When you think of post-credits scenes, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since the House of Ideas started putting them at the end of their movies in 2008 to tease whatever they had in store next, many other movies (mostly ones with superheroes in them) have followed suit and they've become trademarks of the genre at this point.
However, post-credits scenes aren't that new. "The Silencers" featured one in 1966. John Hughes utilized them in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." And who can forget Animal's lovely send-off at the end of "The Muppets Movie"? So when it comes to Kevin Smith's "Clerks III," does the New Jersey native follow in the footsteps of some classic comedies that came before him?
Well, the answer to that is a little complicated. To address the question in this article's title directly, no, there...

Ciro Guerra’s poetic – and shocking – drama about marijuana trafficking in Colombia digs deep into the culture of the indigenous people involved
Ciro Guerra’s earlier film Embrace of the Serpent from 2015 was an audacious journey into Colombia’s dark interior, figurative and literal, a jungle full of Kurtzian fear. Now he has entered into a fascinating auteur collaboration with his longtime producer Cristina Gallego to create this really startling and intriguing movie, which was Colombia’s shortlisted entry for best foreign film in this year’s Academy Awards. It grafts quasi-ethnographic docu-drama on to druglord turf war epic, mixing professional and nonprofessional actors. This is film-making that really does push at the limits of storytelling and generic templates, and it’s brimming with images and ideas.
Taking place over a timespan of about 20 years, from the 1960s to the 80s, Birds of Passage is a poetic re-imagining of the...

“Birds of Passage” starts in 1968 and encompasses a dozen years of violent upheaval in the northern Colombian desert, chronicling the rise and fall of a drug dealer and his family; the desert, however, turns out just fine. “Embrace of the Serpent” director Ciro Guerra’s latest surreal drama, co-directed by “Serpent” producer Cristina Gallego, once against pits the dying rituals of a remote tribe against the striking ambivalence of nature — this time, using the backdrop to explore the origins of the drug trade. While it never reaches the psychedelic heights of Guerra’s previous effort and relies on a more conventional pattern of events, “Birds of Passage” delivers another fascinating tone poem about Colombia’s fractured identity.
The narrative is structure around five chapters, labeled as “Songs,” much like the discordant melodies heard throughout: Wild Grass, The Graves, Prosperity, The War, and Limbo. Each installment takes place within the confines of the Wayyu people,...

Brian Pulido, creator of the comic Lady Death and the feature film The Graves, is set to appear on Syfy’s "Foxy and Co.," a reality show showcasing the special effects makeup work of "Face Off" favorite Eric Fox and his team, tonight, March 18th, at 10Pm.
For the show Pulido directed a proof of concept short film entitled Zack the Zombie Exterminator, a horror/comedy about Zack Zander, an amiable redneck metal head with a talent for zombie-splatting who runs “Z-Gone", a family business that “disposes” of the undead.
Pulido and screenwriter Mike MacLean (Sharktopus, Piranhaconda) developed Zack for multiple entertainment platforms.
Simply stated, Zack the Zombie Exterminator puts the fun back into zombie-splatting. Zack is a gross-out spectacle full of zombie guts and exploding brains. It’s slapstick Wtf humor, cringe-worthy and cathartic, and what better guy to fulfill this mad vision than Morbx Fx’s Eric Fox,...

I recently had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with the lovely Amanda Wyss from A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). You might not know her name but you will definitely recognize her from the role of “Tina” in that film. She has the pleasure of being known as Freddy Krueger’s very first murder victim.
Amanda has worked extensively in film and Television with some of her more well-known films being Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), Silverado (1985), and Better Off Dead (1985). Her genre roles include the vampire thriller To Die For (1988), Shakma (1990), Black Magic Woman (1991), To Die For 2 (1991), and The Graves (2009).
Amanda has had over 50 Television appearances in everything from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1981), St. Elsewhere (1985), Cagney & Lacey (1986), Quantum Leap (1991), Dexter (2006), CSI (2011), and many more.

Post-production has officially wrapped on the new psychological thriller, Visible Scars, starring Tom Sizemore, Jillian Murray (Never Back Down 2, The Graves) and Hannah Hall (Rob Zombie's Halloween).
Written and directed by Richard Turke, with cinematography by Jacques Haitkin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 1 & 2, Wishmaster), the film tells the story of Stacy Walker (Jillian Murray), a young woman who flees to her late uncle’s cabin to escape her abusive boyfriend, only to begin having gruesome visions and hearing voices from the surrounding forest.

Nothing could be creepier than waking up in the middle of night to a partially nude Bill Moseley. The latest trailer for Kejo Production's and Vision Entertainment's Rogue River scares viewers with more than just that, however. Characters Jon (Moseley) and Lea (Lucinda Jenney) terrorize a grief stricken Mara (Michelle Page) morning, noon and night. Lea and Jon remove clothes and wigs to shock audiences and to make Mara wish she had parked her car somewhere else, somewhere much farther away from Oregon's beautiful Rogue River.
Have a look at the newest film poster for Rogue River, which has added some details since the original, posted here (Rogue River Original Film Art). As well, Dread Central has debuted a much fuller trailer for this horror thriller, which shows more of actress Michelle Page and too much of Moseley. The film clip is below.

Teen horror movies may be a dime a dozen, but after watching the trailer for Forget Me Not, I have no problem saying I'd be willing to shell out a dozen dimes or so to watch it. Better start saving up your dimes because Forget Me Not will be arriving on DVD shelves in May.
The supernatural tweener terror stars the likes of Carly Schroeder ("Lizzy McGuire"), Cody Linley ("Hannah Montana), Chloe Bridges (Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam), and Jillian Murray (The Graves). Comedy Central and Adam Green’s ArieScope Pictures are teaming for a new digital series (these have been getting really popular now, huh?) called Sexy Nightmare Slayers. Rileah Vanderbilt (Frozen) and Clare Grant (The Graves) are our two sexy slayers as they protect children from a variety of monsters. The first episode is directed by Adam Green and will premiere on Atom.com, March 7th.
“It’s no secret that I love doing web videos so when Atom.com approached us to do something, we were very excited to work with them,” Green told Dread Central. “We have come up with something that is kind of like Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Evil Dead II. We had total creative control so you’re going to be seeing stories filled with hot chicks, cool monsters, and lots and lots of monster goo.”...

If you actually ventured past your multiplex and watched horror films other then the uninspired "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake, the strictly putting it in 3D for the money "My Soul to Take", the pointless remake of Let The Right One In entitled "Let Me In", the lifeless remake of "The Crazies" and other mostly bland mainstream horror releases that made up 2010, you would discover a wonderful world of indie horror films that stood out. George A. Romero showed that he's still got it with Survival of the Dead. Comedy and horror were brought together seamlessly (for once!) in President's Day & All About Evil. And plenty of other terrific independent films stood out. However, it wasn't all rosy for the independent horror films of 2010, as they also produced some highly publicized stinkers or films that finally came off the shelf after gathering dust for years. Still, for once, 2010 had...

Okay, so this week we have covered the "Top Five Indie Horror Films," with an article found here: Best Indie Horror Films of 2010. Also covered was the "Top Five International Horror Films." An article on this posting is here: Top Five International Films. But, now we are exploring a more depraved side of horror, or a lower class of film. This top five list will cover the "Worst Five Horror Films of 2010!"
This year, there was so much to choose from in poor horror films. Abroad, we have the dismal Basement starring Danny Dyer and Jimi Mistry to the absolutely monstrosity of a film from Australia called Outback aka Prey starring the incapable Natalie Bassingthwaighte. Domestically, films like the Zombie Chronicles: The Infected made this reviewer want to scratch his eyes out, while others like Apocalypse of the Dead aka Zone of the Dead made one reach for the off button with lightening like reflexes.

Dread Central have revealed some rather gory, and rather intriuging new images from The Frankenstein Syndrome (aka The Prometheus Project), the latest movie from one of my favourite scream-queens, Tiffany Shepis. DC also revealed that the film – which is directed by Sean Tretta and stars Shepis, along with Scott Anthony Leet, Louis Mandylor, and Ed Lauter – has been picked up for Us distribution by American World Pictures.

Despite opposition from the project leaders Marcus Grone (Louis Mandylor, My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and Dr. Victoria Travelle (Patti Tindall, The Graves), she quickly develops a serum that can bring the dead back to life – but with horrific results. It’s not often we write articles about award-winning performers here on Dread Central, which makes this all the more exciting for yours truly. This past weekend Deon Taylor (Dead Tone, Chain Letter) invited Dread Central exclusively out to his set in Los Angeles to give us a look at the revamping of his Night Tales (previously Nite Tales) brand of horror.
Previously hosted by everyone’s favorite hip-hop hype man Flavor Flav, the new Night Tales will be hosted by Stacey Dash (Clueless) as a vampiress, demonstrating a new, serious and sexy direction for both the television series as well as the feature film.
In addition to the new direction of Night Tales, Taylor also introduced us to his brand new producing partner, Oscar and Grammy Award winner Jamie Foxx. The collaboration marks Foxx’s first true foray into the horror genre, something that excites the renowned actor greatly.

Seth Green and Clare Grant have made their relationship official. The pair walked down the aisle on Saturday, May 1. The ceremony took place at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch in Northern California, reports said.
Confirming the happy news, Seth's musician/actor friend Al Yankovic tweeted, "Just watched my buddy Seth Green get married. Beautiful wedding. Much love to him and his lovely bride Clare." However, Radar Online claimed the wedding was held on Sunday afternoon, May 2.
Seth and Clare met in 2008 and they became engaged earlier this year. The funnyman reportedly popped the question to the "The Graves" star on last New Year's Eve. However, it was not until February that the "Old Dogs" actor confirmed the engagement.

Whilst it may sound like just another hillbilly horror, “The Graves” does at least have one point of interest in having Brian Pulido at the helm, better known as the creator of Chaos Comics, and the writer of such classics as “Lady Death” and “Evil Ernie”. The film also stands out somewhat from the increasingly crowded subgenre playing field thanks to a promising cast of fan favourites, including Bill Mosley, Tony Todd, and even Amanda Wyss, who older viewers may remember from way back in 1984 as the unfortunate Tina from the original “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. Having gone down well at La’s After Dark Horrorfest in 2010, the film now arrives on region 2 DVD via Anchor Bay, coming complete with a number of extras, including audio commentary from Pulido and various behind the scenes featurettes and blooper reels. The plot might politely be described as nothing new – the busty,...

Maybe forever to be known as Candyman… Tony Todd is one busy mofo. I think he’s got Clifton Powell beat for the hardest working man crown. Dude has 17 different projects at some stage of development, scheduled to be released this year alone, most of which will never be seen by the average film goer… like this one, a horror/thriller called The Graves, which will be on DVD May 31st.

Ride With The Devil (Criterion) Ang Lee’s revisionist take on the Civil War is awash in moral ambiguity, along with some stunning cinematography, production design, and fine performances. Set during the Kansas-Missouri border war, Tobey Maguire and Skeet Ulrich star as two friends who join up with the Confederate-sympathizing Bushwhackers, finding an odd ally in a former slave (Jeffrey Wright). While it’s fascinating to see America’s bloodiest conflict through the eyes of a foreigner, thereby allowing much of the previously mentioned ambiguity a certain latitude, the film never loses the bad taste it leaves for one simple reason: it asks us, the audience, to side with not just the Confederates, but some of the lowest trash that made up the dregs, and the fringes, of the movement. Big points for audacity, but snake eyes on the story itself. Singer Jewel is impressive in her film debut.
