Disney will invest $1.5 billion to acquire an equity stake in Epic Games alongside a multiyear collaboration on a new games and entertainment universe focused on Fortnite to expand the reach of Disney stories and experiences.
“In addition to being a world-class games experience and interoperating with Fortnite, the new universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more,” said a press release announcing the news. “Players, gamers and fans will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love.”

As streamers like Netflix and Disney look to scale their ad-supported tiers, a new survey from Samba TV and Harris X reveals that millennials are more open to using the AVOD offerings than other generations.
“Millennials are the generation that grew up on cable and were first to cut the cord, and have revealed themselves to be a core audience on AVOD and Fast platforms,” Samba TV co-founder and CEO Ashwin Navin said in a statement. “Their willingness to consume ads when streaming is a unique opportunity for advertisers to reach more than 20% of the US population, with more spending power than retiring baby boomers. By embracing an omniscreen strategy that addresses all the platforms where millennials consume video, advertisers can align their campaigns to connect with this hugely impactful audience.”
The U.S. population includes 72.2 million millennials, who have an annual spending power of over $2.5 trillion, according to Samba and Harris.

Generational divides seem to be present in just about every facet of society these days. One age group has been conditioned to do things differently than the next, and that holds just as true between Millennials and Baby Boomers as it does between Millennials and Gen Zers.
This is true of streaming habits as well, according to Publisher’s Clearing House. Pch has just released a new study on American streaming consumers, and it shows that a generational divide has indeed occurred in that market segment.
To start with, Pch’s survey indicates that younger viewers between 18 and 44 years old are more likely to binge-watch a series if possible. Conversely, users 45 and up who are more accustomed to watching episodes on a weekly release schedule are more likely to decide on a show-by-show basis whether they’ll be binging or watching on a more staggered schedule.

Millennials continues this Thursday with the fifth episode of its thrilling freshman season.
In a new exclusive clip of the Allblk original series, Omar finds himself in an intense situation when he realizes that he's falling for his roommate's sister.
The clip shows Omar opening up about it, and it features the signature comedy that has become synonymous with the show.
It's clear Omar has strong feelings for Lauren, but he crumbles when it comes to telling Travis anything about it.
Instead, Omar confides in one of his friends, but the scene is interrupted when Travis walks in the room, leaving us on quite the cliffhanger as we wait to find out what happens next.
Here's the logline for the episode:
Travis' sister, Lauren comes for a visit and crushes hard on Omar. Travis sends a clear message that his sister is off limits, but Omar somehow finds himself in a romantic entanglement.

Is Todd about to have a child after a one night stand?
That's the big question in this exclusive clip from Allblk's comedy series Millennials.
The clip finds Todd confiding in Bernie, who says the following after hearing Todd's concern.
"The Wap has made you a Pop.”
It's a comical scene (below) and one that perfectly showcases this relatively new comedy series.
The six-episode series features Omar (Kyle Massey), a straight-laced business student with dreams of taking over the corporate world, urging his goofball friends Jaheem (Keraun "King Keraun" Harris), a personal trainer; Travis (Philip Bolden), an insecure YouTuber; and college dropout Todd (Aaron Grady) to get their acts together.
In each episode, the friends' schemes and antics make it abundantly clear that none of them have it all figured out-- except maybe, their hardworking neighbor Mercedes (Teresa "Topnotch" Celeste), an aspiring actress from Atlanta who often serves as...

AMC Networks is in the midst of rebranding Umc, or Urban Movie Network, the SVOD service founded by BET founder Robert L. Johnson in February of 2015. Now titled Allblk, the streaming platform features “urban-themed” series and movies, including the channel’s library of live stand-up performances by Kevin Hart, Jamie Foxx and Charlie Murphy, as well documentary films, reality series and stage plays. A direct competitor to the more recognizable BET+, chief content officer Brett Dismuke is hoping a new slate of original programming will help position Allblk as the “premiere streaming destination for black creators and storytellers.”
Speaking to the virtual Ctam Winter 2021 Press Tour on Thursday, Dismuke said he hoped a renewed industry support for Black creatives and stories would usher in renewed excitement for Allblk. “While we’ve updated our brand, what remains unwavering is our commitment to representation and identifying new and emerging talent both in...

The updated animated versions, which aired in the U.K. back in September, will get their U.S. debut on BBC America on Sunday, March 21.
The announcement came along with a slew of other new premiere dates for AMC’s various networks and streaming platforms, including BBC America, IFC, the flagship AMC linear network, Shudder and Acorn TV.

Umc, the AMC Networks-owned streaming service focused on Black TV and film, will rebrand as Allblk in January.
The new name and look comes on the heels of a corporate realignment of the service. Last week, AMC Networks shifted it under the aegis of Gm Brett Dismuke along with linear network We tv.
Robert L. Johnson, the businessman known for founding BET, created Umc (short for Urban Movie Channel) in 2014. Johnson’s Rlj Entertainment, which also had streaming assets like Acorn TV, was acquired by AMC Networks in 2018.
“Umc began as a distribution model for Black creatives to directly reach the then largely underserved African-American audience without the restrictions of legacy content development and traditional broadcast models,” Johnson said in a statement. “As technology advances and programming demands from our community evolve, the rebranded Allblk will be well positioned to breakout as the preeminent streaming destination for viewers seeking Black entertainment.
