Learn more- Siblings, Edward age 37 and Vicky Collins age 39, are the last remaining member of the Collins family. Both their parents have passed away, their mother Carolyn about 3 years ago from cancer and their father Robert about 8 years ago of natural causes. Vicky the oldest of the two siblings, is a quadriplegic, after having a drunk driver collide into the vehicle, she was riding in about 6 years ago. Her spinal cord was severely injured from that accident, leaving her with little to no movement in her body, she has limited finger movement in her left hand, which fortunately, allows her to navigate in her electric powered wheelchair around the house on her own. After her accident, Vicky lived with her retired mother, Carolyn in her condo, her mother was also her primary caregiver up until her death about 3 years. Nearing, Carolyn's death, Vicky's brother Edward took over most and all of her duties as a caregiver for Vicky after their mothers' death. Taking Vicky to doctor's appointments, shopping, bathing her, preparing meals, waking the dog, paying bills, home chores, taking her to places she likes to visit, make sure everything works around the house, etc. Edward the loving little brother wants the best comfort and care for Vicky and has been at her beck and call ever since taking over for their mom as caregiver. Edward has been married for about 9 years and has two kids, one 10 and a 7-year-old, he also runs the families commercial Sign business started by their mother and father. Their commercial Sign business is the primary source of income for Edward, his family and Vicky. Vicky unable to work since the accident, has past due medical bills and other ongoing expenses piling up. As for Edward the stress of running the family's business, being a father, a husband, and taking care of his sister is extremely overwhelming for Edward and is starting to take a toll his relationship and time spent with his family. Edward, having power of attorney over his sister and their assets, decides to sell their mothers condo, and also reluctantly decides to place his sister into a professional care facility for quadriplegics, to reduce stress on him, his family and to ensure that his sister receives the best care. After making this decision and multiple visits to the care facility, Edward presents the news by leaving pamphlets from the care facility laid out on the dinner table visible for his sister to see, a few hours prior to making Vicky's dinner, to prepare her for the news. Vicky sees pamphlets at the dinner table while Edward is in the kitchen preparing and staring to bring her food to the dinner table. Edward hears here reading them and sadly, delivers his plan to Vicky. Vicky starts to get upset and cries while adamantly giving Edward reasons why she does not want to go at the same time Edward gives his reasons why going would be good for them both.
