- Every human asks: who am I? What is my purpose? The answers are in the sustaining allegories of myths from human history. Mythic Journeys reveals how those myths can transform lives into journeys.
- An inventive fusion of documentary, story, artwork and animation. Despite the fact that myth has always existed, surprisingly few people today are aware of even the classic myths or the potential myths have to impact their lives. Myths are the reservoir of human wisdom - the story and the meaning of life. Every human being has asked the questions who am I, what is my purpose, why am I here? The answers are in the myths that have been passed on from generation to generation. Mythology is a tool that can bridge cultures, communities and generations. Through this film we hope to inspire people to activism and show that by helping others we ultimately help ourselves. There is a saying, "Love without action is meaningless, but action without love is irrelevant." It's time to act, it's time to evolve. We are the ancestors of the future. Thousands of years from now we are going to be those handprints on the cave walls. And people will look back and say those were our ancestors; what did they do? They say they lived their lives to the fullest. So, it doesn't matter how we die, it only matters how we live. Every life is a story and that story can change the world.—Steven Boe
- Building from Joseph Campbell's work on "The Power of Myth", filmmakers Steven & Whitney Boe have created a unique documentary blending stop-motion animation with interviews with some of the most mindful, philosophical individuals of our time. Myths are a reservoir of human wisdom, so the film focuses on mythology - its relevance to man's history and religions, what does mythology tell us, is it still relevant today - and begins to investigate mythology on a very personal level . . . that is, what is the story I tell about myself, how do I perceive myself, and how do I fit my story into the collective whole. The stop-motion animation work has a brooding yet winsome appeal, much like Tim Burton's work, while the storyline tells its own mythic tale. The philosophers speak on the powers of myth, how we use mythology, and how mythology can bridge cultures and generations and help build global unity.
