Same strengths and the same exact flaws as Rangitharanga

Vikrant Rona could have been a great thriller. But it falls quite short. Set design, art direction, cinematography, and of course, Sudeep's acting are all pretty brilliant. The main core of the story is also not bad. Where it fails is in the execution.

We get to revisit Kamarottu again. You will be pumped up at the beginning. But then it devolves pretty quickly. The climax is much better than the rest of the movie though.

The things that went wrong with the movie are-

1) Romance: This kills the movie singlehandedly. It's slow, uninteresting, too long, bores the heck out of you by killing the main story's momentum a thousand times.

2) Songs: They are ok-ish, but every one of them feels out of place and unnecessary.

3) The movie's characters and their mannerisms are hyper-urban and their conversations use too much of fine English/Hindi for a story set in the middle of a place like Kamarottu. I hated this in Rangitharanga and hated it even more in VR. (Sudeep/Anup can learn a thing or two on this aspect by watching movies of Rakshith/Rishabh/Raj Shetty.)

4) One of the climax's big reveals can be seen right away in the beginning. The director's attempts to hide it becomes annoyingly way too obvious.

5) The small things that further degrade the movie are the cheap jump scares, terrible jokes, cliched horror-movie scenes, forgettable dialogues, poor acting by Nirup Bhandari, and too much of melodrama.

Despite all these negatives, the movie has some great moments, and they show the potential of the director. I hope he does a better job in his future ventures.

One time watch movie . Well tried attempt by the writer dorector and the cast and crew.... Story and characters needed more than what is shown... good luck but any other even slightly better movie has a fair chance of kicking this movie off the screens..on to the OTT.

Sudeep shines bright in a dull movie

I had very huge expectations from this film but lets down in every way.. Negatives:-Soo many plothiles missing in the story and there is absolutely no professionalism in Anup Bhandari's work this time out.. He had nothing new to offer from his side..neither to script nor to direction.

Poor ripoff of rangitaranga, with very similar villain and very similar climax ((((SPOILER :- I SHOULD SAY XACT SAME CLIMAX .. JUST LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT WAY OF GETTING THERE )))).

I was really pinning my hopes on the movie having a fresh concept sm based on phantom or a new hero but this is rangitaranga copy paste ...ABSOLUTELY DISSAPPOINTED... Another problem is there is no proper continuity in the story and dialogues are not given enough time for audience to connect. No ones dialogue delivery is upto the mark apart from Baadshah . Its just one dialogue after another with no connection to film..And most of the dialogues are not even required. Movie places comedy here and there which works averagely well but there is very quick transition from comedy mode to serious mode which again really fails to make audience connect..it has not been clear cut or well planned...they just piled one scene after another without giving it a structure and drew soooo sooooo many substories and a useless love story ,mother son story, which is there only to add to the unwanted 90s melodrama. Also chikkibombe song is complete bs. Illogically placed .

Jacqueline should hv had a stronger role. Rn they just used her as a bait for hindi audience. Also the script is soo diluted with unwanted dialogues and chenistry that we dont connect with main story. Had the movie been crisp and tight it would have definitly had a better impact. As an editor i can easily cut 40-50 minutes of this movie as they had no impact whatsoever. Also the story has lot of jumps like Eg:- sudeep is investigating sm jump to sudeep making daughter sleep jump to nirup and neetha investigating jump to sudeep finding new body jump to nirup neetha love story and bs. No proper connection point. KGF for example completly nailed this type of execution but anup bhandari screwed it up. As a Kichcha Sudeep fan I am sorry to say really dissappointed yaar...

Positives:- Cinematography and Visuals- i need not even say it. We all know how mindblowingly cool the trailer looked and the movie does not fall short. Though as a movie its not gr8 the cinematography can really be seen as a huge milestone for indian cinema. 95 Crores and the world they have created is absolutely surprising.

Confusing Storyline :- Many people are deeming this as a negative but i was actually intrigued by the way they were setting up more and more people as a potential villain. It really makes you think but anyone who has seen rangitaranga can crack it in the first 30 minutes...but r sure to keave their head scratichung at the interval only to prove u were right all along in climax ....

BGM Score :- TOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD !!!! Hats off to Ajaneesh.. the bgm is sooo good that at times u feel like the bgm is not made for movie but movie is made for bgm.

BAADSHAH KICHCHA SUDEEP:-I dont even need to say anything..Sudeep is way too good for this movie.

I should say the only reason I was able to find the movie atleast endurable was sudeep. That cigar , The jacket and that whip. Just woooow..for his style snd attitude.

Overall 2/5..firm watch for hardcore kichcha fans but others can just go to see stunning visuals.

Expect the unexpected

Booked 1st day 1st show ticket, had expectations of thriller adventure, but Bang Bang Bang the devil just sang Dead man's Anthem... ultimate plot twists...Its a mixture of everything - adventure, fights, horror, action and most importantly BGM, direction and cinematography...they just stand top... Honestly This film cannot be compared with KGF chapters and RRR...it entirely different in terms of story and making...It has its own appealing content...In this film you won't see any single character boost.... there are multiple character boosts....1st half story pick up with amazing interval...2nf half just play's with your mind.... amazing and proud of this film...As said expect the unexpected 🔥

2nd half is the movie

All my stars are for the 2nd half & climax.

The 1st half drags with unnecessary songs, heroism & some useless character /actors J . Fernandes being one of them.

Imagine a shorter 1hr 50 mins with a tight script would have made a gem.

Rangitaranga was better not the best due the same reasons.

The 2nd half justifies the 1st even though many unnecessary elements could have been avoided.

Acting is good, photography , art direction looks decent but action seems too over the top. 3D release is just a gimmick.

Watch it in theatres in 3D!

Sudeep shows his brilliance on the screen yet again - Justifies his title of Abhinaya Chakravarthy. The entire theatre erupts with craze during Ra Ra Rakkamma song. Worth watching it in theatres especially in 3D. Don't miss it!

I Was very curious about the movie but the movie disappointed me, the story looks like just a alteration of rangitharanga, didn't expect this from anup , how they thought it would work as pan india i dont know.

This film is way ahead of it's time,i am sure it will rule in overseas,but most of the Indian audience are addicted to mass commercial movies,who will not get this epic masterpiece, #KichchaSudeep acting in this film is one of the all time best,he acted soul out of him,he is like a Indiana Jones mixed with sharlock homles #AnupBhandari did a promising direction and screenplay,he has crafted this film very well.

For me this movie is an art and a pure craftsmanship.

Rangetaranga with big budget

This is upgraded version of rangitaranga with little different tadka .... Nice screenplay and cinematography.... Those who have not watched rangitaranga will love it.... This will be winning horse in other states.

Remarkable visuals but weak narrative!

As far as its visual aesthetics and sound design is concerned; the movie set a new standard for all the regional industries around. The massive sets, the gorgeous color grading, and the art direction, in general, have valiantly put forth an immaculate display that ostensibly had both style and significance! Sadly, the same set of remarks does not seem to apply to the script!

The sort of grace they effortlessly conveyed through their graphical presentation is missing in their Writing counterpart. While the narrative tends to get pretty gloomy and ambitious with its somewhat serious tonality, the 'supposed' twists and turns, however, fail to create a lasting impact.

Despite having a bunch of known faces in the ensemble, almost all the characters come off as premature, and underdeveloped. With the sole exception of our lead protagonist, Vikrant Rona, played by an ever charismatic Kichcha Sudeepa who with his incessant appeal more than makes up for the apparent inadequacies.

It's certainly a step in the right direction as well as a big leap for the Kannada Industry, but still, they have a long way to go, and lots of hurdles to overcome.

The movie is a good entertainer.

All scenes are majorly of jungle theme.

Good fighting sequences which i mean to say the videography while filming the sequences.

Story line is good and suspenseful.

Acting was good. Some overdid but many performed well.

Not much of a South Indian watcher, there are plot holes on very numerous occasions.

But as I said, the movie is a good pop corn watch.

Was shot and available in 3D, so it felt more nice.

Don't go by the high rating of the film. The marketing team is spending a lot of money to get the IMDB ratings and reviews better. But the film is worse than a disaster. Even Sudeep who holds us with his charm, fails in this fiasco. The worst enemy of the film is the stupid writing. Any amateur 3rd grader would probably spin a better yarn. Kamarottu's visuals are stunning, no doubt. But the direction, writing is the worst. Acting is just okay.

Easily one of the best thriller in recent time with a perfect mix of adventure, fantasy and horror backdrop. Top notch making, Background scoring, Quality VFX, 3D Effects and a decent last min twist elevated the film.

Excellent Making, Good Content. But movie would have been much better if only The Hero himself was absent. There was no need for that Police Officer. And Movie should have titled as Rangitaranga-2. Director focused on the hero more than the main story. So disappointed. But gives you a feel of watching Hollywood movie.

Had a lot of expectations on Vikrant Rona, and went with same but did it reach my expectations?

First and foremost kudos to Anup Bhandari, except 2-3 scenes, most of the scenes were engaging, Abhinaya Chakravarthy a title been redefined. Movie hooked me up till the end, curious to know what's happening next was throughout the movie, my own predictions on killer (ps: none worked ) .

Few extra scenes were added just to confuse audience which didn't work to name some, Rain jacket fight(Had more expectations), Smuggling story didn't make sense to story line. 2 Songs were okish.

Last 20 min of epic twists along side Background score⚡

And yes it is a good watch with Bundle to emotions and thrill elements A perfect family movie for a weekend.

Beautiful Location

Anup Bhandari's dark fantasy adventure is a brave attempt. It's atmospheric as well. Not many Indian films have dared to dabble in this genre before. However, the director struggles to find a direction and specificity to his story. It starts off like a children's fable, then moves to being a supernatural-horror thriller, then a mystery, and a western. It tries to be a lot of things. The story lacks a proper timeline as well. The first half wanders aimlessly and drags on forever with no character or story development.

Postives -

One of the biggest assets of the film is the production values which are amazing. The setup and world created look quite intriguing and create a tense atmosphere for the viewer. The camerawork showcasing the forest visuals and arresting BGM is the backbone of the film. The director has created a new world to narrate a suspense drama and the VFX also plays a major role and it looks superb.

Sudeep is one more major asset as his performance is stunning. He looks super fit and did great action during the climax. Jacqueline Fernandez plays a cameo and she is cute in the Rakamma song. The supporting cast also did well in their respective roles.

Negatives -

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the excess length. The film needs to be trimmed for at least fifteen minutes straight and one song can be chopped off to make the viewing experience better. The love track and the way Sudeep investigates the case look confusing and bore the audience.

The screenplay for suspense-based films needs to be gripping but that is not the case here. In key areas, it is very good but for the rest of the scenes, there is a lag created and sidelines the film after a while.

Must watch movie

Movie is gonna break BOX OFFICE COLLECTION , one of the greatest MYSTERY movie ever seen MUST WATCH MOVIE.

Kichcha Boss acting is like always top-notch.

Not even 1 second u will get bored or distracted that how the movie making is.

Well narrated and directed hats off to Anup Bhandari.

Storyline is very similar to that of Rangitharanga. 3D effects are excellent. There is a little bit of chaos in the movie and it felt like it was made with confusing the viewer as the main goal and not the beauty of storyline. For the backdrop this movie is set against, this movie could have had a better story.

Disappointing & Overrated

The film is overrated by those who have been tortured by bad Kannada films. When a film shows something you haven't seen in your film industry your mind tends to feel it's a good film. People have been tired of watching the same old gangsters roaming in Bengaluru with manchettes that anything that doesn't have such goonda characters look healthy and divine. But the good films in Kannada are the ones that don't have star actors in it and thus the distribution too is either limited or nil. These films are heard only when they win the National or international awards.

Vikrant Rona's VFX looks like VFX. Every bit be it the jungle or the devasthana. VFX should look so realistic that one doesn't find the difference between what's real and what's VFX. The lighting too is so bad throughout the film that I am hardly interested to waste my energy to 'observe' anything. Sudeep's make up in the close up shot in the climax is so bad I could see the fake patch on his face. LOL. The cliché thing about every hero vs villain fight is that no matter how much the hero is hit, beaten or shot he gets up and fights and survives but one shot to the villain and he falls dead. Nirup has used that formula here.

The film keeps moving nowhere for the first one hour and if you miss the first one hour you won't miss anything. It's all in the trailer & in the IMDB premise of the film.

The actors have done a mediocre job with everyone showing their theatre drama acting except for Constable Gowda whose dialogue delivery is impeccable and feels very raw. Congrats to him. Everyone else especially Karthik Rao Kordale & Nirup Bhandari have been very over dramatic from the get go in their acting & dialogue delivery.

The screenplay has so many unwanted moments. As said before the film tends to just waste time for the first one hour. One of the twists in the film is directly copied from the twist in the Tulu film 'Yesa' (which too is taken from some western film that don't remember now). The little girl's character is shot in such a way that it is very clear from the beginning itself about her existence. You know what am saying!

The songs are below average, the romance is pathetic, the casting too is meh.

What's good is one shot of Sudeep that is stunning in visuals, constable Gowda and the second half is bearable. After Anup Bhandari's previous outing 'Rajaratha' went cold, he has gone back to the same old 'Rangitaranga' set up, same scares, same loud sound effects but without a good story or music.

One of the best thriller of 2022,,,!

The storyline of this movie is and the acting is also good. They did good job in creating scenes. However, the acting is just superb and well created. Overall, I have enjoyed a lot.
