preferred it if this documentary wasn't produced by the WWE, because while the feelings are genuine, anyone who knows Vince McMahon knows how much his life is symbiotic to drama. I would believe anyone in the world with any statement, but it's difficult after years of observing the progress of the WWE trusting a single word, gesture, or body language Vince McMahon expresses. There was a point in the documentary that the interviewer asks him what the Undertaker means to him as a friend, only for his lips to wobble and eyes well up. He gestures 'cut' to the camera and says he can't answer that question. For me, and knowing McMahon's history, that was the least genuine moment in this entire production.

Watch this for the nostalgia, for the pride, for the excitement, for days of yore made fresh in your eyes once more. Watch this for the Undertaker, but more than anything else, watch this for Mark Calaway. I could only wish I could knock on his door in Austin and say "Mr. Calaway, I've never met a more genuinely lovable person," then give him a hug and run away into the distance.

But don't, just don't let Vince McMahon give you the address.

Schizophrenic
velikitata11 August 2020
I really loved this. Its everything but a simple documentary. I'm fighting with my inner demons for 5 years now, depression, getting old, not accepting the truth..There is no bigger enemy than our own alter ego. It's kind of schizophrenic and unreal.
