- TriviaThe episode 'Frowning Friends' had a very troubled production and was the last to be finished, which resulted in several humorous oddities such as Mr. Man's head shifting into D.J. Spit's head at the end of his scene as the creators couldn't figure out how to end the scene and the Renaissance Men were a very late addition as a way to kill off Grim and Gnarly. Also, D.J. Spit was originally going to have visible pubic hair due to his low pants, but this was erased by the censors in the broadcast version. Zach Hadel said that if he had the time to figure out who had censored the hair, he would have credited them as 'digital pube remover' in the episode's credits.

It's random, insane, and full of heart
I've been a fan of Zach Hadel for years, since psychicpebbles started. While Hellbenders never got off the ground, I'm glad he finally got a show on tv. Being 11 minutes an episode and on adult swim none of his idiosyncrasies have been smoothed out for a network, it's clearly his and Michael's humor.
But what makes this stand out besides for it just being extremely creative and funny is that it isn't mean spirited like so many adult animated cartoons.
Sure the jokes can be messed up or grotesque at times, but the universe it takes place in seems to be legitmately optimistic. Many shows can do those things well but it's nice to see something unique and creator driven that is also upbeat.
