For Seoulites
kimkegaard10 May 2009
I can see this movie being more effectively engaging to Seoulites than others because of the everyday-life-in-Seoul setting and also the slangs the characters use. I can't possible see translation conveying the connotations in the dialogues.

But if you are a Seoulite, you'll truly appreciate this movie. You'll savor little subtleties of everyday life in subway, district office, girls high school, and small uphill neighborhood apartments. This movie is all about savoring these little things. There is nothing new. But, when's the last time you watched a genuinely simple, quietly enchanting movie?

Even if you have read the comic book, you'll like this one. I read the comic book first, too, but I liked this movie a lot. The same essence is still there.

Done before despite the age gap thing, but well executed

Okay so just about everything in this romantic genre style movie has been done before in many Korean movies and dramas, despite the age gap thing, but it's executed very well to the point it is actually effective. None of the actors or actress pulls anything mind blowing or anything, but that really didn't matter with the flow of the film and Chae Jeong-An is beautiful as always, I couldn't take my eyes off of her. And although the relationship between a 18 yr old high school girl and a 30 yr old man may seems a bit iffy at first, but as the film progresses the approach seems to work. So basically, it's plot is basically about two couples that happen to fall in love with people from different age groups. But it is very well executed, you can't help but find it enjoyable and charming at times. Although it can be a bit slow at times, but when it's finished you can't help but feel that you actually liked it. But maybe that is cause of Chae Jeong-An for me haha.

I absolutely loved this movie.

This is one of the rare movie I really enjoyed watching. It doesn't have over the top dramatic scenes or story. The story is very simple thus I will not comment on it, as I believe it will ruin it for you. It is very unconventional romantic movie which I found it to be quite unique. Also the way it was told and acted felt real to me.

It is one of those movie which inspires you to be different, makes you think about giving life a go, not to give up in life & love, and makes you think that you are not alone in this world, that we all need that someone special in our life who pushes us to be more then what we are. Puts meaning to every heartbeat, after all wouldn't it be sad to just follow the same routine, law, behaviour etc laid out for you by society, family so on? This movie questions those beliefs and makes you think are you alive or just a person among 6 billion living a scheduled, structured life.

Excuse my above paragraph, it is just what I thought immediately after I finished watching this movie. It truly inspired me. This movie may not be for everyone certainly not for impatient people. The movie is slow paced but this is what makes it so great, well at list to me as life sometimes is also slow paced.

If you have come this far reading my review I truly recommended it to you. But don't hate me if you don't like it, and demand your last two hours of your life back, because I cannot give it to you as I am not god! But I offer my heartfelt sincere apologies.

could have done better

I am not going to recommend this movie to anyone. The movie progresses very slowly. There is no strong plot only a simple love story dragged for 113 minutes. Yeon-woo is awkward throughout the movie. He actually makes you sick and feel pathetic! There should have been a better end for Sook. Once Yeon-woo found out that Ha-gyeong's ex-boyfriend was the old couples dead son, there should have been something interesting done by him. After that moment the movie just runs.I got tired watching the first part but watched the other half just to kill time. There could have been a far better love story for an 18-years old girl and 30-years old guy. A little more feelings, moving scenes and a better plot would have made it a 8/10 at least!
